I have a blocking belief about Internet Marketing

Hello guys (and gals)

I've been struggling for the last 3 months making a huge effort to take action, trying to develop a WORKING plan (all my plans have failed) and to try to leave the unpleasant job I have outside internet to become I full time internet marketer.

But Recently I discovered something.....I have a blocking belief about Internet Marketing!

Deep inside me, it is hard to believe that I could possibly make CONSTANT real money (by real I mean more than $36.000 per year).

Maybe I am too tired of too much Hype or too much exageration aobut success stories, and clickbank printscreens, etc.

Do you guys REALLY make a constant very good living selling information?

I am not talking about other internet businesses where you have a huge platform, with 3 or 4 employees. I mean Only those who promote info products.

it is SOOO hard to me to really believe that it is possible to be "rich" selling digital goods.

Please guys,...I need a hand on my shoulder right now.

Chewie.

I've been working my tail off 9-5 in my day job and spending my free time on IM with absolutely no success..Im sure everyone will tell you to keep trying, my problem is I don't have much more cash to spend on IM. I've bought 6-7 domains, hosting costs etc, with no money coming back. Anyway, good luck to you and you guessed it, DON'T GIVE UP!

It sounds to me that you have stretched yourself too thin.

What I mean is that you need to get one system running and making money before you start another.

You can't run before you learn to walk.

The short answer would be: keep trying.

It takes time and lots of work. Eventually it does start paying off. Maybe not a lot at first, but if you find something that starts producing some income for you, repeat it with another niche or another twist. The income starts to trickle in. That's not to say you can't hit the jackpot on ocassion maybe. But it is more probable you will build an income over time.

Someone once compared internet marketing success to the Gold Rush days in the Old West... a few people made a lot of money just mining, but most of the money came to those selling the miners picks and shovels.

I have a feeling this thread will get a lot of views because threads expressing hopelessness always do.

#1 get rid of that belief or you'll probably never make any decent and steady money because it will shadow everything you do.

There are 100's of 1,000's of people just like you making good money with their online business.

95% of of them are in niches that have nothing to do with selling how to make money stuff.

I'm sure as long as you...

    - have a decent product to offer:
    - get lots of interested people to a page that has the offer:
    - get enough of them to do what you want them to do at the page:

    You'll make money.

    >>> Things that can short-circuit your success:

    - Not having a clear online business plan:
    - Not taking strategic action:
    - Wrong niche selection:
    - Wrong product selection:
    - Not being able to generate enough visitors to your offers:
    - Not having the mentality of a tester:

Simply have a proven online business model or plan and be prepared to test until you find success.

It would also help if you would become a master of traffic generation.

Testing is cheap, you're inability to create another source of income will be very expensive.

    Hope This Helps!!

    TL

Ps. If the normal online business stuff isn't working for you, you can always try...

    - Domain Investor: ( buy/create and sell domains 0

    Hi Chewie,

    It is absolutely possible.

You need to find a proven plan that fits well with who you are, and stick to it.

The real problem isn't having a "blocking belief". My guess is that over time that blockage has only gotten bigger. Here's what I think the real problem is...
trying to develop a WORKING plan (all my plans have failed)
It sounds like you are jumping from idea to idea, rather than making a real plan and sticking to it.

When you stick to it, and see success (even small success) then your beliefs will change for the better.

Change your actions, which will change your results, which will change your belief.

    All the best,
    Michael

It's not necessarily a case of "keep trying".

You have to know what to try.

I have "mentored" a few internet "failures" over the years, who wondered why they weren't making sales.

There were a few common denominators in each case:

    1) They hadn't properly identified a niche and didn't properly know what the relevant keywords were in that niche.

    2) They had a totally crappy, inappropriate domain name that had very little to do with anything and wouldn't excite a buyer even if you were selling diamonds for pennies.

    3) The site itself looked really crappy and amateurish.

    4) What they were trying to sell was usually a poor product.

    5) There was very little effort made at optimising the site for the search engines.

    6) The sales copy was poor.

    7) They did very little effective off-site link building or marketing.

All of these things if improved upon slightly have a snowball effect and success can be just around the corner if you get this reasonably well implemented.

I can relate to both of you.

I am fairly good at writing, I have a forum, (which I'm about to get rid of or temporarily suspend because I can't find anyone to partner with)...yet with all of these, I could never generate the income I dreamed of.

I even sent a PM to someone on this forum for help in getting me started with PLR's for "flipping", to which I got no response (no hard feelings - maybe the person is really busy).

But about 3months ago, I came across Tissa Godavitarne's program, People Search Engine. Within 24hrs, I saw $125 in my account as he promised, and that did it for me. That's all I needed...a motivating force.

