How Many Words should a Web 2.0 article be?

Creating a linkwheel for my site and wondering how many words are optimal for web 2.0s. The articles on my site are between 500 and 700 words. Was hoping to do 300 on the web 2.0s. What do you think? Too short? I appreciate any input you are willing to share.

Here was a thread with very long discussion about that.

I think for the most part, the general consensus is that it just needs to convey the message.

And then there was another thread (can't find it at the moment) about another Google change coming out soon.

So the bottom line is to write for real people. Make the articles long enough to make your point to real people and no longer.

If you write for real people and not for search engines, you have a better chance of being ok regardless of what the search engines do. After all, they keep changing their algorithms in order to get better results for real people. ;-)

What do you mean by a Web 2.0 article, or a Web 2.0?

It really depends on what you are using the web 2.0 property for. If you are trying to get targeted traffic, the longer the better. If you are using them for backlinks or for indexing the length and/or quality is less important.
