Newbies: Buy Through MY Link & Get These Bonuses...

Here's one sticking up for the newbies...

It was only a matter of time before they infiltrated the WSO forum with the same old tactics that were used years ago in the selling of hyped up Clickbank products. They seem to think they are new and clever marketing tactics yet there is nothing even remotely breakthrough here. First it was the 'upsell hell', now it is the 'buy through my link and get a bonus' promotions they are pushing.

My inbox is now full of these offers every day.

I, myself, am not a fan of either -- especially not the second one.

Although bonuses might be tempting and look like something designed to 'help' you on face value, what they really do is make it even harder and less likely that a newbie will consume the original information they paid for.

It's called information overload and it's one of the BIGGEST things that prevents newbies from ever gaining any traction in this business. Don't believe me, then keep on signing up for all these bonus offers and see how far you really get. I find it quite interesting that these same guys who are trying to 'help you' are the guys trying to suffocate you with information.

Ask any Internet Marketer worth their salt and they will tell you exactly the same thing. Information overload IS your enemy. The quickest way to success is to laser focus on ONE thing and one thing only... and to not stop until you make it work. The quickest way to failure is to overload yourself with information, so much so that you lose your focus and direction.

I learnt this lesson the hard way. Years ago I was easily tempted by all these bonus offerings only to find all that stuff did was sidetrack me from my ultimate goal. So instead of adding value to my purchase it actually detracted from it.

You also need to think about it this way. If a product is really such great value then it doesn't need bonuses and hype to back it up. There is usually a very good reason why sellers need to rely on this stuff to sell and promote other people's products.

So, next time you go to click on a buy button in order to receive some bonus products, ask yourself this. Are these bonuses, or indeed even the original product you are purchasing, are they going to HELP or HINDER you ultimate goal? When you REALLY give it some honest thought, you will find yourself clicking on the buy button a lot less frequently and your business progressing a whole lot faster.

  • Good point. You really need to block out distractions and stay focused on your goal, and a bunch of offers don't help.

I think that information overload is a myth that is disguised as something else. I call it the spectator disease. Think about it most marketers people do NO REAL WORK. They buy a program and hope the program will do the work for them. They read and watch hoping to find some secret when its really (traffic + conversion = sales ) rinse and repeat and scale up. If people did 90% work vs 10% learning they would never have to worry about so called information overload.

      Will,

      "Illogical. Illogical. Aiiieeee!"

It's called competition. When a field gets as crowded as the WSO affiliate market, things start to spiral in one way or another. In the info product field, the hard costs are low, so the direction is "pack the box until it breaks at the seams."

Production costs for digital info products are nearly completely disconnected from the value they might contain. But that spiral can only go so far. Eventually, one of two things is likely to happen, or both in sequence:

1: Affiliates will add bonuses with hard value (electronics, cash rebates, or other hard goods), pushing the margins back in line with "real" products, or...

2: Vendors will see a few affiliates with big bonus offers killing the incentive for the majority of other affiliates, and limit bonus offers or forbid them entirely.

There are other things that will happen along the way. The biggest will be affiliates screwing up and ending up driving refund rates up for both vendors and the networks supporting them. That's pretty much a given. The only question is, how bad does it get before they stomp on it?

Some WSO sellers who are also affiliates could screw up in what they promise or how they fail to deliver, and end up getting banned, either by the forum or the affiliate networks, or both. That would throw a big damper on the party, fast.

There are ways to head those problems off, and they need to be addressed. The bloodlust that's developing around the WSO affiliate process is accelerating to the point that I see it as a threat to the entire system.

My personal opinion on this is the same as it's been for years: The best and surest way to protect the system for everyone involved is to forbid any and all income claims and promises, period.

Other things can help, and should probably be done, but I don't think any of them would help as much or as fast.

Definitely! It's true that most GRQ offers are just simple scams to take people's hard earned money, but there really are some honest methods sold. People would have to simply realize that reading and trying is not enough. Taking action and sticking with a given method is what's important. Oh, yes, and learning not to listen to all the latest and greatest get-a-million-overnight offers.

      Just my 2c,
