Squeeze Page Business Model Question

Originally, my business model had been simple. Just use a squeeze page, Aweber and a sales page. Simple, right?

Recently, I read a thread about how you shouldn't have a single-page squeeze page site. Apparently Google doesn't like indexing squeeze pages any more?

Since I was going to drive traffic through SEO and backlinking to my squeeze page, I'm now not sure if this is the best option.

Ideally, I want something that can earn a residual income through SEO. I can't do this if I can't get my squeeze page indexed. Does this mean I need to create a blog or some on-site content or something else?

Does this mean I need a huge squeeze page with ****loads of content?

If your going to go with SEO as a traffic source then forget Squeeze Page. What you should do is build an authority site on the subject or a blog (pretty much the same thing its just how you present it)

There you can have a nice optin form in the side bar or in the header with enticing offer.

Google will not rank squeeze pages anymore, that ship has sailed long ago.

Building a residual income through SEO is a bad idea unless its a supplemental income and your ok loosing it any moment.

You are leaving your business model in google's hands and its not safe. If you do a search on this forum you will see how many have lost their ranking due to google's rule changes which could happen any time.

the best scenario here is you get your site ranking fast for high search term and build a list fast so you dont have to rely on your seo traffic any more.

    hey harvey

i dont ever just market my squeeze page

the way i build my list is i send all traffic to my personal blog and try and brand myself that way and then funnel traffic from my personal blog to seperate squeeze page

i also have an opt in form on my blog to increase sign ups from having a seperate squeeze page does convert much better

i still drive traffic direct to the seperate squeeze page if im using paid advertisement because it converts much better like that

but with free traffic your much better off sending everyone to some kind of a personal blog first. you will find your blog acts as a preselling tool and when people get on your list from your blog you will find they are more responsive than if you just sent them to a squeeze page first

paid traffic campaigns you must alwways use a seperte squeeze page though

its easy dont over complicate it

firstly you must include an opt in form in your side bar and or below your posts (this will help to build your list faster and its a no brainer)

to send traffic to a seperate squeeze page include some text links within some of your posts that you write

include a link in your header nav bar saying "free report" or "free video course"

    something that attracts attention

people will often click on it

just link your nav bar links directly to your seperate squeeze page

easy but it works and is effective :-)

Thanks paul and Elmar, appreciate your help. So my search engine traffic goes to my blog/authority and then a percentage of that goes to my squeeze page, yes?

This means you'll need to concentrate on the non-seo methods of driving traffic. Google isn't the all-in-all. Otherwise, you'll need to create lots of content to rank, and then direct your readers to below-post opt-in forms.

    Hi Harvey,

I agree with what they said about creating blogs. But here are more details:

    1. Try multi-part posts about a certain topic related to your niche.

    2. Have you done videos for content? They convert pretty well.

    3. At the end of each post, put the link to your opt-in page. Make it like: If you enjoyed this post, you'll definitely make a killing selling wall moss which you'll learn from my free report. Click here to download it now.

    4. Monitor the analytics over time. Focus link building on the pages that converts the best/gets the most traffic.

    5. Make a followup post on the article that makes the most traffic.

    Hope this helps!

    All the best,
    Craig

If you're trying to build an email marketing list it is MUCH better to work with squeeze pages that are all about enticing the visitor to optin. A blog will not do that. And a blog will take MUCH more time to maintain.

You can do SEO with squeeze pages. I'm on page 1 for several highly competitive terms. And I got there with "Anchor text" links that match the title, description, and keywords of my squeeze page.

If you find it necessary to add more content just create a new page and drop a link at the bottom of the squeeze page next to "Privacy Policy".

Stick with the squeeze page and promote it.

BTW, I also use google PPC with squeeze pages. I do run into a problem from time to time here. They will suspend an ad(many times for no reason). Just make it clear what you are offering and what you will do with the email(such as sending newsletter). Explain this in your privacy policy.

I still use just a squeeze page but I tie that domain to a blog and other pages also.

I have not ran into any problems. However, I do not depend solely on Google to get traffic, either. The fact that I'm on page one position 1-5 for over 57 keywords is just a bonus for the traffic I get from the other free sources, mainly article syndication and you tube videos.

But my main squeeze page is what has most of the backlinks and where I refer everyone.

Then, once they sign up, I send them to my other pages and tell them to BOOKMARK THIS PAGE at the very beginning. Then you can update that page with valuable information often.

Like I said, it is working for me without any issues.

SEO - it is time consuming and difficult unless you know what you are doing and depending on how much competition your niche has, could be all for naught anyway unless you are an expert. But even if you get page one, position one, you are not guaranteed high conversion traffic, again depending on your keyword. Is it a "buyers" keyword or a "lookers" keyword.

Paid Traffic - this can cost a lot of money and not get any results unless you really know what you are doing. More people especially newbies at paid traffic, lose more money than they make IF they make any money at all.

But there are other methods that get direct targeted traffic that are free and DO NOT rely on search engines.

Posting on appropriate forums with your sig.
      Article syndication done effectively.
      Guest blogging.
      You Tube videos.
      Press releases.
      etc. etc. etc.

If I get an article syndicated at it gets on a newletter of some group that has thousands of people on the list, I get all that exposure and all I did was write an article. And this can happen many times for the same article!!!

The same with a press release if it gets picked up by a major site.

This is what I am focused on! I have been working on internet marketing and have yet to make my first sale.
I spent plenty of time trying to rank websites and not getting much results.
I have given up on trying to impress google and I am compleltly focused on FREE
        Traffic without Google.
So, I started with you tube videos and made a few videos and they are lost in the huge vast of videos online. It is so frustrating.
I have started contacting other blog owners to help them with there blogs and I got my first denial yesterday.

        Any suggestions?

Hey, If any of you need a video made or article written or anything else I could do for you I would love to help. I just would ask to maybe have a small link back to my squeeze page. Thanks!

The key is not to rank your squeeze page, but to rank the pages pointing to your squeeze page.

It's a bit like when I had a Clickbank site. Sure, your sales page might actually rank for a few terms but it is never going to conquer a competitive keyword.

But I built numerous sub-pages that did rank.

I do the same for my list now. My squeeze page is at the root level but I also have a Wordpress blog at the "/blog" level. Every single article has a resource box pointing to my squeeze page.

Sure, you shouldn't rely on Google. But if you have multiple sites then it's unlikely that they will ever all get slapped.

Plus once your list is big, there are plenty of other ways to boost the size such as ad swaps, reinvesting profits into solo ads etc.

Grunt work comes at the beginning but the list becomes self-sustaining after that so long as you don't need the income immediately to feed yourself and can reinvest it.
This is pretty much the way I do it.

And you are right, the list does become self sustaining and even getting new list members gets pretty systematic after a while.
