Banner Signature Traffic Question

For those of you that have a banner in your signature how much traffic per day do you get from it? Do more people click on your banner over text links?

I don't have one yet, but I've heard it over and over again get a banner signature file.
I'm going to get one shortly.

Far too many variables come into play...

    1) What copy is in the banner
    2) How many other links do you have
    3) How strong is the call to action
    4) How long have you been tracking
    5) Does the design work
    6) Is your offer relevant
    7) Is there a need for your offer

    etc.

    This list is infinite.

The only way you will know if it's right for your business is to try it, try many different variables while tracking each one, and then you will have your answer.

    Kindest regards,
    Karl.

Maybe you're not getting any traffic because you have no sig or banner

I get anything from a few unique visitors to 10 unique visitors per day to my website and I usually make 5 posts per day or so.

Anyway, as KarlWarren said, too many factors come into play here, so you may get a completely different number if you also make 5 posts per day.

    Hope that helps!

It depends on what the banner is. Our signature banner is more of a "presence" banner.

I have to disagree wholeheartedly, I'm afraid. Not to be argumentative (which appears to be what you're doing with your "tell us something we don't already know") but to give advice.

These sorts of questions actually inhibit action...

I know most people rarely take action anyway, but, a question like this is seeking validation for something that the OP is considering doing. Same as the following questions:

    - How much money do YOU make on adsense
    - How much traffic do YOU get from ezinearticles
    - What's YOUR refund rate
    - How do YOU generate your traffic

No matter what the answers to the questions above are, they're not going to prompt any more action from the asker...

    Here's what usually happens.

"How much money do YOU make on adsense"
"$1 per month, it's no good for me"
"Oh, shame, I'll try something else"

    or...

"How much money do YOU make on adsense"
    "$1200 a month..."
"Hmmmmm, hard to believe I'll ever get there"

You don't start a business, or take action by seeking validation from others - you just get on and do it, providing the risks are minimal or calculated. And then, if you fail, you get up and dust yourself down - and work out how you can do things differently...

    - How much money did I make on adsense (and what can I do to increase it)
    - How much traffic did I get from ezinearticles (and what can I do to increase it)
    - What's MY refund rate (and what can I do to increase it)
    - How do I generate MY traffic (and what can I do to increase it)

The last one is a bad example, but the rest are specific to other people's businesses and are of no help whatsoever to anyone.

    But that's just my opinion.

Honestly, it depends on the thread I think. Some days are better than others, and because our banner is the same link as the ext link directly under it, the traffic could be coming from either.

Some days we get under 100, some days we get closer to a few hundred. We get more traffic though if the thread is relevant to our company.

But like I said, the VopaHost banner below, is more of a presence.

I do nearly always have a sig-banner showing (I've turned my sig off for this post just so nobody tells me I'm drawing attention to it by posting  ).

For me, the main thing that depends on is how recently I've changed it.

Once nearly everyone's seen it, they've seen it and you don't get nearly so many clicks.

But when it's fairly new, you can easily get 1,000 clicks per day, for the first few days.

At other times, a far smaller number, of course.

All the points made by Karl in his original reply (#3) are perfectly valid, too. (Which is why nobody can give you an answer of great help to yourself, I suspect?).

Not to mention the number of posts you have on the board, I'm sure - because your posting frequency is directly proportional to its exposure, isn't it?

Sure, there are many factors. Tell us something we don't already know. !
As others have said knowing what somebody else is doing in banners is worth jack ship and all of those variables would come into play.

What can happen with banners / just like text ads is small variations can make a big difference in the ctr and only with split testing can you really see what works.

Given that you only have a single banner here it makes any testing all that much harder. Now if we could load a dozen banners and spin / split test them that would be sweet.

But you asked for answers so here goes, do not worry about what anybody else does or says, but if you want to test one do it and like any business venture be prepared to loose your money and really for a few bucks to test out if a banner works then pretty well most people need to give it a shot.

Even testing one banner will give you little feedback, its not uncommon to test out in the tens or even hundreds, if not more banners

Many people do things like I want to promote xyz and say I am going to make millions, but then when it comes to promotion ask what is the best free method ? and that makes no sense at all.

For the record i have the banner option but rarely use it.

I've seen an increase of up to 8-10 clicks per day with my banner ad signature, especially when I make a good number of posts in the forum. So go figure.

The funny thing about that is I pay no attention to the amount of traffic our click through that I received from my signature link because if I did I would lose perspective of the reason why I reply to threads in the first place And that is to participate and contribute value to the each individual threads.

My traffic has increased since i purchased my banner signature. It's one of the best investments that you can make in your internet business in my opinion.

You will be able to get traffic from your signature but there are many factors that come into play. The more you reply to threads relevant to the link in your signature the more traffic you will get.

The quality of your copy will also play a huge factor into how many clicks you get.

Although my banner image has expired, and I have noticed the drop in the traffic. Banner signare was almost getting me double traffic than now. So it's really good to have a banner signature.

Isn't it better to have a text based signature line for SEO purposes? With a two to three line signature file, you can use words which relate to the links. That is sure to benefit your SEO and get your links indexed and counted as more relevant than simply a banner. Now as to getting regular traffic from a banner, it would probably depend on how closely targeted your banner is to the forum you are posting on.
