How did these sites get on the Huffington Post?

Just wondering how these sites got their links on the Huffington Post. If you scroll about midway down the page just under the twitter feed, you'll see 4 pink links just under the heading "Around the web:"

Here's the page these links are on:

Had no clue, don't really pay attention to the news. It's all usually crap anyway.

In answer to the original post; the website have either payed for the advertising or possibly the huffington post article writer has just taken interest in the site.

Looks like people have signed up to advertise through the aol advertising network. Probably paid a lot of money as well.

I know one of the sites is a regular photographer. I wonder how much has to be paid for that link?

I've seen traffic in my logs coming from HuffPo in a list of links like you've described. I just assumed they're using an API provided by Yahoo or some other engine to list some relevant links.

Here's another page that has some related links as you've described:

Temporary Marriage Licenses: Mexican Lawmakers Suggest Pre-Nups That Enrage The Church

Perhaps the author of the article hand picks some links to add to their article.

It would be a nice backlink to have, for sure.

It says directly below those links, "Buy a Link Here". Click that and you will be taken to the page where you can start your campaign.

I doubt the link would be a natural link to your site. The value would be the exposure, not any SEO benefits.

mraffiliate was referring to these links:

Those are regular "dofollow" links. They're not in an iframe or anything and they're not rendered by javascript.

The links near the text "Buy a Link Here" are loaded in an iframe.

Guys ..these links aren't paid. They're generated automatically from I guess either yahoo or google search based on the topic for article.

One of my entertainment sites regularly gets picked up by them. They send a TON of traffic. NOT to mention the SEO value.

Thanks for clarifying that these links aren't paid links. Do you know what exactly you are doing to get your entertainment sites picked up by the Huffington Post?
