Best Way To Create Professional Opt-In Forms

Hello Everyone,

I am looking to create a few opt-in forms but all templates that I found were somewhat mediocre and generic including the one's included with Aweber. Can you guys recommend a site or a program that has some good professional looking templates to work from?

Thanks.

Just try some WSO about list building things. There must be a clue what is the best and converting for your optin form.

      sirtiman,

I did see some wso's that were selling templates but they were pretty generic and I am super picky about appearance and design.

Could you recommend one that you found to be professional? I am having trouble finding something good enough and am kind of hitting a brick wall with this.

      Steve,

OptimizePress is great but the problem with that is that it's a whole theme and I already have a blog theme that I am using. For sales funnels and campaigns I will be using OptimizePress but I need something to create just an opt-in form to embed into a wordpress blog side-widget.

    OptimisePress. Awesome.

It's all I use and it integrates with Aweber.

Could you point to some examples of what you deem to be professional? "Professional" in this sense is rather subjective.

Also, check the Warriors for Hire section. There's a guy in there (Raw something or other) who makes some pretty sick squeeze pages. I'm sure he could do an opt-in form for a sidebar. He's not cheap, though.

As a web developer, my best suggestion is to take a little time and learn the basics of HTML code, practice for some time and you will be able to create your own opt-in forms the way you like.

But please understand that as any skill, it will require you some effort to learn a computer language. HTML is really basic and easy for that type of structures, so I would really recommend you that you learn it. Besides, this skill will come in handy with almost anything you want to do in your webpages.

You should visit a page like W3Schools Online Web Tutorials where you can have some very strong and basic tutorials for many computer languages, HTML included.

If coding is not for you, my best suggestion would be that you outsource the work.

    Kind regards!

You should be worried about what converts, not what looks good.

Having said that, I use 'profits theme'. A wordpress theme that makes nice looking squeeze pages with opt in forms.

    Good luck.

I totally agree with you.. but it is nice to have a good looking page that calls for attention, style is something that in some way have to be linked to content.

It happens to me when I surf the web and enter some guys webpages, poorly designed, and In my insides I don't feel comfortable to keep reading, I just get my attention off the content and I end leaving the page. I am sure this happens to a lot of people too, its not that I am too obsessed with quality, but having a nice placed page always help.

Fair enough. And I'm with you on this too.

That comes under trustworthiness of a site.

When I see 1997 graphics, alarm bells go off inside my head, even if the site is 100% trustworthy (since it doesn't give the image of trustworthiness).

      Simon,

You bring up a great point.

My strategy with this is to use what works by using the same headline used by a successful site (without infringement, of course) and also try to improve upon the look, usability, and content.

I'm a strong believer in creating something that looks incredible but also converts incredibly too. I feel that things like that matter and help you build a brand where your visitors and prospects know they can always expect nothing but the best from you.

Think Apple and how they have built their brand. They may have sacrificed profits by delaying releases to produce something that is their best work.

I've seen too many sites that just don't look very professional...even those used by today's top gurus. But the thing is when you look at which websites are in the top 100 in the world, you'll find those are all super professional and user friendly. Of course conversion is a huge part of it but that should never be an excuse for not producing your best work possible.

I compare myself to the top 50 sites on the web. If mine isn't as good I will not be happy and will have to do things over.

Hopefully it will serve me best in the end.

Apple is always a fantastic example of design (I consider their design to be the most perfect anyone has achieved).

After reading Jobs' biography I came to the conclusion that we had the exact same design philosophy (beauty in simplicity).

You'd do well to use Apple as inspiration.

        -Simon

p.s. Hope apple can keep up the brilliant design after the passing of Jobs.

There are some great tools out there for creating forms. Something to be aware of in WordPress is the theme may have CSS (cascading style sheets) that may alter the look of your form, so even if you find a form you like, it may not stay that way. You need one that won't be changed by the CSS.
On my site, I reworked the signup form to be horizontal rather than vertical, but one of the themes associated with one of my categories changes the way the form looks. (I use a plugin that allows me to assign a different theme to each category - nifty tool!)
If you want to see it in action go to my site (see my sig below) and look at /angels to see very different theme from the main page.
To see the form altered by CSS try /zombies on my site. (It rounded the form boxes, which is cool, but shortened the width of the box so you can't verify your email is correct.)
While you're there help yourself to the 32 free no opt-in reports by Jason Fladlien. (There is a link to the page on the right side if you scroll down)

If you feel like checking out how my form works, I use listwire, and have over 20 days of solid, free content including some completely original material.

I'm only citing examples from my site for your information, so you can see what a little tweaking to an existing form can do. (I hand coded the changes myself)

marcelomusza mentioned you should learn HTML, which can be helpful, but if you really don't feel like spending your time on it, you can probably find someone willing to do it for you on fiverr.com.

Another thing to consider is different browsers might make your form look different. Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about the different browsers, because if you have the main ones covered (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.) you should be fine.

I hope this has been helpful.

You should check the warrior's for hire section of the forum. I know there are a few people there who offer this service. Some are cheap, some are expensive so you could weigh your options and decide what you like. For your blog theme the opt-in form itself is not as important as the funnel video or text to the form. That's just my opinion but I have been playing around for a while on my blog and I've found that it was the effectiveness of my funnel that ultimately decides the conversion rate of my site.

Disagree completely. It doesn't matter what type of funnel you have or how professional it is if you can't get your visitors to COME INSIDE! They have to take action at the OPT-IN FORM FIRST. So the funnel is totally irrelevant to his question.

Depending on your niche, you could put up an ugly squeeze page and still gets of leads from it. I would know.

You want conversions? I'm going to tell you something about 90% of the market. THEY WANT to see the "same old snickers" they see everywhere else when it comes to your sales pages/opt in forms. They see this stuff so much all over the internet their brain subconsciously gives them a sense of trust from the familiarity of it.

If you've seen it so much that you're desensitized, you're probably looking at a great one.

If you are serious then I think you should go for the premium themes. I think the best way is to hire a company and then Start giving them leads to build the exact themes
