Help with creating an ebook

Hey folks,

I've started writing an ebook that I hope to sell when finished. I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of another thread or another ebook that could help with with the creating and possibly promoting of said product.

I'm not looking for how to come up with ideas. I already have that. I'm look for more specific info on creating and promoting.

Thanks alot everyone.

There are a ton of WSO's and what not.

Yeah I was kind of hoping someone would point me in the direction of a good wso.

Searching how to create an ebook on here doesn't brings in a lot of crazy/unrelated threads.

      Thanks for the site though.

    Canard,

Not sure if what you meant by 'creating' is how you set it up for sale? If it is, you can take a look at the product in my signature. That might help you.

I always found Fiverr is the best place for these kind of stuff. There you get your book done plus gigs that promote specially ebooks and help you get promoting even as Kindle etc. I don't know if you will like it but you can give a try.

      Hi Canard5...

Creating and Selling are are two different things, though it's best to plan your product creation from a sales perspective. It sounds to me like you've already found your hungry niche and identified the angle you're going to take with your product. That's a good start.

Next, I would strongly suggest a plan or outline.

You can make it brief or elaborate -- whatever suits you best. A hand-drawn mind map can work wonders here in very little time. You can then take your short points and keywords and organize these into a rough outline. This approach helps you spot any holes and it arranges your information in a way that best suits your audience. That's a major factor in creating an ebook that satisfies readers and gets recommended to their friends and subscribers.

Check out Amanda Hocking's blog (easy to find on Google) and she gives lots of great information about how she marketed her books. She has made millions of dollars doing it and is the great person to emulate.

      Re - ebook creation...

If you don't have a recent version of MS Word, you can use Open Office...
It's free to download and creating a .pdf is a one-click job.

Many people on here use it to create their ebooks.

Actually selling the ebook is a whole 'nother matter

      Best Wishes,
      Kev

As others have said, basically all you have to do is type your eBook in Microsoft Word (or whichever Office Suite you use) and then convert it to PDF. Office 2007 has a plug-in which you can install that will convert your Word document to PDF while Offfice 2010 comes with in-built PDF conversion capability. Libre Office (formerly Open Office) has an "Export to PDF" button. You may have to use other 3rd party software to convert to PDF if you are not using any of the above applications. Then you simply start selling your eBook. There are many ways and places to do this:
    1. Sell it through your website
    2. Sell it on Clickbank
    3. Sell it as a WSO
    4. Buy a solo ad in a popular eZine and sell it that way as well
    5. Do a JV where you offer your JV partner a good commission on the sale of your eBook
    6. Sell it on other platforms like Digiresults, Paydotcom, Payloadz, Tradebit, Scribd, etc
    7. Sell it on Amazon as a Kindle eBook. Provided you are not enrolled in Kindle Select, you can also sell it on other tablets and websites (like those listed above) such as iBooks, Nook, iPad and the Sony Reader
All the best with your eBook!
