Need Help With Wordpress Upgrade (Solved...Please Delete)

Well, my web host (thank you Marc) cleaned up my tr*jons and viruses
and I just went to do an upgrade to my Wordpress. I uploaded all the new
files and when I ran the upgrade, I got the following error.

Fatal error: Call to undefined method wpdb::has_cap() in
/home/*****/public_html/blog/wp-admin/includes/schema.php on line 22

Any clues? I have no idea what to do next.

And no, I can't run auto upgrade from CPanel because for some reason,
this blog isn't listed when I go into Fantastico, so I have to do it manually.

Also, the latest version my web host has up at Fantastico is 2.7 and
WP just came out with 2.7.1, so it's out of date anyway.

Any help anybody can give will be greatly appreciated.

    Steven,

All that you need to upgrade your blog is this - WordPress › Wordpress Automatic upgrade WordPress Plugins

Download it, unzip it, upload it to your plug-ins folder, and then run it on your blog.

    Hope that helps!

Well, now I'm totally screwed because I can't even log in to run the
upgrade now that I downloaded it.

Here are the new messages that I'm getting.

      Warning: require(/home/swagen/public_html/blog/wp-includes/http.php)
[function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in
      /home/****/public_html/blog/wp-settings.php on line 318

I had similar errors recently and it had to do with the particular version of PHP (on the server). Perhaps suggest it to your host

I found the problem. It was in the so called "easy to follow" instructions for
upgrading your Wordpress that I got off of some site. They do NOT work as
written for 2.7.1 though they did work for earlier versions. seems there was
a file added to wp-includes that was not in earlier versions. These instructions
stated that you didn't need to update this folder. Up until now, I never did,
but now with this new file added, you have to.

Anyway, I downloaded the automatic update plugin and will be using it
      from now on.

      Sheesh, I hate this stuff.

      ** EDIT ***

Oh, one other thing...I hate the new WP layout in the Admin area. Can't
      find a blessed thing anymore.

Can't these people just leave things alone when they're not broken?

    Steven,

Glad you got it figured out! now, you know that WP 2.7.1 will also allow you to one-click upgrade your plug-ins as well, right? You don't have to manually upload them when they're out of date.

Also, that Automatic Upgrade plug-in should work just fine for you in the future.

I use that method to have my database emailed to me and saved in my Gmail. Works like a charm!

    Hope that helps!

Wordpress is just getting better with Age, Honestly cannot wait to see, whats in store a year from now. SEO on wordpress from a non coders perspective is simply amazing.

It demystified the whole onpage stuff for me. Once all the SEO plugins are in and installed, all you have to do (mostly) Off Page stuff.
