Review my site, please

Hello. I finally managed to launch my website after a lot of struggle with technical stuff. So I hope everything works now.

Film Screenshot Quiz

I'd like your opinions on the coherence of the page, ad layout and my chosen monetization method.

This is my first website and attempt at IM, so please, be critical.

Its pretty good just one suggestion shrink your banners in your left widgets so that they don't look so cramped.

Yeah well I tried resizing them but there seems to be some kind of margin in left sidebar and I was unable to manage it. But i removed the graphic ads anyway.

      1. I will look into removing those statements.
      2. I will try to break the How To section into somethin easier to read. English is not my first language but I try my best.

As for other ideas, I don't know I really like the background, is it making the site too confusing?
How should I approach the advertisements? I already removed the animated banners but I think keeping the text links at the beginning of each post and on the left sidebar can't be too bad, eh?

I don't wanna switch the theme as I couldn't find anything Buddypress compatible with two sidebars. Maybe I will customize it in the future.

Thank you guys for replies, they mean a lot to me. Keep em coming.

Actually I have some more suggestions

    1. At the bottom of the site remove the 'powered by' statements… it makes it look like you aren't paying attention to details. (if you don't know how google it, it's very straight forward)

    2. Re write the how it works section to make it easier to understand and remove the one grammatical error. (located in the first sentence)

    3. You have done a good job for your first site just a few little changes needed. Keep polishing it and try to make the over all feel of the site less crowded.

If you don't know how to shrink images just google it and then convert your smaller image into html to put in your widgets area.

    Good Work.

    its a pretty hectic site...

I also suggest removing the ads until the site starts getting traffic and then slowly introduce them to the site :-)

But its not too bad considering its your first site... keep working on it and it will get better :-)

As you have used buddypress for your website, I suggest you have a look at my website called Lets Chinwag maybe it might encourage you to swap themes because its pretty basic and looks abit on the messy side.

There is a random search button in the top right hand corner that does nothing? Also I would say add a few more users to make the site look a bit busier or not have the section where you can see members. Even if you create a hundred or so profiles yourself. Although competing with 5 other people for a $25 dollar prize each month seems quite appealing actually!)

Yeah I use All-in-one-SEO but as you can see my whole website is built around images which cannot be identified, so it's kinda hard.

I mean if someone gets the answer right I go back and edit the post (put the film title in the post title etc.) but I don't really know what else i could be SEOing.

I was thinking writing weekly post on film related stuff. I coud have a blog category. What do you think?

As for ads I think the text ads I left are OK. I'll think about adding some animated later.
For now it's really important to gain some userbase. I have only 6 users so far

Someone mention about ads, to remove them, I wouldn't do it, I start all my website with ads , I prepare them and find the best positions to get clicks and later on move them around to get the best position. If you don't have 10 ads plus pops ups, no one will mind this. Good luck

I think just keep tweaking and keep researching your competition for ideas.

Also on the left side panel, put a capital on the start of each sentence. It's the details that make it

I also think it'd be worth getting a designer (you don't have to pay out the nose either) to redesign your top banner. It gets the point across but it lacks a little razzle dazzle.

I think it might be worth looking into another theme or at the least background.

Keep at it bro, and keep researching SEO, quality content and your competition.
