What you use might depend on your site and target audience?

Article marketing can bring some quick traffic but SEO for high search rankings is very effective when done correctly, social media can also work well for the right sites.

This is basically the most difficult task you'll face. In doing this, you should decide first how you will attract traffic towards your affiliate website. You can go for paid advertising with soloads or banner ads or you can spend time creating authority sites that are content rich and with affiliate advertising placed within them. It is good if you can use both strategies.

As you already got some good responses here , i would suggest to not forget the content on the site. You can bring all the traffic you want but the site itself needs to provide some valuable content, make an interest , and of course have the people stay at your site for longer then 10 seconds.

Social Networs are good places to get quantity and quality traffic for free, mainly YouTube, FaceBook and Twitter. Make friends, attract followers and use videos to reach potential customers with your messages.

The question is very broad, and can't be answered briefly. There are so many traffic
methods you can use. If you don't want to spend money you have to spend your
time. Here are some simple and free methods:

    Social media (Facebook, Twitter)
    Video Marketing
    Yahoo answers
    Blog commenting
    Blog guest posts

A lot of the more general ideas have already been mentioned so I'll give some of the more creative ways.

Answering questions on LinkedIn, Yahoo answers or Quora
Submitting yourself to directories (more for SEO, but still a good idea)
    Email signature
    Press releases
    Hold a Contest
    Host a webinar

    Hope those helped!

Here are some of my suggestions:

-Maximize the presence of social media, create a fan page or twitter account about your website. Get more fans and followers and find ways how to convert them into visitors like adding links and photos directed to your website.

    - Create a blog section and create more content.
-Use good keywords in making an article use Google Keyword tool to search for competitive keywords.
    - Submit your articles or share it online.

I agree with Michael here. If you're looking for free organic traffic, Google now wants to see some value for it's searchers on your website. If all they do is send traffic to one page sales sites, people will use another search engine. Great content and backlinks. It takes work but it will be worth it.

On-Page SEO (title tag, description, meta tags, copyright notice, etc.)

Off-Page SEO (linkwheels, article marketing, web2.0 proprties, bookmarking, backlinking)

    I think that works..

best to do is to go to the high traffic forums or blogs in your niche and see if you can comment or syndicate an article there.

Remember getting good traffic you just do the normal things, if you want bandwith busting traffic you have to get out of your comfort zone and JV with others, and hang out in high traffic areas where your most likely customers are likely to hang out. Then put your message infront of them. Do this, and you will get all the traffic you need.

These ideas could be productive if used right. The more efforts you put in, the better the results:

    1. Use social media - There's no fixed method for using social media like facebook. But depending on your niche, you can really use FB to your advantage.

    2. Article marketing - Write and submit 500 word articles to good article directories like Do this at least once a day. Include links to your website in the author bio.

    3. Submit articles to web 2.0 sites like squidoo, blogger, wordpress. Here you can include links in the article itself. Avoid being too self-promotional in your articles. That's the key.

    4. Use videos. Create simple easy videos and then upload them to sites like youtube. You can also use anchor text in your description. So you get backlinks as well as a direct method to build traffic to your site.

    5. Directory submission

    6. Press release - another great ammunition

    7. Blogging - Set up a blog on your site and publish content relevant to your niche on a regular basis.

    8. Blog/ Forum commenting

Hope these ideas would be of help. At the core of any internet marketing strategy is the use of high quality content. So if you can't write good quality content, then its wise to choose a good content or article writing service to do the writing on your behalf. This also saves time and ensures you get high quality content for your campaigns.

Well if you aren't willing to spend much money, that means that you need to do most of the work yourself.

Most of the work in my business model (and most passive income-based models) seems to be 1) writing content and 2) link building.

So, if you are willing to write lots of content, and build links, then you don't really need much money. Just enough to pay for a website and hosting, really. Or even use a free blog if you are incredibly broke.