I let him do the advertising in addition to my own, the people that signs up are real people with real email addresses so I have direct contact with them (those are my babies, so I am currently building a relationship with them).

My advice to anyone frustrated about making money in IM is, forget about all the thousands of dollars people say they are making. Yes it may be true, and it is tempting to want to be in their shoes. But what they normally don't say is that, it took hard work, sweat, time and money to get to where they are today. It is not going to be different for you either. It is easier for us humans to get sucked into other people's success. So start small and build from there. The greatest thing in IM IMHO is relationship.

My first check with People Search was $245...but guess what? I was happy, I was satisfied and I became motivated. As long as I let him do the advertising in addition to my own, my income will keep growing (and that's just one part of the program). You also make money with GDI, Reunion etc. If you have other good programs outside of People Search and stay in touch with your downline, you can market to them. Simply write a convincing Ad with an eye-catching headline. You will make money. Not everyone will buy or sign up for everything you put before them instantly, but you will get positive results. Some may not have the cash at that moment, but get your autoresponder running to keep reminding them.

To add some grease to my elbow, I just found another product on eBay that I believe will put the icing on the cake. I am just waiting for the bidding to expire.

So for anyone frustrated about making money Online, I say hang in there. Your turn will come. But remember, start small. In a few months, you too will be proud to tell your story about Online success.

It does work, I was a skeptic myself, but I´m starting to make money , not anything huge but I will do averything in my power to be able to be IM full time.

My best advice is once you start to make a little money you should reinvest those in outsourcing.

The first time I tried this, 1996, it took me months to get my first sale. Then things started rolling. Today is a different time. I haven't tried to make any money since 2000. I am new again. The whole internet is a completely different animal. I have just started to apply my efforts towards this and I realize it won't be instantaneous, plus there is a lot more competition today. I do see how you can make a good living, I have a client doing exactly that. Good Luck.

I used to have limiting beliefs about making money online too. Then I stumbled across this video on youtube and it totally change the way I think, and therefore, my online income (I hope it's OK to post the link in here.....):

The problem is that many people give up way to soon because they don't believe in themselves. Plus your limiting belief actually keeps you from making money because the whole time you are thinking in your head "this will never work, I'll never make a lot of money at this...".

Keep at it until you find a plan that works for you, then work the plan. It's hard work but worth it in the long run.

    negative attitude beforehand is BAD.

You are like my Ex with your "constant money". Even in a regular 7-3 job there is no "guarantee" for constant money....in an economy where EVERYONE *could* get laid off any time. Who guarantees "constant money" and the "eternal job"? NO ONE.

this is a time where you need to adapt and be prepared. NOTHING is secure and nothing is safe. Realize this. IM makes me more money than i ever made. is it "constant" ? Well..kind of. I am doing my best to keep it constant tho.

You have a negative attitude and this is basically your first problem you need to overcome.

It took me 8 months to make my first calculated sale.

And it wasn't until I found someone who was successful to
learn from that I started to see results.

Once that happened, I haven't looked back since.

Figure out a proven method that you feel comfortable with and stick with it.

Do searches in this very forum on that topic and learn from those that share
    their successes and their secrets.

    Hey chewie49,

It's definitely not a matter of 'keep trying'. Honestly, do you have a clear course of action? Or are you jumping from idea to idea?

If you're always asking, "is it possible to make money online," then perhaps you're asking the wrong questions.

Instead, I urge you to think, "What can I do today, to serve another person better?"

Focus on providing service to others and your income will naturally build up. Realize that people will pay you in the exact proportion based on the help they receive from you.

As you think about it, you will gradually discover that people will only give you what you give to them. The only way you'll earn money online is the same way you'll make money offline - by providing quality service.

Think about what niche you are familiar with and then what's happening in that niche - are there any headaches that people in that niche are having?

If there is, focus on helping them solve their headaches and they will in return, solve your financial headaches. Does that make sense?

As far as a plan to make money online.. theres different models, like CPA marketing (cost per action), other affiliate marketing, creating info products (lucrative profits), and selling physical products. Just to name a few.

Just see what's working for other people and model some of there business models.

Its all about marketing the information. A proper marketing strategy selling information can make a great living. For evidence of this, visit a local book store. Plenty of authors make a great living. Plenty also fail.

Part of difference is in the sales and marketing processes.

Look at the Real Estate info niche.. big money can be made there.. Robert Allen has books selling info, ebooks, coaching, seminars, ect.

And as far as I know, I've never seen a Robert Allen building..

Trump also licenses his name to companies to sell RE info.. these companies bring in 10's of millions a year.

Agora is one of the biggest publishers selling information online. Supposedly they bring in 100-300 million a year.

What you should be focusing on learning is direct marketing and direct sales, if you want to sell information.

