Also, if you could call yourself when you started your Internet Marketing journey but only had 30 seconds, what would you say?

I would reach through the phone, slap myself in the face and say: "Dammit Mark! Avoid the SEO niche at all costs!!!"

Success always seems just around the corner. Don't quit, keep on feeding the fire...but don't slow down until the evidence says you have achieved your goals! Keep on trucking...full speed ahead!

It's what you do when no one is watching
that determines what you will be able to
    do when everyone is watching.

I might tell myself to forget about internet marketing and focus on my real interests such as fiction writing and photography, to not depend on frustration as a motivator as it's very temporary and doesn't get me very far, stop being immature about college so that I'm not tempted to "temporarily" leave, and to save as much money as I can as things are going to get really tight really soon.

Either that or inform myself of these things called Clickbank and Amazon and to write everyday despite my serious doubts as to whether it will work.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Is that something you've learned or where you think the thread should go?

Because if you're saying this thread needs to move, the thread is perfectly fine for Internet Marketing. I just checked and the two threads surrounding this one are "Does your Twitter profile picture matter?" and "The Reality of Failure".

So, thank you, but let's keep the comments relevant to the thread.

And to everyone commenting, some really awesome answers but they'd be even better if you provided with what taught you the lessons.

      Thanks

I think this is relevant to this forum...

    I would tell myself...

Buy more niche specific domains, optimize for a higher CTR, publish longer articles and more frequently.

    I'm a slow learner. Lolololol.

Lesson: Invent and market physical tangible products rather than informational products. Informational products are quickly copied, spun and resold by those who are not gifted with imagination, creativity or an original thought. (Which do you think is more susceptible to duplication/theft: A video course on building washboard abs or a new exercise apparatus used for building washboard abs?)

Yes, tangible products are more expensive to produce, but if you believe your product idea is good and you believe in it, then its worth the financial and time investment.
