I'm just doing some research before I begin and thought that I would come to my fellow Warriors 1st
How would you guys like a a professional, industry read E-Book educational guide on marketing - From Traditional to Psychology to IM?

I have read a countless numbers of posts here on how to beat the competition and people switching niche's because they are too strong. What if your competition is a Fortune 100? Play their game, adapt and adopt their view on marketing, their tools. Combined with the tools on here, you could essentially be unstoppable. A jewelry company doesn't have TWACC or AMR. They have millions to be spent on Ad's. The average small business owner doesn't. Everyone could use an advantage sometime in our lives.

I have knowledge from and access to seminars, workshops, classes, ventures, fortune 50 - (one) 500 CEO, Post-Grade textbooks, journals, and scholarly articles.

It would also have information on and how to use 2012 Industry ready programs used by Coke, Pepsi, Amazon, for Targeted Marketing.

It would encompass everything you need to start a career at a major company/firm. In addition I would add market psychology, motivation, I/O psychology, Social Psychology, etc. All mixed with IM and new Social Web 2.0.

I go to class each day to learn this. It is on my mind non-stop and I want to thank the warriors for their help with it. I am sitting on hundreds of thousands of articles in a over 200 databases on these exact subject and study it 24/7. I am also an English Minor so it would be written nicely

Shall I work on something like this?
Would people be interested in a raw learning book?
If so, what specific topics would you like covered?
Should it be free?
Should I release a free version and sell the full?

I want to do this as a Thank You and help those on Warrior Forum who truly need the help and are not out to manipulate people with bad products. I want to help the good rise If it is good enough, I could possibly sell it and publish it. Remember this is just an idea I had today. I want input 1st, don't assume I have already begun. I do have a plan and the resources mapped out, that is it.

    Sounds like it would be of benefit to all of us.

    Maybe a good idea would be to give your first draft free to the warrior members to get feedback to make it better for a paid version on Amazon and clickbank.

    If it's something you're passionate about, then go for it.

    A cautionary word - I would break it into smaller parts. A singe huge project never seems to end and can drag on forever.. a bunch of smaller, more concise projects with deadlines will end. And they will build on each other, which can give you great momentum.

    I would personally recommend that you release a series of articles that, when combined and read consecutively, pass on the same information you wanted to convey in the larger guide. I had an idea similar to yours earlier on in my career and I'm glad I ditched it in favour of smaller, more manageable tasks.

    Do it like Starwars and Lord of the Rings.. haha...

    Release movie 1.. then movie 2... then movie 3..... then release the trilogy. Don't forget about the extended director's cut edition(s) afterward.. lol.

    Also... ask yourself: how does this fit into my business plan?

    It's great that you want to do all of this, but why would you give it away for free?

    The way I see it... Professionals get paid for their work. Professionals with great ideas and track records get paid very well for their work. haha.

    I'd focus my efforts on something that's likely to generate long-term benefit.

      I have found a few e-Book aggregators where I would want to start selling it.
      Smashwords, Lulu, Amazon...

      I would love to run the preliminary drafts and articles by the Warrior Forum; so as to get feedback and give back to the community.

      I love the Starwars Release idea also. By applying this concept, if I do abandon the idea at sometime during the project, I will still have work that is useable and just release it here.

      I have the intro finished - next is Targeted Marketing. (I am writing this from the assumption that my readers would also have a product or service in mind)

        Great work, Shapeless. I look forward to reading or (p)reviewing the finished manuscript.

        Some thoughts (just typing my thoughts here!)

        I'd split it into sub products and sell those first, as others have advised too. Partly because you're starting a huge project, and partly because it's very motivating (!) to have your first ebooks sold and successful, and - worst case - if it doesn't sell at all, you can change your approach half way.

        I've read quite a few IM ebooks, and somehow a clean 'academic' approach makes me wonder if the author actually has experience, or is just aggregating and reformulating existing material and views. You should give plenty of examples and anecdotes.

        The chapter titles indicate clearly what you're writing about, but are a bit clean. e.g. "Persuasive Writing - Imagine you could sell Anything to Anyone using just words" would give a nice seductive color to it. Or "Branding - Sell yourself, not just your products" etc.

