email marketing is almost a lost art. How many of you still use it for Clickbank, affiliates, CPA?

Another of course is list building. How many of you are building email lists by offering incentives in exchange for their email? Thanks.

I sure do! List building and email marketing is the lifeblood of my business and 75% of my income comes from it. While it is not easy to build and sustain a massive list, and it does take work and time, the long term return for my efforts is what puts food on the table at my house.

There is no better way to communicate with your potential customer than straight to their e-mail box. Most of my time and marketing efforts involve developing new ways to build my lists. Just make sure you choose a long term, profitable niche where the people are spending money and you will be rewarded.

For me its the most important aspect to my business. If i lost all my sites but still had my list, I can still make money by marketing to my list.

Look at any of the top internet marketers they all advocate to build your list.

I agree with dspleoiam, when marketing to your list quality does matter. Gone are the days where you could just bombard your list with products to buy. The art lies in giving good quality useful information, building a relationship & sending product recommendations.

I do believe though that with the emergence of Social Media with facebook likes and twitter followers etc this is just an extension of the email marketing model and combining the two works really well.

^This. I dabbled with email marketing in the past but didn't pay enough attention to the quality of my email list -- it's no wonder I didn't get anywhere. If I decide to go that route again, at least I'll have a better idea of what I should be focusing on.

I've never really used e-mail marketing. However, I know that it is not lost. Personally, I am part of quite a few lists and I do read e-mails that are sent to me. So, I don't think it’s a lost art.

I think you'd be surprised at how many internet marketers rely on email marketing for a huge chunk of their revenue.

I love email marketing because you can market to a lead over and over again whilst at the same time building up trust and brand reputation in the eyes of your prospects.

To me, email marketing is an essential if you're looking to create a long term internet business.

If you're not email marketing, then you're simply building your online empire on sand. That's no joke my friend.

Dann makes a great point . You worked hard for that customer, to sell to them once? Many people hear email marketing, and they assume it's only for the IM niche. You should be doing it no matter what you promote.

Email newsletters are fast and inexpensive to create. So you can send them more regularly than paper ones. And email marketing puts you in customers' inboxes more accurately than regular email

list marketing will make you a LOT of money if you do it right. You need a funnel, a offer, a upsale, a downsale maybe an autoresponder full of messages that convert and good broadcasts. If you can pull that off well and you know what a 4 day cash machine is you are good to go.

Oh and you need to get traffic to your squeeze. NoNE OF IT EASY BUT IF YOU WANT MONEY YOU WILL WORK IT OUT AND DO IT.

    Why is list-building "another"?

Aren't these the same thing? What's the purpose of list-building if you're not doing email marketing?

List building isn't limited to just e-mail marketing. It's a "square is a rectangle, but a rectangle isn't a square" situation.

List building is capturing prospect and client details for future marketing.

E-mail marketing is sending people (on your list) e-mails related to product offers.

You could build a list of cell phone numbers, and send text-based marketing offers, and still be list building for that purpose even if you don't capture e-mail information.

Quality outranks quantity any day. There are some marketers whose email I read every time no matter what their headline but most are headline deciders for me.

I base my choice on the way they use their list. The minute I get bombarded with emails selling stuff (regardless of how good), I'm out. The marketers who send an email because it relates to their launch/wso/website and it contains a promotion, I will take more notice. The marketers who send me useful links to posts and videos that they or someone else has generated are my favorites.

so, its all about how you do what you do and be authentic and generous to your readers

    that's my two penneth
