If I'm working at home from the lounge I'll eat often being close to the kitchen.

If I'm in my home office it's all too easy for me to skip meals.

nope, and i don't suggest anyone else do either. if nothing else, knock back a quick protein shake...takes just a minute or two to make and drink, everyone has time for that. 2 to 3 hours later you'll have much more energy and feel better than if you simply don't eat.

Yup same here. Sometimes I get stuck doing something around lunch time. By the time I finish its almost time to go home. I usually either leave an hour early or put 1 extra hour on my timesheet.

My day job keeps me from eating and from switching to IM full time. I opened my first for profit website in 1997 while I was in college and after graduating got a job which I still hold. I actually put in 2 week notice to quit my job for stress and other reasons in summer of 2010 but they got me back by giving me ~30% raise and asked me to stay. So here I am still playing for two teams. One of them unfortunately is getting most of the attention and stress level right now. Sometimes after coming home after work you are done and dont even want to look at the computer. Sucks playing for the other side more.

PS. One of the last year newbs at my job is day rate and came to work at 7am one day and stayed until 2am. He came in next day at 7am because he was new and because he wanted to get paid and show he was dedicated.

I skip a meal everyday out of choice and not from pressure really.
You must try the two-meal plan. You'll sleep better at nights.

I have breakfast about 10 am then dinner at 3 pm and
        that's it for the day.

How can you possibly do this? What's the secret? If I did something like that, by 8 pm or so I would have hunger pains so strong that I would not be able to fall asleep...

I used to do this.. and can testify to better energy and waistline. I guess I got caught in the corporate lunch, snack, coffee break, dinner agenda and lost my way.

Thanks Ray! I'm going back to the 2 meal day

I purposely skip meals since I am a practitioner of intermittent fasting -- it allows me to get fully absorbed in whatever work I decide to do (mostly in the morning). Doesn't bother me at all and I find that my mental focus is much better when I don't eat.

Often. I don't like doing it but when I get in flow it just happens.

Ridiculously painful trying to shove 4000 calories down your throat in like 2 hours, like someone stated above that sheer amount of food is down to bodybuilding reasons.

I'd say my first 2-3 years, absolutely. But today I'm such a health nut that there's no way I'm missing a meal, especially breakfast since it's about 38% of your day's energy.

I also snack on veggies, raw nuts, small salads, etc.

It's a tough thing to ask. I guess it depends what state you are in at your IM career.

If you're already established, take the nice relaxing lunch break.

If not, you better be crazy hard working. Forget the meals man. You need to be hungry for success.

No never! Food is one of the real needs the human being requires. Eating fuels your body so you are more productive in the time you work, if you are "in the flow" you have no idea if you are actually being productive or not.

Yes it happens to me many times, especially during the time when you have to finish lots of stuff. Based on experience, I suggest you to have some snacks on your desk to help yourself if you find yourself to lazy to go to the kitchen. Health should be prioritize above all projects and deadlines.

    • What's the point of working at home if you skip meals?

My refrigerator is full of fruit and milk products. I can whip up a fresh fruit smoothie any time I feel like it out of strawberries, a banana, cream-top yogurt and skim milk....ah, bliss. Grapes and nut bars to snack on. Orange juice.

For protein, Costco now has bags of Kirkland brand cured and dried steak strips, which are low fat and yummy. Soft, not like jerky.

I usually skip dinner -- that's a good time to go to the gym.

Home workers should be aware: You may be at risk for a Vitamin D deficiency. I was diagnosed with it last year because I spend so much time indoors. Milk doesn't give you enough effective Vitamin D; you have to get out into the sun so your body can make it.

Yeah, I meant online. I am also into fitness personally. I used to weigh 120 lbs and I'm up to 180lbs now, mostly muscle mass.

That's why I am concerned about skipping meals. And I wanted to know if it was only my concern as a "fitness guy" or other people are also concerned about it.

I also have a blog in which I help people to gain weight based on my personal experience.

          WOW!

I'd never argue with a guy who downs 5 whole eggs a day, but I need to get my protein from beef. I have chronic anemia -- the heme iron in beef is the only thing that helps.

I'd sure like to be as young and healthy as you, though, and I wish I'd started weight training earlier. You are clearly getting outstanding results.

I did do this for a while, and I felt it damaged my effectiveness of getting things done and getting them done professionally.

Even just simple things like sipping water every now and then keeps me in the flow. I try my best to always have something around me that keeps me energized otherwise my work may suffer!

Yep, I've got a "beer fridge" next to my recliner -- stocked with bottled water.

Because sometimes you just don't want to walk the 15 feet to the kitchen. :-)

Can't say I've ever missed a meal. Even though it does take time away from the computer, the 5-10 minute break (if your kitchen is well stocked) is well worth it.

Oh, I'm a Pro at multi-tasking! I can eat with one hand and type with the other (I know, bad habit). When I'm preparing breakfast lunch and dinner, after getting everything mixed up, baking, boiling or cooking, I set the timer and get back to work.

I used to skip lunch once in a while, especially when I'm in "the zone" doing work with my headphones on. Now, I eat maybe @ 2pm or so, like the others have said, just delayed meals.

I've been forgetting meals since I started my first offline business years ago.

Back then, my secretary (now we call them administrative assistance ;-) ) would pick something up for lunch for me, I'd take one bite, and get back to work and at 10 or 11pm, she would see it there and remind me that I really need to eat.

It hasn't effected my health or stamina so I'm not concerned about it.

I eat when I think about it.

This can happen very easily - sometimes without me even knowing it:p

I'm like concentrating trying to get something done and all of a sudden it's 4 hours later and it's getting late and I haven't had dinner yet - shame on me I know

I try to factor in regular breaks now and again to make sure I'm not skipping any meals etc. Very important to look after yourself, sitting at a desk all day isn't a great recipe for good health.

  • I use to skip meals not just in internet marketing but also for public speaking but did a total 180 because I got sick my sight was failing and also other big problems. Since then I take time to juice and prepare food, I do eat as much or more but changed what and how I eat and I do now take time to get off the computer and eat. My last speaking I broke out a jar with my food and it was a hit everyone wanted to know what I was eating, so that helped with sales by the way

so we can eat healthy while marketing but it take a total shift at least for me it was not an easy transition. Good luck.

Well Frankie, I think that it happens to all internet marketers at one time or another especially when their business is thriving. Let's face it were only human and human beings can get carried away and lose track of time when they are in depth with certain situations. Nevertheless, food is good for the soul and will keep you from getting sick lol. Try not to miss your meals

I drink lots of green tea when I'm working online, about two to three cups. During the days that I'm off from my day job, I drink about four cups minimum of green tea. Working online has made me a lot healthier. I haven't had a cold or any sickness throughout the past year. I have a cup of tea next to me now.
