Affiliate links in signature??

This may be stupid to ask, but I've been seeing this more and more. I was under the impression that affiliate links in the signatures here was against the rules, however i am seeing more and more people joining and putting links to affiliate review sites and then posting all over the place. Is this allowed? It would seem to me that if affiliate marketing is not allowed in the signatures, that affiliate review sites that ARE affiliate marketing are not as well?

Thanks.

    Nope.

Mods just getting lazy again. I saw a few people get their sigs fixed because of it.

    Guarantee you it's not allowed.

      Matt,

The rules on that are pretty clear: If it's your site and it's not a template distributed by the merchant, or just a squeeze page for the program, it's fine.

Yes, you can link to a "thin site" that is nothing but reviews, as long as it's your domain and your original content.

You do realize that the Mods work their butts off, and that they are all volunteers, right?

Okay, I thought you did, so I will assume you meant that remark in a humorous tone.

      All the best,

If it's your site, it's allowed. They can not be affiliate links though. They can direct to affiliate review sites, etc., again, if they're yours (all of this information I believe to be correct - don't hold me to it!).

    Yes; it's allowed.

As long as they own the site to which they link, and the affiliate links are there (i.e. not in their sig-files), it's perfectly alright.

(As long as they don't then post in a way which draws attention to their sig-file, of course, and otherwise comply with the sig-file rules).

If you see it, click the icon.

We are community moderators. That is how we notify the big mods of a problem.

If anyone is getting lazy, it is the community who is not reporting bad behavior when they see it.

      Very true

We should all work together to keep this forum great for all and this means sticking to the rules and reporting anyone who decides to create rules of their own.

The MODs do a great job and we should assist them at all times.

Okay well i guess this thread was answered as soon as Paul Myers informed us again of the rules. Like Michael says the mods aren't too lazy here they have quite a big forum to keep watch over!
