Wordpress Homepage Preview or Full?

When i publish a new post on wordpress it shows on the homepage as well as on its own specific page, it's not a preview as it actually shows the whole contents of every post on the homepage, personally i would like it to only show a preview until they click the link to it but would it not be better for SEO that your home page sticky was the full content?

It depends on how many posts you are displaying on the frontpage. If you have like 10 then yeah I would totally use excerpts otherwise it will slow down your site's load time.

If it was say 3 posts then showing the entire post is fine IMO.

I only have 3 posts on it just now but i am adding one every day so after the next one i should get excerpts? will this take the SEO value from the homepage because all the content wont be there?

It just makes it a bit trickier for Google to index posts as they arrive. That's not an issue if you're building links.

    Hi,

It's better to use excerpts regardless in order to avoid having duplicate content (IE, same content on more than one URL).

Indexing won't be an issue if you have a proper sitemap nor will SEO as Google actually likes to see change on your homepage.

You can also compromise. Instead of a short excerpt, use the more tag in your posts so that it shows a third or half of your post. That's what I do on my site.

Excerpts would be advisable to avoid duplicate content of your website.

Would anybody recommend a certain plugin for this? i have tried a few but none seem to work or they don't show the post's image.
