Anyone gearing up for the iPad 3 conference?

Just wondering how many of you are getting set for the Apple conference starting within the hour? All set to reveal the next iPad.

Not sure if it will offer any major new opps regarding marketing - although the much rumoured retina screen display could make web browsing a lot nicer.

I noticed the other day that the first UI kit has been made available on the presumption that it will have the higher resolution!

It's free to download, but you have to opt-in. (It's not my site!)

    Interesting. I'd heard that the resolution was going to be better but not retina. I wanted a whole new iPad though...not a step-up from the iPad 3, and I get the feeling the HD won't offer much more.

    I've got a 4S so Siri isn't too important to me.

    I hope it will be much better than iPad2.

    Off topic: I can remember, I was making big money from iPad3 email submit offers 6 months ago.

    Somewhat on topic is the Apple choice to drop the model designation from the name, only referring to it as "The New iPad", not the rumored Ipad 3 or iPad HD, this would seem to lead to some initial confusion of some uninitiated shoppers who may think the iPad 2 to be a new model. (Some of the Tweeters kept waiting for a more official product name to be announced)
    This naming convention matches the iPod touch series just identified by Generation #.
    (Another noteworthy move away from cryptic model designations was Intel's renaming their processor the Pentium, which apparently was primarily for copyrighting protection from cloners.)

    Noteworthy changes, most related to improved image resolution
    * 2047 x 1536 pixels "Retina Display) (> 3 mega pixels)
    * 5 Mega pixel camera that records 1080p video
    * Quad core GPU doubling graphic processing speed (same dual chip CPU as before)
    * And 4G LTE for the lucky few who actually have coverage.
    There's an added dictation button, presumably to facilitate Siri sooner or later, it was not mentioned in the rollout.

    The Retina display is a concept: Pixels so fine that they can't be decerned by the naked eye, though not as high a dpi as the iPhone 4's (326 vs. 264 per inch) they measure the perceived resolution viewing the iPhone at 10 inches away and the iPad 15 inches from the viewer, makes sense if you consider the field of view you get.