People have been getting rich selling information before the internet existed.

Check out Dan Kennedy or Ted Nicolas as an example.

If there was a formula for making money that couldn't fail (EVER) most people would try to keep it secret, right? Yeah, well that's probably true, but here's a formula 'just created' using nothing more than a brain an amazing 3 finger typing method and earth shattering patience (I'm waiting for a train...It's delayed...again).

Introducing - "the hidden formula for making money" that 'they' never knew 'they' didn't want to tell you, because 'they' never knew 'they' knew it, in fact 'they' thought 'they' didn't...but 'they' probably did. Or did they?
(Disclaimer: Please take the following Formula with a massive grain of salt)

Regular Income - 'The Big Formula' :

Formula part 1. Revealing reality (shrink-ray the numbers)...

FG (Financial goal) / DIY (Days in year i.e. 365) = DRR (Daily revenue reality)

    - $36,000 / 365 = $98.70 ...per day everyday *roughly*

Side note: 1,574,313,184 BILLION - People now have access to the internet (source: World Internet Usage Statistics News and World Population Stats) . You need roughly 0.000006351% of those people to visit your site everyday (100 in other words), and an average 1% of those people to actually take any action and purchase $98.70 worth of your stuff.

(If this number - '$98.70' per day from a single site - seems too big (It's not by the way) then use the 'Multiplication method' to make it seem more achievable. Otherwise skip to part 2)

    Formula part 1b. Multiplication Method...

DRR (Daily revenue reality) / WYTIPPD (What you think is possible per day) = NOSQS (Number of same quality sites* )

*This is the number of sites you'll have to produce - of the same standard - to achieve your $98.70 per day results.

For example: Your DRR=98.70 but you have a limited mindset and can only bring yourself to believe that you'll be able to make $27 a day from any one site. So, WYTIPPD=27.

If we shove these numbers into the formula we get...
    (98.70) / (27) = NOSQS
    (98.70) / (27) = 3.65 sites
Which means you'll roughly need around 4 sites (3.65 rounded up) promoting/selling a quality product which costs $27 to achieve your goal of $98.70 per day.

(Note: 4 sites selling one $27 product a day each, actually results in $108 dollars per day - an extra $3,400 at the end of the year over and above your $36,000 - holiday anyone?)

Formula part 2. Succesful Product creation?...
Right, so 'The Big Formula' has now revealed what you need to make per day (in terms of moolah), and has allowed you to figure out how many web sites you feel you'll need in order to make it happen. So now you need a product right? - read on for more amazing formulaic tomfoolery on how to create stuff that you can sell to achieve your DRR!

Side Note:There's is no point in creating a product you're unhappy with, you feel uncomfortable with, or you'd never want to buy yourself . If you create a product that helps spammers send a bazillion emails a second, but you know it's wrong, don't do it. Period.

    Good or bad product -
FWWFO (Find what works for others) + IIS (Improve it substantially) + AV (Add value) = SP (Successful product)

and when you realize the following...

    CCTNW + CCTETTW < CGSTANGOPN + CSMFI

(Creating stuff that no-one wants) + (Creating stuff that everyone thinks they want) IS WORTH < LESS THAN (Creating good stuff that a niche group of people need) + (Charging significantly more for it)

Then, you should begin see that by breaking down you're initial goal of $36,000 into manageable chunks, that it's definately achievable.

    In review:

    NO: Creating stuff that no-one wants = No-one buys...never...ever...ever.

NO: Creating stuff that everyone thinks they want = 99% + refund rate, because they realize they don't want it after they've bought it.

YES!: Creating good stuff that a niche group of people need, & charging appropriately. = People realize its value (saves time, monetary etc.), and are happy to pay for quality products that help them achieve the results they want.

To cut a long formula short, find a niche group of people that want to buy something, and then provide them with that 'something' to buy.

Remember - for this example you're only trying to create/promote 1 product of $98.70 value, or 4 products of $27 value each. So, just do it!

(This method has been made up on the spot and probably makes no sense at all, I haven't proof read it or anything fancy like that. But what the hey, there it is in all its glory. Print it, use it, live it. Or delete it, you choose )

Everyones responses are being great. I appreciate it.

This response in particular made me smile and feel like I can do it. Sometimes I need this kind of motivation.

My problem is that I DO know that Internet has a lot of potential to earn money, but I haven't seen the money yet.

I have sold 2 domains that made me about 200$, I have earned about 300$ with PTC sites, but nothing too constant.

and Yes, I think my main problem is to jump from idea to idea, trying to find the goldmine.

Thanks to all guys! ....and keep the comments coming....Please!! You are motivating me very much.

It sounds kind of "nerdish",....but you are becoming my family.

