Odesk is the best place, you can track your worker, have screen shots from his desktop and pay him only when he work.

    Hi,

I always recommend IVAA - International Virtual Assistants Association. It's the trade association of Virtual Assistants and encompasses all countries. Keep in mind that you can find a Virtual Assistant in rural areas in the United States for a really low hourly rate.

Hi John Jonas, arent you the owner of onlinejobs.ph?

And I was specific, I said I need someone that can write very well..Specifically sales copy. I used onlinejobs.ph awhile back, and although some were good, I wasn't sure about the quality of writing, at least not in copywriting, which requires a good grasp of using english slang effectively. I love the Philippines, and Filipino people, but they often can't write in a way that doesn't scream outsourced to a the Philippines.

Hi, i have tried odesk.com before. It's really good! You can pay worker for as low as $5 but that depends on the job that you re offering, you might get less bidder if you have less payment. Other than that, Guru.com, freelancer.com, and elance.com.

I have had quite a few good workers come through Odesk. One thing that you should consider though. VAs will all have their strengths and weaknesses. You are going to have a hard time if you are looking for a VA that is an extremely strong writer, SEO expert, social media guru, etc. for 5 dollars. That is going to be like hiring a US worker with the same criteria, then expecting them to work for minimum wage.

My VA told me I should respond to you.
I have a girl who writes sales copy for me, but not IM sales copy.
You can find really great writers in the Philippines, but if you're writing sales copy for clients you'd be better off finding someone in the US.
I've tried all kinds of ways of getting copy written and, unless it's for a smaller market, I always come back to people in the US.

As far as finding a VA to do it, maybe try craigslist? Ask for someone who enjoys writing. Have them write a short sales piece to see their propensity for sales.

I've hired people on elance before for sales copy...mixed results.

I have a training inside replacemyself.com for writing sales copy to help someone learn how to do it effectively. Might be helpful to you so you don't have to train them from the ground up.

I would recommend oDesk for hiring but make sure you do a thorough interview before you hire.

If you are looking for a freelancer, you've seen plenty of recommendations already.

If you want to help your business with a full time permanent virtual staff member, then you need to avoid freelance sites.

LOTS of great advice in the free training manual you'll get here:

(Sign up and it will be in your "training" tab)

Otherwise you can use sites such as Craigslist, VirtualStaffFinder, OnlineJobs.ph, BestJobs.ph, etc.

If you want to use a great time tracking software then start with Odesk. When you're ready to hire full-time use bestjobs.ph - I've found Odesk to be the best starter kit when you're getting started. When you use bestjobs.ph you'll be most likely paying for the entire month and you need to be ready to keep them accountable for their time.

Mostly, virtual assistant can be found from freelancing sites like oDesk.com, Elance.com, Guru.com and etc. However, if you are hiring virtual assistant from job sites like Monster.com it could be a mistake for your business. Always keep in mind that it is easy to hire virtual assistants but it is difficult to hire the right one for the job. A quick tip when hiring virtual assistants, give a short test that is related to the job that will test not only their written English but also their problem solving skills. You can also check Staff.com for full time virtual assistant in a low cost.

I have found some of my best VAs locally. No, I'm not kidding. I look for someone who has a GOOD attitude and is TRAINABLE. Some of my best VAs have been single mothers and college students. I placed free ads my local universities a few years ago and I've never looked back.

Yes, I had to interview quite a few people, but it was well worth the work. Sites like Odesk.com, guru.com, eLance.com, Craiglist.com, and the Warrior-For-Hire sections have garnered some solid VAs.

I know a lot of people who have hired fantastic quality VAs on vWorker.com: How work gets done. Guaranteed! I would strongly suggest you register there and post a project, and see what kind of a response you get.

You should be careful when you hire someone though - ratings play a huge huge factor in determining whether someone can do a long term VAing job. The level of success you will have in hiring a VA is fully dependent on how intelligent you are in your selection and interviewing process.

A lot of people say people from developing countries are not fluent in English, but from my experience, I have to disagree with such a general statement. Many of them do not have a problem the the English language. It's your job to test them and see if they know English or if they are just copy-pasting a default proposal to bid on your job.

    • There are many good resources for finding a virtual assistant. Whether you use Elance, oDesk or a private company, you should focus on finding a VA who suits your needs and your budget. Create a clear job description and determine how you will evaluate the candidates. Make sure you hire a VA with good English skills. Some websites let you look at your VA's screen to make sure they are working on your projects. If you want to find a reliable VA, consider hiring one from a specialized company.

There are many people out there will gladly help your with the right fee. oDesk freelance is usually lives in Filipino, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, etc. so the fee is quite low. 1) make a list of possible candidates and send them a template email with some basic questions

    2) from the responses you know who is worth speaking to further

    3) of those people I give them a paid test (for content spinners for example I give them a 1 hour training video and pay them to spin an article for me)

    4) From those, you usuallys find 1 or 2 gems to carve into diamonds with extra training
