Site Reported as Attacked!

One of my client's sites were reported as attacked. We really haven't done much SEO on this, so I really don't see it being anything we did. However, it's obviously a problem my clients would like me to help with resolving.

When you go to the site directly, it shows up fine. See http://www.waterdamagetampa-fl.com

But when you search for it as it shows up toward the bottom of the first page of Google under "water damage tampa fl" it gives a message that it's an untrusted site.

What could I do to fix this?

Look in your html source right after your body tag

You may want to contact the hosting company as it is possible that someone uploaded a malicious file on to the site. If the host company has good support they may be able to help you find it. Usually in the CP you can see which files were updated recently. This may also help you find the troublesome file.

It appears to be trying to spread a virus. Initially I got a 500 error on the URL, then MS Security Essentials told me the site was creating a malicious attack.

      Contact your hosting company.

Well dont know if you removed it already but there was suspect javascript code right after your body tag on the home page. I have seen this before and it usually means someone/bot hacked into your account and dropped a backdoor or something along those lines.

    Thanks guys.

Sillysoft, I didn't see anything weird after the body tag. What is there?

I wish I took a screen shot. Initially going to your site and viewing the html there was javascript code that was very suspicious. Again dont know if anyone like your hosting company did anything because I dont see it anymore.

It's a Hostgator site. I'm on hold with them right now. Thanks.

Yeah, going directly to the host is the best thing to do. They should be able to fix it. When I had a similar attack, my host was able fix and restore everything for me.

Looks like your website is redirecting to a Russian site when access via click from search engines.

I think your site has a malicious conditional redirect code in the .htaccess

Your host can fix these issue by restoring your site files from a recent clean backup.

Its good your talking with Hostgator their support can be very helpful. You may want to take a look at the "Theme" you client is using especially if its a free WP Theme. Many of them have unsecured code that makes it very easy for hackers to gain access.

I had this same problem except I was with Godaddy. They offered no support except for a link to google webmaster tools so I am in the process of moving all of my sites and my clients to Hostgator. The malware spread through ALL of my godady sites and cost me so much in time.

All the posts that are on this forum about sites being hacked that I have read have one thing in common, wordpress. Wordpress is bloated code that allows anyone to create addons/plugins with no real guidelines/testing of security.