People new to IM get bombarded and confused by the huge amount of info out there.
But the reality is that most don't seem to get at first is that all that info out there, which a lot of it is good, is fot the IMer who has had some success and understands the very basics.
If you reverse engineer most of these methods you will find at their core, a very simple concept that you must understand. This concept is that there are 3 things you must have to make money online: 1. You must have a desirable product (yours or someone
    elses).
    2. You must have a webpage with a converting offer for
    that product.
    3. You must drive traffic to that product.

Thats all you need and you will make money if you put these three simple things to work for you.
Now to make it fast and easy. 1 Go to clickbank and find a product that is currently
having success. This takes care of #1 and #2 above
since the product you have chosen, if it is currently
successful will also have a converting webpage.

2 drive traffic to this page including your affiliate id.

Now here is the biggest thing most people I have worked with. There are many ways to drive traffic and once you learn how to successfully drive traffic you will never have any problems again.
The problem comes in usually when someone tries one traffic driving method and has no results they think it doesn't work and go on to another. You need to pick one method and stick with it until it works. Become a master of just that one traffic method before moving on to the next.
This will make all the difference in the world for you I promise. So go now and begin searching how to drive traffic. You already know how to get your product and converting page.
Stick to free traffic methods for now. Once you start bringing in some money and understand how it really works only then should you start expanding into different areas and learning advance tactics. You really have to have the basics down. You have to have a working knowledge of the basics not just conceptual understanding.
    Good Luck, Philip

I would be willing to bet that the majority in this industry fail.

There seems to be a lot of "feel good" going on, but not a lot of money making.

It's very similar with daytraders. 5% of them make money, but there are websites all over where losing daytraders hang out to get tips from other losing day traders and confidence boosts and uptalks.

Come to think of it, there are a lot of parallels between the two industries:

    1. There are tons of BS products out there designed to help you make money (For IM, it's pyramid schemes and all the other "I make $3,000 a day selling these affiliate marketing products (pay me $97 to find out which ones!)", and for trading, it's forex robots and other bullshit programs that don't work).

    2. Low barriers to entry. For IM you just need to buy a domain ($10) and hosting ($<10/month). For day trading you just need to open an account.

    3. Promises of riches "I make $3k per day with AM!!!" "My Forex robots make me $3k overnight while I sleep!"

    4. Fake income sheets all over the place. I've seen a few with IM, but for trading, they are literally ALL OVER as fake gurus try to lure noobs in. "Look at this, I made $5k today. Give me your money and I'll train you, young padawan."

    5. Websites full of people who despite studying for weeks/months/years, still aren't profitable and can't figure out why.

    Hmm...

Keep reading this forum and think positive. Remember just by being tuned into this forum you are learning something new everyday. One of these days it will start to click.

      Tram:

I am also working during the day and work on my Im every night of the week till 11:00 pm and 10-15 hours on the weekend. I have been putting in these hours now for 6 months and am starting to see some decent cash flow......i won't mention how much, that does not matter, what matters is find a model that works and don't stop. I have over 75 blogger blogs and
      5 static websites.

Here is one quickie model I use and it costs less than $10.00 and time.

I thought about doing a WSO on this some day but what the heck, I will give it to the forum here and anyone can tweak it and be creative and hopefully someone else can be successful. This is not anything new but it works for me.

I will try to make this as simple as possible:

      1. Sell something on Ebay to raise $10.00

      2. Find a business niche in any city,( lets use Austin,TX)( carpet cleaning)

      3. Do some keyword research.

      4. Purchase a domain name ( bestcarpetcleanerinaustin)($10.00)

      5. Create a blogger blog (free)and put some info on there about how this domain name can make their carpet cleaning company in Austin tx more profitable by redirecting the domain name to their website, or creating a website for them that will drive traffic to their main website, or whatever be creative. ( you can sell the domain name to them or lease it to them monthly) I have 7 domain names that I lease monthly to businesses.

      6. Go to the yellowpages.com and get the email addresses of every carpet cleaning company in Austin tx. ( There are over 400 carpet cleaning companies or related businesses in Austin TX)

      7. Send everyone of those businesses an email with your blogger blog link in the email. ( your email needs to catch their attention) You can call them if you want, but I very seldom do.

      8. Sell or lease one of them your domain name and rinse and repeat to another city or another niche business in Austin Tx. I do not think you will ever run out of prospects in this country.

I want to thank numerous warriors ( andrew cavanaugh, Don Alm, Steve W.( you know who he is but I cannot spell it or let alone pronounce it ( haha) and many others. I have read and tweaked their models and am having some success. My only goal is to make enough money to quit my day job so I can spend more time with my family. If I happen to hit a homerun and make more money than i need to live on, well that would be cool too.

