Is this a good sales page?

Hi,

I'm very new to affiliate marketing (4 months, ish), and am finding it a bit tough going so far! I haven't made a dollar yet ! I'm still experimenting with my approach, and at the moment am trying Facebook ads, which link directly to the sales page of the product I'm marketing, via a masked URL.

From everything I've read online about this product, it seems great, so I'm happy to promote it, but I'm wondering, is this a good sales page which is likely to convert prospects? If so, how many clicks should I expect to get, on average, before I make a sale?

Here's the link: bestmmaworkout.com

Thanks a lot in advance for your comments / ideas!

I like it. I'd promote it if I had an MMA fitness list.

Thanks a lot! The thing that got me wondering, is the fact that the sales video is 21 minutes long! Do you think that would put people off?

    Who knows man.

I think it would be better if they put a link that says "Click here if you prefer to read rather than watch the video" and it sends you to a written sales page rather than a video one.

That appeals to me a lot more.

Cool, that's a good idea! I'll contact the vendor to see if he'll make that change. To prove I'm a newbie here, how do I officially 'thank' someone here, so it shows up in their 'thanks' ratings?

Just FYI, when you view the site with an iPhone the video doesn't come up and you see text that says "This text will be replaced."

Thanks for the tip. As I mentioned above, it seems the way forward is a squeeze page, list building, and a free offer to begin with. So I'll get on and do that!

That's because the iPhone doesn't support Flash player in its browser - the video is flash based.

Thanks for the tips. It's a ClickBank product - not one of my own. I know what you mean about the tone. It is very low key. It's a shame, as I've done my research on this guy and he really seems to be very good and respected in his field! From what I keep reading, list buiilding seems to be the way...

I know a business that does home shows and nothing else and they get all their leads (which winds up being A LOT) just by doing what is bolded above.

      ENTHUSIASM IS CONTAGIOUS.

It fools people into thinking a product or service is better than it really is. The same way we all get excited about santa all while knowing he doesn't even exist... but look what our excitment does to the children.

Humans just feed into energy and life. It makes them feel like they need to do something (buy your product) but at the same point its bad to open someone up being too energetic.

In sales I generally speak just a tad bit higher energy than the person I'm selling to at first. Because if you come in too strong you scare them away. And I slowly build up the excitement and enthusiasm, slowly become more and more assertive in my tone. I notice people will usually get pulled right into that type of dynamic. Start off witty and subtle, then become high energy and enthusiastic after a few minutes. The transition for some reason seems to work well in sales. And I think NLP even talks about it too, state manipulation/state shifts and all that good stuff.

To build rapport you must be at a similar energy as most people which is usually low/boring. Then to build desire you up the antee, add more enthusiasm. Anyway its what has worked for me at least. G/luck.

Well, insofar as it comprises video and not much text (which lot of people dislike and some people can't/won't even view), I'd say it's not a good sales-page.

Then again, that doesn't account for everyone and, frankly, I know sweet beggar all about MMA so am in no position to judge on what the product promises to deliver.

What I do know, however, is that it's difficult to sell Clickbank products as an affiliate without building a mailing-list and pre-selling.

I don't wish to rain on your parade, but my own advice would be to re-evaluate your entire promotional strategy or else prepare yourself for a lot of frustration and wasted money.

I think the button doesn't show up until you've reached a certain number of posts. Ten, is it? (I can't quite remember). Not many, anyway.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, I've read a few posts tonight by veteran internet marketers that say list building is the way. So I think I'll take the hint and do that! It's a shame his sales page isn't better, as it has been reveiwed as a genuinely good product, and he is respected in his field.

    Do this...

Get a short promo video up there with an optin form below it. Drop the 2nd video on page 2 after an optin form.

In the promo video explain some highlights and what they get after optin (21 minute video and any other free stuff).

This will build a list of interested people for this product. This is more valuable then the sales you'll get from one sales page. In fact, it will be MUCH more valuable.

You can sell them the product on page 2. Or contact them in the future to buy the product or look at something esle.

I made this type of change a couple of years ago. Now I have huge lists for a variety of different products. It makes selling much easier.

At the end of the month you can send out a "Special Offer" email. A one day sale. It will pull in business for you from people who did not buy on the first visit.

If you did not develop the list...you would never see these sales.

    Trust me on this one...

Build the list is priority 1. Selling that product is a distant 2nd/

Thanks. This is a ClickBank product though, so I have no control over the videos. The dude does have some pretty good affiliate resources though, including tailored free reports, banners etc, so I'll use them to make a squeeze page and build a list.

    afilmarket,

In response to your comments about "having no control" (this may be a long shot, and I don't want to complicate things for you either, but worth considering, perhaps, at least in the future if not now).

If you really believe in the product but have no luck in getting the vendor to add to or change his sales page, you could perhaps get his/her permission to use various components of the original sales material and construct your own. Or build one entirely from scratch, if you're feeling particularly adventurous.

With Clickbank there is a way of constructing "buy now" links containing your hard-coded affiliate ID, to put on your own site/sales-page, that take customers directly to the Clickbank order page for a specific product, i.e. instead of a regular affiliate link sending them to the vendor's sales page. Essentially, it allows you to sell the product while bypassing the product's official sales page.

    (Hopefully this makes sense. :p)

The main drawback of this approach (apart from the additional time/effort to get up and running) is that it also bypasses the cookie-implanting process, which leaves room for some of your prospective customers to then search for the product by name through Google and buy directly through the vendor's site without your affiliate commissions being credited.

However, if you go about it right (by obscuring/omitting the name of the product on your sales page, for example, giving customers less reason to suspect it's promoted elsewhere and little chance of them finding it either way), the odds of that can be quite significantly reduced.

It's perhaps good as a last resort, anyway, but I believe officially you require the permission of the product's vendor before you can do this. So if you do entertain the idea, don't run into it without making further inquiries.

    Good luck, anyway.

Thanks for the tip! I'm sure you're right and I'm grateful for your advice! Seeing as this is the first product I'll be selling in my internet marketing adventure, I think I'll go for something a little less complicated. It's a shame, as he seems like he has a good product, but getting a reply from him seems impossible!

Yeah there's no way of capturing an e-mail address, which sucks. In terms of feedback on the product, I have read good reviews of it online, from authentic MMA magazines. It's a shame I can't get hold of the vendor, as it seems a good product.

Pages with long videos like that can be hit or miss. I would try having an opt-out option where you could read a sales page instead of the video. When I worked in an office we had to have the sound down so a video like that would have been useless for me.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the tip! Like I said above, unfortunately, I think I've decided that I'm going to have to find a new product to sell, as I can't get hold of the vendor. All this advice from WF members has been really helpful though - thanks a lot guys and gals!

Bring traffic to the website and track how well it converts. Then try to shorten the video and see which way is better.
No one can give you the right answer. It might be too long, too short, or perfect. The only way to find out is to test.

21 minutes is too long for a video. Honestly, I'd stick with 2 or 3 minutes maximum. Maybe instead of an order button right in their face, use a continue button where you could take them to a text pitch to sell them on the product.

Also, a digital picture of the product itself would be a nice touch.
