Newbie looking to get started

Hello everyone.

I have been reading on IM for past several weeks and looking for possible areas to get started.

I have shorted listed a few areas but need some help to connect the dots.

I am not a coder/programmer or a web designer. I am internet savvy and can follow directions.

My plan:

1. Create blog sites with CTR theme for low competition keywords
2. Do basic optimization (after reading tutorials and tips)
3. Sign up for adsense and few other affiliate programs.
4. Hope to get clicks on the site and make some money?

Last part of the plan is a question mark and that's why I need some guidance from some one that is experienced in this field.

Some tools that I have heard about but not sure how I can fully utilize to help me with my plan:

craigslist email harvestor and mailer
senukex
scrapebox
market samurai

What additional tools can I use to get started?

How can I refine my plan to be more organized and ensure that I do it right?

Are these methods still profitable or considering my skill level in this field, do I need to look for some other methods?

Hoping to get some good suggestions.

Thanks everyone!

I guess I also need to start thinking like an IM person.

Just realized that I did not use a more eye catchy title for my post like:

    Newbie's Journey to IM Riches

Maybe that would help me get more viewers/responses!

    Hi, Dallasstar!
You have a powerful arsenal of tools to start your journey.
I would like to add The Best Spinner to the list.
Start reading the forum to find your own path to implement those tools.
Just get something out there, tweak it, and TAKE ACTION!
    I wish you good luck!

Hey,okay so it looks like your traffic focus is from SEO. I strongly suggest you build a mailing list, a good tool to capture leads is pop up domination. of course you will need an autoresponder service. then you can get repeat traffic and set up a sales funnel. any questions shoot me a msg

There are a lot of tools out there, but I suggest you learn to do things manually first. Then you will see what you need. Sometimes it takes longer to master a tool than what you will gain in benefits.

Yes, SEO is good, but a list can never hurt. I suggest you first familiarize yourself with SEO as you outlined correctly, then you can explore other territories as well.

Just a quick tip: To get the most out of SEO, focus on quality rather than quantity. Google is crushing down webmasters who try to trick the system, and if SEO and your site is going to be your long-term businness, you shouldn't let yourself do any shortcuts, because Google can take yur business down literally overnight with its updates. Rembmer: Keep it real and add value, and you should be fine!

        Hope that helps,
        Edward

P.S.: I recommend Aweber as the best autoresponder. They're currently offering a $1 first month subscription, so if you want to get a list started sometime soon you should check it out.

I just checked out this program. How useful is article spinning? As a business owner, the image my business presents is critical. Automatically generated articles may be the first place a viewer sees my business. If you go to thebestspinner.com and play the video it sounds great. But if you pause the video at 7:32 and actually read the articles, they are terrible!

Even grammar errors aside, they read like a poor translation from another language:

"Provided that you have the right mindset about dog instruction, you are able to ensure that your puppy will develop right into a well-mannered canine that you is usually happy with."
"Providing you may have the appropriate mindset about dog instruction, you can make sure that your puppy will expand into a well-mannered dog which you could be pleased with."
What are people's experiences with article spinning? (I recognize this is slight highjacking, but think it's relevant to the OP's question).

        Hey Tin,

I am fairly new to IM myself and one thing I have noticed about the warrior forum is how confusing it is with everyone giving conflicting information.

I came into IM thinking that you use link wheels with article spinning etc to get up the page ranks. However the more I researched into it, the more it seemed that strategy was long gone. Check out the post I made the other day about it: warriorforum. com/adsense-ppc-seo-discussion-forum/554130-whats-current-state-article-directories-backlinks-google-ranking.html

Notice Alexa Smith's post, and check out all the links she posted. Confusing right? Loads of people say that link wheels with mass article submission for backlinks still work, yet people like Alexa say it doesn't.

The people are talking about other shady things like do follow links, fiverr gigs etc and it gets even more confusing.

          Hey dallasstar

ok you want my honest opinion, follow the steps and the plan below and thats a very good start alot of marketers started this way....

          1. find a niche
          2. create 1 page landing page/squeeze page offering a free gift of good value
          3. set up your autoresponder such as aweber, get response, icontact, ( i personally use aweber)
          4. create your blog and start building an authority blog within your niche
          5. send traffic use free methods at first to your squeeze page/landing page (start building your list)

the main thing is to build a list, it's your number one asset.

start with this plan, then start building on it and expand on it.

hope this helps, if you need some help drop me a message I'd be happy to help out

@Stockypotty Thank you! That settles it.

@KevinW Thank you! This is where I have started too. Squeeze page and email list.

So Dallasstar, you should consider reading some of the articles and posts by Alexa from the link StockyPotty gave, regarding how to properly approach article marketing.

I may not necessarily flip the sites. Just need to experiment first and if I do end up making a few bucks here and there I will just hang on to the sites.
I was going to research a bit more on CTR theme and look for places where I can buy it for the lowest price.
Are there any other themes that are easy to use and help setup the ads quickly?