Sorry if this does not make sense to anyone I am in a hurry typing this as I am now 10 minutes late for my Grandsons birthday party. ( ps I did not use spell checker either, sorry)

Anyways I hope this helps you and anyone else reading this to think of some different and creative ways to MAKE MONEY!

PS. I just purchased a $1.00 wso from Asian Lunatic that I think will be a blockbuster for me as long as unemployment is going to be around for a while and I will be able to tweak it to again use it in any city in America.

It takes a lot of willpower to choose a course of action and stick with it - I am saying this from experience. At this point, I've read so many things and even tried a few. I KNOW what to do and the pieces are just started to click. Throughout the process, though, I've maintained a positive attitude. Each sale I DO make brightens my whole week. Now that I focus, the sales are coming more frequently now.

Someone mentioned to choose something that fits your personality. I happen to love Squidoo, Blogging, and setting up niche sites so those are the things I'm focusing on. Freelance writing work keeps the bank account happy while working on these other projects and writing translates in a big way to selling information products so life is starting to make sense for me.

It's been nearly two years, and the progress I've made with IM is marginal in comparison to some. But their story isn't mine so I've learned to filter all of that out as clutter. Plus, it doesn't hurt that I'm quite stubborn (persistent) so I've always known that I WILL make a success of this. I think that's the true difference between those who make it and those who don't.

You need to follow a successful plan... i.e. someone who is already making the kind of money you want to be making.

Take a look at their systems, deconstruct them, get on their lists and see what information they deliver, see their patterns and pay attention to their business habits.

    Follow success...

Chewie, your post couldn't have come at a better time for me to reply.

Back in about 1997, I got fired from my job and went online to look at classified ads for jobs and, to make a long story short, wound up working online. I built a business big enough so that I could live on it. I did this until 2001.

In 2001, for reasons I won't bore you with, I lost it all. Had to go out and get a job. And, after all that time working at home, it was hell, let me tell you.

Since then, I kept looking backward, wishing I hadn't lost it. So, last April, I figured it was enough. I quit my job and started working online again.

Only, everything had changed. It was so easy the first time, a case of being in the right place at the right time, I thought. I wondered if it would ever happen again. I had the same feelings you're having right now.

But, I pushed on because I just knew, since I had done it before, I could do it again. 10 months with no income to speak of, and hours and hours in front of the computer every day and every night.

And, all the while, listening to my significant other lecture me about how it takes two incomes to live and I'd better get my head out of the clouds and "for God's sake, why do you have to spend so much time on the damn computer!!!"

And now, 10 months later, just about two weeks ago, I found yet ANOTHER way to make money online, bought the course, learned it, and put it into action. And, you guessed it, it worked.

I've have made four times the amount of money in the last 10 days than I made in that entire, LONG, 10 months.

In fact, after just 10 days, I'm looking to oursource some of the work because I can't keep up doing it all by myself.

So, there you have it. Everyone says "keep trying." Those that tell you to keep trying say it because they've been where you are, and they got through it.

BUT, anyone with the "entreprenurial spirit" will tell you that you've GOT to believe that it will happen. No matter how much your friends and family tell you that you're wasting your time, you've got to have the heart, the desire, and the belief in yourself to ignore them and go out and get what you know is possible.

I believe it is a lack of heart and belief that makes those 98% of all internet marketers fail, rather than lack of a good product or idea.

The ideas and products and methods are out there for the taking. 1000's of people earning their living online have proven that.

You just have to decide if you have the belief in it and the desire to achieve it to carry you through until it happens.

    Good luck Chewie.

A common denominator I see in people who don't make much money online is that they are trying to sell information. Also, this is often in the make money online niche. Usually what they are selling doesn't appeal enough.

A simpler way to success is to sell some kind of physical product that people are already buying elsewhere.

Or become an affiliate for multiple different things or companies.

If you do the right things, anyone can make at least $1,000 in their first month.

The key is doing the RIGHT things obviously. Then as your experience and skills grow the $1,000 will turn into $5,000 and then onwards and upwards.

Usually the first $1,000 is the hardest.

Dave - Thanks for the kind words and sharing your method!

I recently ran my first ppc campaign, and lost $90...Made my first sale which was promptly refunded.(Awesome) Finding a niche to get into and stick with is a problem for me. After running the campaign, I asked myself.."would I buy this crap?". I answered no and decided I needed to try something else. With a new product I have been doing some video marketing, which has been very successful in terms of views but not so much in sales. When I started in IM, in the early days of AOL making money was like taking candy from a baby. Especially having friends around to point me in the right direction if need be, supply new tools etc.. Coming back into this game alone has been ROUGH!

I think its important to remember that "Internet Marketing" is just
    MARKETING...

    Selling stuff...

