Keep Facebook profile or convert to business page?

by neongoesfaster 2 replies
I have 4 FB profiles linked to real businesses, converted 1 to a page but found it was less useful than the profile as I lost the ability to message and be messaged by customers. Also, by keeping the profiles I can create a list of their email addresses (by importing into Yahoo) which I can't with a page.

There are advantages of pages, such as apps and insights, but I think the profile advantages outweigh them.

I understand I could lose the profiles as they are not meant to be profiles, but pages since they are businesses, however I've been able to overcome any security checks so far.

Facebook is more about a personal connection, although some have successfully used pages to connect, namely musical artists and restaurants. For most markets, I believe you will have better success connecting personally rather than forming a corporate business image.

Facebook is about relationships. Having a profile means to connect with others and not really sell stuff. A fan page is where people connect with you on a business level. They know the reason why they liked your page which is to do business. It's nice to have both.
