Pinterest EXPOSED = My Mind Just Exploded

So by now most of us know pinterest monetizes their obscene traffic with swtiching out product names with affiliate links to that product.

Now my head thinks " how is that possible to replace that many links from all that traffic"?

Well long story short i found what they are using
Skimlinks | Affiliate marketing made easy - content monetization | Skimlinks

My mind basically exploded with how this could change the game for affiliate marketing. This site allows you to automatically monetize your site using thousands of products and they dont take a % of your affiliate sale.

This is a game changer , what you think about it ?

    Your facts aren't quite correct:

Skimlinks works on a revenue share model. You don't pay anything to join or use the service; we just take a small cut from the commissions you earn. For SkimLinks and the tools, the split is 25/75 - we keep 25% and pay you the 75%.
It certainly makes sense if you have a site with a tonne of user generated content, though.

Ok i figured there would be a catch , even thou they say on their homepage "keep 100% of your affiliate commissions"

But either way game changer ?

Didn't Digital Point do something similar? Or did DP just decide to cookie stuff the H*LL out of their visitors?

BTW, Pinterest was featured in Yahoo "Upgrade Your Life" 2 days ago as a possible threat to Facebook...

The basic idea is that you can link to Amazon products without an affiliate link and their API will automatically convert the links to skim link amazon affiliate links.

Secondarily, even if the amazon link has an affiliate code already, it will still convert your links if you use the API. This is useful for affiliates like myself who needed to change entire sites over to skimlinks since Amazon dropped the affiliate program in my state.

I think pinterest already stopped their skimlink integration though.

Yep, they stop using Skimlinks, the CEO Ben Silbermann said it was just a test as they look for ways to montize the site. They may try ads next.

LOL! I was thinking the exact same thing.

I literally just stared at it for 5 minutes straight... chuckling to myself.

I figure Pinterest will be doing a lot of testing over the next few months. It's gaining momentum and not stopping anytime soon.

While Pinterest is growing fast, I don't see them ever overtaking FaceBook, b/c Pinterest is about funny and neat pictures, and FaceBook is about socializing.

I'm having fun with Pinterest but it's just the shinny new object for me, and I'm not really looking to bring in money with it. I put it up there with Twitter, which I only see a very few people ever really being able to bring in a ROI.

Have fun with it but don't get caught up in all the hype. I just don't based my words on predictions but I know more than a dozen people who went at it wholeheartedly and failed miserably with it.

Not saying someone won't make money with it, just saying it won't be a cake walk for most of us.

That's so true, I can't believe how people are saying that twitter can replace email lists, as soon as you make a tweet, it's instantly lost in hundreds of other tweets.