        Just my 2 cents.

        One last thing: are you sure IM'ers want to know about ethics and morals? ;-)

    Raw theory is fine when you can illustrate a way to apply it in real life. It would be cool if you'd talk about the theory, than take an example from a big company that used that theory in an advertising campaign and then teach how to replicate it in a smaller scale suitable for a solo entrepreneur that sells online.

    The outline looks very interesting, looking forward to see the finished product!

    I Love You All! Yes I have many of my own personal methods in here. It does read like I have just done some data mining at first but I assure you, that content is experienced based as well as informative based. The theories are in full and have applications to the real world and marketing. I need to relate them to IM. I have examples of fortune 500's and their methods. I am working from the angle of scaling you up to them, but I can also scale them down to you.

    I feel that by giving everyone the actual theories behind what we do, it allows them to think more and be creative. I have a bunch of methods that I can sell, but I don't want to do that. I use this information to make winning methods. I want everyone else to be able to make their own winning methods also. Anyone can buy and ebook and execute a system. What happens when the system fails, you make a few hundred thousands then what, you have to buy a new system. You are making it, but the fact doesn't change that you are at the mercy of the people creating the systems; which isn't a bad thing, but I'm sure you can create a great one also. I hope this helps.

    I also have a few methods that are border-line legal that I am warning people of NOT to do. I think it's going to be good.

    Here is an example from the book:

    1) Attitudes Are Formed
    2) Attitudes Influence Behavior
    3) Persuasion Changes Attitudes To Influence Behavior
    4) Control Attitude Is To Change Behavior Is To Create Action

    I Explain entire theory in full. I explain why it works, scientifically. I then explain industry standard methods and how they are used. Then I equate them to IM and general Marketing.

    For example one for of persuasion and attitude manipulation is "Credibility" we use it all the time on Squeeze pages. This is why we use it, and it also has information as to how it can be improved upon. In my notes I have the exact criteria to perfectly execute a Credibility Ploy for persuasion.

    (NEW IDEA RIGHT NOW) We are all using the method from the 1990's there are new studies out there from 2006! No one has adapted yet. Okay after the Beta Im going to get my hands on the new research data and experiment logs and see if I can improve upon all of our IM systems like the Squeeze Page! Don't expect this in beta haha.

      I would recommend that you give away one chapter for free so people can see the quality of your work.

I would really encourage you to follow up on this, but as a separate product which you could sell for a lot more money if you can prove that there are new techniques that outperform the current techniques. So keep the current approaches in your first product and sell it at a lower price (USD 27 or USD 37) and then offer the latest research at ten times that.

        Im going to finish editing it; going over the spelling and grammar today and then release a nice amount.

        The information is out there, I have a test on it tonight. That's a great idea, I was going to keep it in the first. Ill keep this as a side project and even make new templates if I find the new information successful.

        We are basing all of our methods on great research but there is more new ones. No one has used it yet, I know major corps. use them. Us Warriors need an R&D department also. Ill see what I can dig up.

        An Update: After much thought on how to split up this project I will split the E-Book into three sections.

        1) Theoretical
        2) The Theory's Transcended (From Idea To Reality)
        3) Implementation (The Action - Using What You Have Learned)

        (4th / Separate) New Methods (In Thanks To @StunningWarrior)

        I feel that this will flow nice. I will need to reformat the entire thing as it is all written in one book now. Each section was written as its own article. After I edit I may do a small release via this thread to everyone tonight or tomorrow. It is 4:00pm over here now. The file will be PW protected and you will have to email me for the password. If I can get it over to the copyright office after editing then I will send it out.

          It's very true. There are several aspects to a working company that I think a lot of warriors fail to recognize, and R&D is (unfortunately) often one of them.

          We're not all "marketers". Some of us are "product creators", some of us are "salespeople", some of us are "writers", some of us are in it alone.. some of us outsource like mad... haha...

          It's hard to do everything at once, if you haven't noticed. :p

          This particular forum represents a large market for "enhancing your business"-related products and everyone is always looking for a competitive edge.

          With that said, there are at this time...

            Yes I am working on it. I am editing and adjusting for the warrior release but I wont even give out the free samples until I know it's perfect. I am a little OCD when It comes to my creative work.

