Consulting - fees and promises
Hello everyone, excuse my noobiness. I am new to IM, but somwhat familiar with HTML and CSS etc. I have made several pages, and never even considered traffic building - i just assumed, "if you build it, they will come".
so, a couple days on WF has made me realize what the truth is. And apparently I wont shut up about it, ive been telling all my friends about my newfound love.
So tonight, my friend, a photographer, says to me "well, how much to get me on page 1 for google?" I panic. Hes a photographer in a VERY competitive photo town. I dont know what to say. He wants to hire me, and just wants a price. I dont want to guarantee him getting on page 1 of google, so i dont even quote him a price. A small fish lets another bite get away. I understand a real IM guy would have made a sale right there.
But he is my friend - i dont want to promise the world and not be able to deliver, or worse yet buy some fiverr gigs and get his site punished in the next google algo update.
Any thoughts anyone has on this would help me immensely.
