Amazon Affiliates - what happens to outside USA clicks?

Greetings forum!

I have a question and wonder if I can get some clarification on the subject.

If I have amazon links to my affiliate account here in the US, what happens to out of country visitors? Right now they are about 28% of my click base and I am wondering if I am able to profit at all from that traffic or if that is lost to the seven seas. Has anyone had experience in that field?

Thanks!
-Matt

There's a limited set of products that Amazon (US) ships outside the US.

If you know what countries the majority of your overseas visitors come from, you could redirect them to the nearest Amazon site to their country.

Yea I get quite a bit of traffic to my sites from outside the US, and a lot of them do result in sales if they are buying something that can be shipped to them.

I checked with amazon US because I only had an amazon UK affiliate account. They said I needed to set up a separate amazon US affiliate account because they don't link across countries. Being in the UK I could order from amazon US for most things, but I wouldn't, because postage would be ridiculous. So if you want UK affiliate sales, you'll need a UK affilliate account too, ditto amazon.de amazon.fr etc.

and to make it easier you can get Wordpress plugins to pick up those sales. The one that I use is the affiliate link localizer

Regarding the Amazon Affiliate Link Localizer, is there a way to make it so can track which site a sale came from?

I setup the Amazon Affiliate Link Localizer plugin, but when I had a sale, in the "Tracking ID Summary" it was recorded as coming from my default tracking ID instead of the tracking ID for that particular site. The plugin settings itself only allow you to put 1 tracking ID in for each country.

I use Chris Guthrie's EasyAzon plugin which has options for link localization.

Is there any way to do this without a plugin? I don't actually have a website, I get all my clicks by advertising. I guess I should probably work on a site by now...

But is there any way to have a single link that can forward per country?

There is no way to make one single link forward to the country of the visitor. Think about it. How could a link determine the country the visitor is from?

You either have to use a plugin or if you do not want to use a plugin here is an idea for you.

Insert graphics of flags for each country you have an amazon account for. Then hyperlink each flag to the product or a similar product in that countries amazon. That way a person can click on the flag of the country closest to them and if the product is not sold in that country at least you can point them to a similar product you can recommend on amazon and get your cookie placed.

    Cooler,

I haven't use this plugin but will be using in the future.

Do you mean to say that even if ou have a different tracking id for a particular website it still uses your original tracking amazon tracking id?