            Yes you are also right about everyone specialize in their area, I often forget. It is so hard to do everything, sooo, sooo hard - but possible. I will keep everyone posted; I am taking Mid-Terms at school so I am a little behind on the project but here are the current statuses :

            Marketing E-Book: "Live Wire Codex" --- Done Editing (1-10) of (61)
            R & D Persuasion Techniques / Methodology: --- Conducting Research & Formulating Theories (This will be a long one)

              My Research Thus Far On Web Personalization / Marketing:

              This is what I have found and found to be decisive and proven. You goal is the following, in order to persuade a person. People form Attitudes on a given subject. These attitudes then create personalized behaviors which lead to predictable actions. Our goal is to change attitudes in order to get a user to act according to our intention.

              This can be done through some of the following ways.

              Web Development & User Interactions

              1) Personalization
              To achieve higher user interactions the key is to personalize your website. Use things like Google Place's applets, FB build-ins, etc. It is hard to personalize with out a substantial amount of money but creativity will surely yield some nice results.

              2) Sorting Cues
              A sorting cue from amazon is: "Recommended Books" or other content which goes along the lines of what the user is searching or looking for.

              3) High NFC (Need For Cognition):
              - The Tendency to Engage in and Enjoy Thinking
              - Individuals With High-NFC:
              (a) Search for more information when making decisions
              (b) Engage in more effortful processing of persuasive messages
              (c) Are more open-minded
              (d) Enjoy more effortful cognitive tasks
              (e) Develop more complex causal explanations for the need to normalize the number of items under each set-size condition.
              (f) Hold attitudes that are more persistent over time and resistant to persuasion attempts
              (g) Devote more topic-relevant thought to persuasive communications, than do low-NFC individuals

              Summaries:

              There are two methods of execution one can take:
              1) Peripheral (Subconscious Marketing)
              - This method has a lower success rate than High NFC but yields successes
              - Have attractive relateable images as the 1st things seen on website
              - Have massive amounts of content - so much that it will turn user off from engaging mentally
              - User will then A- leave your site or B- stay if he/she deems it "Attractive"
              - If website and end offer is attractive and visually stimulating + goes along w/ users original search and engages in personalization = Success
              2) ELM (Conscientious Marketing)
              - Content must be relevant and of good quality
              - Begin with a personalization cue to engage user
              - follow up with a sorting cue
              - engage reader in your content ( content must be in depth but not to boring - use bullets, headers, etc. : must flow)
              - If you pose a good argument / sale : user will click offer proposed
              3) High NFC
              - High NFC Users are the most likely to click / engage in your target offer
              - These users will also need the proper Personalization and a content rich website relevant to what the users are searching - not a poor quality website.

              In conclusion, if your website is attractive you can overwhelm users with too much content and force them through a Peripheral Processing Route. This will cause them to use "pre formed attitudes" and relay them against your website. If you use personalization, and images that the user finds safe, comforting, secure, etc.; and your offer is a visual CPA ad (example), then the user will click = success


              This is one a fraction of the research I am conducting, there is so much more. I thought I would give this to WF since I have been delayed with other non marketing stuff.

      This is why I love WF - The theoretical section is 90% psychology but if I adjust to what you said I have an even better sales angle. Thanks!

      () Also to monetize other than the simple E-Book sale would be an up-sell method. E-Book free > Bring people to my website > Sell them on the in-depth methods explained in book (This would mean less detailed content in book. (I don't really like this method but it would make $$)

      () I was looking into Smashwords & Lulu for publications. Going after all E-Readers. Depending on the soon to be coming Beta I will debate on one of Apple's high quality aggregators.

      Do I target Marketer's or do I target the General Public and use this E-Book as a way to draw them into building their dreams.

      A) I could sell a version to knowledgeable Marketers (This would include all of my methods and tools)
      B) I sell this book as a Business Book in Barns & Noble for people looking to advance / start a small business (This would be raw contextual based information with just resources - no WSO type methods)

    I like the idea, and would recommend publishing it as a blog
    to build your brand and reputation, while retaining the flexibility
    to package parts of the content into more focused short reports,
    which can be sold to an audience that already listens to you and
    respects your experience.
