Hiya

Complete newbie here as posted in the title, I am in the process of creating some videos to go along with the articles that I plan to release as WSO.

How long should the videos be? 5mins? 15 mins? long? what would you recommend?. They are not sales videos more like videos to go along with the articles.

Thanks all for your help

As long as they cover the subject it doesn't matter how long they are. Obviously if they're 30 seconds long there's not much of a point, but 5-15 minutes each is a good starting point.

      Coupla thoughts...

The length is secondary to how well you hold your viewers attention. I regularly watch tuts in the 45 minute plus time frame. But only if the presenter doesn't tax my senses with dullness or fumbling around.

Also, make sure you have a PDF of the transcripts to the videos if the topic lends itself to that medium. Some topics will, some topics need the visuals to make any sense and converting the topic to text requires the reader to have a more thorough understanding of the topic than the audience you are targeting might have.

Be sure to break your videos down into manageble bites that can easily be remembered and referenced at a later time. Nobody wants to scan 5 or 6 thirty minute videos to try and find that 45 seconds where you explained what they are trying to recall.

I'd say about 5-10 minutes. This is a good amount especially if you have alot to say.

Keep it at 5 mins or less, should anyone watch the videos in said articles, they shouldn't have to sit through all that to get the information they need.
