FREE Opt In Alternative to Aweber

I'm looking for a bare bones, free opt in (just temporary). Does this exist?

    Yep. It does!

    1. Mailchimp.com - problem is they do not like internet marketers so if that's what you're about, move on!

    2. Listwire.com - this is a new one I just discovered...seems great. It's free and easy to use.

    3. icontact - free 1 month trial (since you said this is temporary).

    4. constantcontact - they have some free alternative, check them out.

    5. getresponse...free for the first 500 subscribers. I use this and it works pretty well!

I'm sure there are others but these work really well.

Mailchimp hates internet marketers? Eh, really? Haven't heard of that one before. Was seriously considering Mailchimp before but jumped the gun and went with AWeber instead?

How getresponse like? A person mentioned that getresponse has the lowest rate of mail being marked as spam, but the first email he sent me went to the junk mail bin. Erm..

Read Mailchimp's Terms of Service and you'll see why they're not a good choice.

I've used Getresponse for years and they aren't bad. As far as having the lowest rate of mail being marked as spam, that is simply not true. No single company could ever claim such a thing because of all the variables involved.

Do you mean to ask, "Is there a free alternative to Aweber?"

Listwire comes to mind if that is the case, although I don't recommend you go the free route in general since free often equals more expensive in business.

I agree with Chris. Free usually = free... Aweber also has a $1 first month trial currently going on. It's worth it in the long run to use one of big guys.

They do exist, just Google "free autoresponder" and you'll find a few. Though, I've never found one worthy of running a real online business.

Why don't you take the 30 day free trial over at Getresponse? You should be able to make some coin in those 30 days, more than enough to cover any initial monthly fees.

You can also take Imnica mail for a 30 day spin for one dollar, same with Aweber. I would never trust my business to a free autoresponder, there's a reason why it's free.

I was with GetResponse for awhile and din't like them. They have terrible customer service...at least that was my experience...and their UI sucks. Very unintuitive and hard to navigate.

You are better off taking the cheap $1 or other trial offers from one of the big guys.

If you start off with a free service and build up your business and rely on the mailing list I doubt you will be able to move the list to a bigger company. Most of the bigger companies won't let you import a list from another provider. You normally have to send an email to your list from your old provider and have them "resubscribe" to your new list with your new provider. You will probably lose a lot of subscribers that won't resubscribe.

Just take Aweber for $1 dollar for 30days trial. It's more worth't.

Imnica mail is free for up to 1000 subs... then it's only $3 a month until your up to 2500...

That's still basically free, as far as I'm concerned.

Also Aweber has the $1 trial... the only problem with aweber is it starts getting expensive once you get in the 10s of thousands of subs...

Please do not consider mailchimp or permanently free a/r... there is a WORLD of difference between the value that they will give you and what a professional a/r company will do for you....

I really urge you to go with imnica, hopefully you will be earning $3 a month from your first 1000 subs to be able to afford the next package :-)

For anything that may be considered "spammy" to a recipient, I use Interspire on my own hosting account. For everything that is opt-in, I use Mail-Chimp.
The free mail-chimp account is pretty much "limitless" for small email lists...

  • Hi Marhelper, you can try a free month of about any autoresponder, including Getresponde or iContact, that are two good option.

    Thanks and see you soon,

I'm starting to think we have a moderator out to get me... let's be fair, ok? If another person in this thread is allowed to reference old threads, I should be able to do the same in response to criticisms about my service.

So if this reply sticks... please do check some back threads, just like Alexa referenced. I'd suggest these if you want to make an informed decision...