    Thats it...

If you want to do this for a living, then you need to learn how to sell and you need some "stuff" to sell. The way that you sell (articles, forums, ads, etc.) is just a detail.

Find products or services that you BELIEVE in... that you enjoy or are passionate about because
    1) You will sell much better when you believe in what you are selling
    2) You are gonna be seeing alot of it, so you better like it

I have been making a living doing "online for offline" consulting. Its the best niche for me now (though I am always looking at others). I am also working on building up my own products. I have a passion for teaching and helping people, so it works for me. You might be better off selling something else.

Be careful about trying to copy the IM gurus... the industry is saturated. The people you don't see that are succeeding are selling in niches that you and I probably aren't aware of... dog collars, hubcaps, antique watches, etc... The gurus are selling you info on how THEY are succeeding selling info... the dog collar guy makes money selling dog collars and probably doesn't want to advertise how they are succeeding.

    1) Find a market - people that want to buy something

    2) Then find the stuff they want to buy (create it, resell it, get it wholesale, affiliate, etc.)

    3) Sell the people in #1 the stuff they want in #2

Thats a simplification, but it works.

    TRUE STORY:
About 7 years ago, a guy I know went to pick up his girlfriend from the college she attended. She was finishing up class, so he went to the library to kill time. Being a car buff, he was just browsing the classifieds for cars in different areas.

Then he saw that a person in Arizona wanted to buy a specific type of Ferrari... and he had just seen in another paper that a person in Illinois wanted to sell a specific type of Ferrari. So he called them both, and ended up flipping the car from one to the other! He flew to Illinois, picked up the car, drove it to Arizona and then flew home... only took a few days and he made enough profit to support himself for months.

So he did it again, and again, and again...

Last I heard, he is living in a huge house in California and was brokering a deal to buy some really expensive watch (like, millions of dollars for a watch - crazy) and has flipped cars, houses, businesses, etc.

BOTTOM LINE: This guy built a fortune out of finding stuff that people wanted to buy, and selling it to them.

All it took was an open mind, the willingness to take a calculated risk and the will to jump on an opportunity when it presented itself.

Be patient and persistent. If you continue in your search, you will find success....

Anythings possible in this lifetime. The only limitation is yourself. The world as a whole is just one big pie filled with cash. It all depends on how big a slice you can get for yourself. I'm afriad it's just down to a mix of patience, time and effort, trying different methods, learning from your mistakes... and the willingness to make these mistakes, and then brush them off and carry on.

The main thing to do is learn, and soak up as much information as you can off these forums. Just remember though that not all that you read is gospel and not everything will work for YOU. Take what you can and work it.

And most importantly... don't give up. It will most likely take time but once you find a winning forumula, you will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Internet marketing doesn't have to cost you anything really.... just hosting and a domain name or two.

The world is your oyster. Good luck!

4 months is quite a short period of time so I wouldn't feel too bad about that.

Clickbank, digital products and the IM niche arent the be all and end all.

I've found one of the hardest things is to get promotions out there, you have to be offering something for people to buy or sign up for.

Often I've sat there pondering about what I could do, before I know it 30 minutes have passed, could have done something useful with that time.

      It all adds up!

Thinking about how you will do things is good but at times it can be your worst enemy.

Instead of promoting stuff a person can sit there thinking.

      What if it fails?
      What if I lose money
What if I ruin my reputation
      What if no-one trusts me
      What if it looks bad
What if it's a waste of time
What if I can't do it.

Before you know it you've wasted your time on what if's rather than doing something practical, making people offers, driving traffic, building your list, selling stuff.

Whatever you choose to do has to be within your means.

Find a plan of action and analyze it, pick one that you think you can realistically follow through, consider how much time and money you can commit to your plan.

Commit to it and be prepared to stick with it if it doesn't work out at first, be prepared for the temptation that kicks in motivating you to look for another plan, be prepared to do things that others will make excuses about doing.

      Squeeze Pages
      PPC
      Hosting
      Sales Pages
      Paying for traffic.
      Writing Articles

If your first attempt at your plan fails don't spit out your dummy, try again and again, separates the men from the boys.

Make people an offer, then make them an offer, then make them an offer, then make them another offer, after that make them an offer.

All of that can be done in different ways, emails, PPC, articles, websites, blogs, videos, the list goes on.

Just think you could spend two years bouncing around between plans and pondering the what ifs or you could spend it making people offers.

When your offer hits paydirt get more people to look at the offer.

Don't expect success overnight, in most cases when people tell you that it's pie in the sky or they're warming you up.

Tell yourself you won't be the jack of all trades and master of none.

