What would you do if money was no longer a problem?

Hi there, I am actually in the process of writing a sales letter for a client and need some real world insights on something I am writing about. I would like to know a few things...

If you had achieved your financial goals online, what would you do with your time?

In other words, why are you building your online business?

Is it to have more freedom and time to travel?

More time with family? Nice cars and houses?

In essence, what would you do if money was no longer a problem?

Well I just hate restrictions, not looking for Bill Gates Wealth. Just money where if I wanted to go do something I didnt have to worry about "budgeting" or working around my work schedule. Im tired of making everyone else money for a living.

My IM ventures are more so there so I can earn a residual income. Since I'm still young, I don't really need much cash at the moment, so I'd be saving. Saving for future financial/IM projects. You know, get rich?

    • I don't think there's ever a point where money isn't a problem. It's just a different kind of problem when you're wealthy. Wealth has to be managed if you want to keep it for the long term, as innumerable rock stars, athletes and actors have discovered. Shepherding your money can turn into a full-time job on its own.

Having said that, I think what you're asking is what are those things people vow they'll do once they're financially secure. It's a highly individual thing, though. My goal may not be yours. I'd like a brand-new Roadtrek RV so I could spend about half the year traveling.

The question is what wouldn't you do?

Usually people build online businesses to take care of family. Spend more time with the kids, and, wife.

You can take a look at human nature, (or sales letters), to see what peoples "hot buttons" are as far as what they want from online businesses.

I'd become a permanent student, studying things that interest me rather than things that are a stepping stone to a good job or to helping me with my own business. (So forget my MBA and my engineering degrees, I'd read philosophy or the history of art or anthropology or something interesting like that.)

Fishing seems pretty popular. Good stuff.

I would (and will) travel the world full-time until I get bored, engaging in all manner of spontaneous activities as I go. If I make it through intact (what a drag, eh? Need to try harder ), I'd perhaps find a nice spot and 'set up camp' somewhere out in the sticks, perhaps - hopefully - nestled in or near some woods between mountains and beside a lake, where I'd float around lazily on a boat, read, drink beer, fish, make things and keep a little well-trained pooch for company.

Somewhere in between I suppose I'll have to find myself a good woman or two before I'm old and frigid.

I'd be traveling and writing too. I'd build a music studio in my cozy private lakefront year-round cottage where I'd have my home base.

I actually don't have it so bad and I'm truly grateful for what I have now.But when money is no object, then there certainly is a level of freedom that there isn't when you're having to budget.

        Oooh, I like that idea.

We were looking at a house last year that came with its own 12 acre artesian lake, stocked with bluegill, bass and catfish. I wanted to put an island out in the middle -- the lake's only 8 feet deep.

I'd buy one of those sweet houses in the caribbean that have glass floors, leave the world behind and be a hermit. Probably play video games all day without someone nagging me. Live off of fish and beer til I croak. I'd leave my fortune to a kid's charity though.

Like a lot of you guys, I'd travel and write; then buy a little home in the islands somewhere. But the one thing that really would make me feel like I have a purpose in life would be to buy some empty buildings in various cities and convert them to shelters for our homeless. Especially for our vets. After serving in the Air Force I found myself homeless with a young child and would love to give back to those who helped me get back on my feet.

If money was no longer a problem, I will buy out america`s trillion dollar debt. Then ask to the president, let me get a medal at least for bailing out america.

But, outside of that ridiculous answer. I would just probably start buying a decent car. Then call all my friends and family members for dinner. After dinner, set them up with some money to see that money grow.

I would definitely help some people, the problem with helping people int eh world that the money needed to help all the poor people, starving children, homeless etc does not simply exist . This is an endless hole , and it will continue to be this way until some changes wont be made in the human perception. So, i would definitely help people i know , and i would definitely make a shelter for all the homeless cats and dogs. Also, i think a personal island would be nice :- )

Without looking at anyone else's answers, since I don't want to be influenced, here's what I would do:

I'd make sure every aspect of my business was outsourced except for the bare minimum that I have to do myself and which I enjoy. It's not as if I want to stop working. I just want to be able to focus on the parts I really love.

Then I'd do what I've always planned to do, which is to travel and live in different cities around the world. Obviously, the financial goals reached would have included paying for colleges and other stuff I want to provide for my children. My husband and I would still have a permanent home base somewhere as well.

Back to work now or none of this is going to happen!

I'd spend time on the stuff that I'm not able to do when I'm still drowned with all that work, maybe like playing the games that I wanted to finish back then, but couldn't. The games that I play are usually the fighting games, or the first person shooters, so I don't have that much time to play the RPGs. Another thing would be helping the people who really need my help. If I have all the money in the world, staying in one place would be hella boring (except when I'm gaming). I'd travel, too.
