Bizarre Making Amazon Sales But No Visitors

Hi,

I recently updated one of my mini sites and created a article focused on some popular accessories and included affiliate links to the products on Amazon.

Checking my Google stats a month later the article has received minimal traffic, only around 10 uniques but I've made about 10 sales of the products I mentioned in the article.

The other weird thing is that my Amazon stats also show that no one clicked through on these particular product links to make their purchase.

Anyone know whats going on?

Thanks
Lee

Hard to tell. It may be your tracking codes are not tracking everything. Did you have a different tracking ID on it and check the wrong one?

You may want to install Statcounter (statcounter.com) on your site. It is free and gives grreat reports on what your visitors did etc. I like it much better than Analytics.

Do you mean they purchased different products from what you are offering on your site?
If that so, that is because the cookies of amazon. As long as they purchase products through your aff link, you get the commission

I personally think that all 10 visitors that you had bought what ever you were selling.

Amazon did not give you these "free" sales.

Maybe 1-3 people bought more then 1 of the items.

I had a similar issue where I made a sale with 0 clicks on one of my affiliate ID's on Jan 20. I.e. If you click the orders report for that particular "tracking ID", i.e. unchecked "combined reports", it confirms the order came from this website.

    I got paranoid and investigated further because this was unusual. I came to the conclusion that;

    1. The buyer clicked on my link the day prior? But bought the product the next day (24hr cookie) or

    2. It was an Amazon Stat glitch. or

    3. It was unintentional cookie stuffing code? I bought a pre-made website for this niche and didn't pay much attention to the way it was setup. This niche (currently #2 in google) started getting traffic. I was anxiously waiting my DEC payment and after reading stories of accounts being closed recently, i decided to look into this further. After reading about what cookie stuffing was, I noticed some of my pictures had the src image locations pointing to Amazon directly. (I.e. the pictures were stored on Amazon). I'm not sure if this is considered cookie stuffing, but i decided to save the pictures locally on the server and change the location to point to my pictures - just incase.

I also noticed at that time, my impression count was extremely high for that affiliate id. I checked today, and it is fairly normal now (I could have sworn it was really high). So it may have been a glitch in the reporting and has now been corrected?

    Cheers

At least you had sales, but it does sound a bit weird though.
I guess just keep an eye on it, if you making sales though I guess that is really all that matters.

Nice problem to have.... I wouldn't worry too much about that if I were you, if for some bizarre reason 10 unique visits results in 10 sales - then get your head down & create more traffic!!

Did you submit your articles with affiliate links intact to article directories? If so, that could be why. People stumbling upon your articles on those directories, then clicking through and buying the product.