I think your goal of $36k is too low. It's not exciting enough for you and it's creating a filter in your thinking. I had a job in 1993 earning $1,000 a month. My boss was making $60k but told me he was going to make $1 million that year. I thought he was full of crap. The next year he made well over $ 1 million. I saw it happen with my own eyes and knew it could be done. I tried it on my own but failed. So I went to work for someone else (the old boss was rich but kind of flakey). This time I offered to work for $500 a month just to learn. This was 1995. My pay started to grow and I learned the system. All along my goal was no longer to make a living or even $100k a year. I wanted to make $ 1 million. I went on my own in 1997 and made millions in the next three years. I surprised myself and everyone who knew me. How did it happen? I had a goal that excited me.
I saw it happen and knew it was real.
I learned a system and repeated it over-and-over.
    I had a mentor.

By-the-way, this had nothing to do with internet marketing. But, there are people in internet marketing that make huge money - and not just selling "make money" stuff.

Hope that helps. I'm not promoting anything yet. Just learning like you.

Interesting post, I think is all absolutely possible. There would just be a need to find a proven plan that fits well with who you are and what to work with, and stick to it.
The best way to approach it is to focus on one idea and stick to it rather than skipping from idea to idea. When you're focused on one idea and see even just a small success then you will be become even more invested and enthusiastic about it. If you change your current actions it will change your current results, which in turn will change your beliefs. Good luck and best wishes!

    Hi Chewie,

I recently made a blog post that may help with your current situation. I'm copying and pasting the post below. I hope this helps!

2008 is almost over and 2009 is coming up in just a few days... How was 2008 for you?

For me, 2008 is definitely a great year. It moves me a step closer to my ultimate goal, which is to achieve a dream Internet lifestyle.

While I'm currently enjoying a decent 4-figure online monthly income, I'd certainly want to make that to a 5 and 6 figure on autopilot as I continue to build upon my online business.

Do you want to know how I was able to quit my job and earn a nice 4-figure online monthly income?

Let me tell you a Secret...

I was able to do that because I took massive ACTION!

Rather than planning and analyzing every single possible detail, I simply took Action...Massive Action.

While my friends partied all night long, I'm sat in front of my laptop building my Internet business and online assets every weekday, at times scratching my head trying to learn new Internet Marketing skills.

Yes, I don't know everything and I'm proud to admit that I don't know everything about Internet Marketing.

    And you know what?

No Internet marketer on this planet knows everything there is to know about Internet Marketing! If they tell you they do, they are lying to you simply just to impress you or they are simply embarrassed to tell you that they don't know everything.

But me... I'm proud to say that I'm always trying to learn new things to keep myself updated. If I don't do this, I'd be annihilated sooner or later by the fierce competition out there.

But hey that's okay - we all need to keep learning don't we?

Coming back to the topic at hand, I became a full time Internet Marketer at the beginning of 2008, and I created my first ever product in March 2008 (for the Indonesian market - which is where I'm from).

From then on till today (December 2008), I have developed and marketed a total of 6 products in the Internet Marketing niche.

5 for the Indonesian market, and 1 for the International market (Beginners Blog Profits).

I consider myself very lucky and blessed to have come this far. Although it is by no means an excellent feat, I'm still proud to what I have achieved nonetheless.

Why am I telling you all these?

You see, 2008 is almost history and 2009 is coming up in just a few short days.

I want you to have a fantastically successful 2009. Picture yourself living that dream Internet lifestyle. 99.999% of the time, you won't be able to live this dream lifestyle in the span of just one year. It takes more time and hard work.

But that's okay because as long as you are moving closer to your ultimate goals with each passing year, you are in good shape.

Success in any endeavor, not just in business, is built upon consistent hard work and perseverance. This is a very important fact you must keep in mind. With that said, the next time someone promises you instant riches without having to do any work, RUN as far as you can!

Okay, so these are the things I want you to do TODAY to start carving a path leading towards success in 2009:

    1. Always arm yourself with the right mindset and attitude

The first step that you MUST (no exception) is to start believing in yourself that you can become a successful Internet entrepreneur.

    No exception!

Think about this carefully and seriously...

If you don't believe in yourself, how the heck do you expect others to believe in you? If you have this kind of weak attitude, your customers, affiliates, JV partners, team members will NOT believe in you either.

I mean, why should they believe in someone who doesn't even believe in himself? I certainly won't, and I bet you won't either!

Let me tell you a harsh fact - if you don't believe in yourself, you will 100% definitely FAIL!

Only when you start believing in yourself can you start to make things happen.

However this doesn't mean that you will surely succeed even though you believe in yourself. It takes more than that, even though believing in yourself is a very good first step towards achieving your goals.

So let me take you to the next step I want you to do...

    2. To achieve real Success, Failure is a MUST

Before you jumped at me shouting: "That is so not true, because I know some people who have achieved great success without experiencing any failure at all!"

