Need help moving keywords up in google

Hi

I have 2 posts on my blog that I am having trouble moving up the ranks in Google. The first one Garmin 1350lmt has been bouncing between 24th and 18th position for over a month. I have done a varity of backlinking including article directories, bookmarking, and BMR. This keyword was on page one back in Sept and Nov of 2011 and making money . The second keyword Garmin 1490lmt is the same story but bouncing around position 34-41 in google. Any advice.

    A couple of thoughts:

    Have you looked at whether the pages that moved back up above you have also been backlinking? You're probably working with a moving target.

    Were the blog posts new in Sept 2011? It is quite common for a page to enter the Google listings at a higher place than that at which it finally settles.

    Update the content by adding a paragraph or two, as well as maintaining or slightly increasing your backlink velocity.

    Make sure you are using a variety of anchor text, and that you have a variety of different links in your portfolio.

    Look at your competition: How many quality backlinks do they have? Less than you? Then it is likely your on-page isn't optimised as well as it should be.

    On page optimization is very important. Meta descriptions, keywords and the keyword in the titles is extremely important when trying to rank for certain keywords. I know from my own trial and error.