Make sure to stick to proven methods and only follow one pathway, by the sounds of it you have a good idea of what you want to do which is great, but just remember "Failing to plan is planning to fail" and an easy way to avoid mistakes (sometimes costly ones) can be to find a mentor.

Maybe instead of hoping you could study conversions, optimization and Adsense and affiliate programs, you could fight and make sure you convert?

    Hi,

I'm a newbie here as well so, firstly, thanks for this post! Secondly, I just want to share that I've been reading/studying IM for, literally, YEARS and haven't taken any action until now. So I commend you for making and having a plan. I think it's important to pick one thing and stick with it for a good amount of time. I think the reason it took me so long to get started is because there is so much information and so many different aspects of IM I just kept get distracted by "the next new thing" so it's important to FOCUS (Follow One Course Until Successful).

As far as your last step...keep in mind I'm a newbie so I may be wrong about this, but i think that's when you'd focus on link building.

Good luck on your venture and, again, thanks for this post!

    Hey man,

I totally dig the positive energy with which you're embarking on your IM journey.

However I would say that because I haven't really made or have ever seen anybody make good money with AdSense I wouldn't recommend that path. There is enough information out there to make SOLID income without having to spend time building too many websites and make money in cents -- literally. Not worth it.

I'm saying this because since you're just starting out you can explore other options before jumping on board with what the majority of Internet Marketers are doing unsuccessfully.

Hate to sound negative but I seriously wish the best for you.

Setting up squeeze pages, driving traffic to the pages and building an email marketing list will pay off for you.

It was the best business move I made in the last 10 years.

Having a valuable email list makes life easier.

For example, at the end of each month I send out a special to my lists. It ALWAYS pulls in big money for me. Each and every month...at the end of each month...I get a big boost in sales.

Before working with squeeze pages I just sent traffic to sales pages. BIG mistake. Most don't buy with the first visit and none of those people ever heard about these specials and other products I sell.

I agree with Cataclysm1987, but I liked your reply to his post!

Get that fighting spirit in you, take the action and reap in the results. It's all about motivation and the want to get things done. And the best way to ensure you get your tasks done is by planning them! Plan out your days and weeks, make a monthly target and do your best to hit it. Taking action is always most effective when you make a clear plan of action and you know where you stand now, and where you want to be in a months time.

Give yourself some personal goals, business goals and entrepreneur goals. This will keep you energized..

What's up man? Looks like you have a good mindset getting started.
Having a good plan is awesome but make sure you don't get caught up on making everything perfect because the biggest thing is getting yourself out there. Building a list is huge and is the best way for you to make money because you can stay in contact with people that have been to your site. Even if you don't have anything to offer them yourself, you can sell ads to your list or do ad swaps if you do have an offer so that your list can get bigger. Look into that if you don't know what it is but always make sure to stay focused because it's easy to get sucked into every new thing that comes out. Just stick to your plan and improve on it until you see results. You have a positive attitude, keep it that way and you'll go a long way.

Last part of the plan is a question mark and that's why I need some guidance from some one that is experienced in this field.

Some tools that I have heard about but not sure how I can fully utilize to help me with my plan:

    craigslist email harvestor and mailer
    HEy Dallasstar,
Sounds like you've got a pretty good idea of what you need, but let me encourage you - STAY AWAY FROM THAT E-MAIL HARVESTER!
The last thing you want just starting out, or at any point, for that matter, is to be considered a spammer. And that is all those harvesters are good for - spamming.
You will do much better in the long run to build up your subscriber base the old fashioned way - from a squeeze page with an optin.
I know a lot of people new to i/m want that big list fast, but what good will it do you if you only get blacklisted from your servers.
Stay away from that and also paid e-mail lists. They aren't worth the postage to send them!

Otherwise, good luck with your efforts. Just dig in and keep going forward!

    Wow, you guys are great!

Your comments are helping me a great deal. I am surely going to add a few more things to my plan.

As I do not have much background in web page development, I have to look deeper into things like landing/squeeze pages and building lists correctly.

But at the same time, I do not want to try and do too many things at one time.

So I will concentrate on building niche sites, integrate and implement ideas I'm getting from you guys and take it from there.

I do realize that having a "mentor" can help me immensely at this point so I'm certainly going to get in touch with everyone that is kind enough to give some time.

I'm focused, determined, have a positive attitude, willing to learn and ready to take ACTION!

I'm staying with my initial plan to build adsense site(s) and here are some updates:

    * So I've watched most of the videos on how to use Market Samurai

    * I'm comfortable installing a basic wordpress blog with CTR theme and using plugins to do onpage SEO.

    * I have access to a decent copy writer

    * I have a hosting account and adsense account

    Biggest hurdle:

Biggest hurdle right now seems to be niche selection and then keyword selection. Most of the keywords that I searched and narrowed down were too competitive. I have spent hours and hours trying to find something low competition in terms of seo/backlinks yet profitable but have not had a breakthrough.

I would appreciate some help and guidance please.

I've also discovered that I cannot send a PM to anyone until I have 50 posts???
That's not helping my cause in anyway either