Let me tell you that these people who have achieved great success without any failure at all is very, very, very, very, very, very rare.

The reason why I said "To achieve real success, Failure is a must" is because 99.999999% of the time you will fail first before achieving any success, unless you belong to the group of people who are very, very, very rare.

By preparing you for the worst (failure), you won't be as disappointed as had I not equipped you with this kind of mindset and attitude, when you indeed do fail.

When the time comes for you to fail, I advise you to fail graciously, learn from your mistakes, and become even stronger and wiser to move closer towards your goals.

    3. I want you to think ahead what you want to achieve for 2009. What are your goals?

Write them down on your whiteboard so that you can see them and be reminded of them every single day. If you don't have a whiteboard, write them down on a piece of paper and stick it in your room.

    I'm serious...

We need to be reminded of our goals every day. If not, we'll get sidetracked and spend time and do things that are totally not related to what our ultimate goals are. When we do this, we are wasting our precious time.

There are a lot of distractions out there, and by seeing our goals every day, we'll always be reminded what we should be doing and what we should not be doing.

Stop that useless chat on Skype, MSN or Yahoo Messenger!

Stop checking your freaking inbox every 5 minutes.

You have better things to do - and that is to build upon your business consistently, so start thinking today what you want to achieve in 2009 and write down your goals.

    4. Start taking Massive ACTION

Simply having a goal or goals that you want to achieve is not enough. You need to take Massive Action.

Plan on how you are going to achieve your goals. What will you do? What strategies will you undertake?

Don't spend too much time planning though, because if you do you'll probably end up planning all day long without actually doing! And that is a disaster because you'll remain where you are now come end of 2009 - still the same, old you.

We don't want that to happen, so start taking Massive Action once you have done some kind of planning.

Remember - don't try to be a perfectionist who needs to have every single little detail planned out first before taking any kind of action.

Just do it first, and correct as well as improve as you go. Garner the momentum and start doing first and the rest will follow.

    Trust me!

    5. Do It TODAY!!!

Most people who have read this far will think and say to themselves: "Yeah I agree with all of the above Welly, but since this is the end of 2008 and new year celebrations is coming, therefore I'll just take action at the beginning of next year."

    ...and you know what?

YES, these people will NOT take any kind of action come beginning of next year. They will continue to procrastinate forever...

But I know you, loyal reader of this blog, is different from them right? I know you will take massive action TODAY and start moving towards your goals!

By taking action today, you are slowly but surely building your business every single day. It is through consistent action and perseverance that one will actually succeed in his or her endeavor.

Alright, I'm going to sign off for now. Remember to do the 5 steps above TODAY to start carving your own success path in 2009!

Don't let others determine your destiny, create yours TODAY.

Cheers, Merry Christmas and to a Happy 2009 New Year! Please leave any thoughts or comments below...

i think you should focus on ONE way of making money
    and STICK TO IT...

for me, i just focus on selling ebooks on clickbank
and it has grown slowly but surely...

...just 1.5 years ago, i was working as a store clerk...
but because of the info product business, i was
able to quit my job...and FINALLY get out of
    my parent's house...

but yes, you can do it but my advice is to FOCUS
on one method that works for you...don't try to do
blogging, affiliate marketing, ebooks, ppc, etc
    all at once...

JUST FOCUS ON 1 method & MASTER IT! Keep
doing that...that's how you will build your wealth...

also figure out WHY you want to do this...u need
to have your own INNER REASON why you want
    to go into IM...

a lot of people look for the HOW TO but i think
the WHY TO is more important...

once you figure out WHY you want to do this...
a reason deep & strong enough, you will have the
motivation to take actions in the HOW TO's...

    good luck man

It took me more than 3 years to make a regular income from Internet!
I started before I got in University, and I kept trying but never made
consistent income. In that time I graduated and got a job too...

If I had given up trying then, I would have been in deep sh!t today.
I had a good job as a Software Engineer and just last week, the company
closed down (it went bankrupt or whatever).

And now I feel proud that I still have my one source of income from Internet,
and I have decided to go online fulltime and double this income so I won't
need to rely on the insecurity of a job...

So, yes it is possible. You gotta find out what works for you. I also hated
writing articles and all those years I avoided trying article marketing. In the end,
I decided to give it a shot and it worked for me. Today, I don't even have to
write the articles myself, I just outsource. But there is a lot more I have to do...

    All the best to you,
    Zuberr

    here's my take.

Internet Marketing isn't for everybody - which means only a minority will be successful.

Giving up early might be the better move for most of you unless you have enough financial backing to support your lack of a real income.

Same reasoning as not everybody can be a doctor, nba player, poker pro, rock star, actor, etc.
