The Importance of Targeted Traffic

Once you have a site up that converts, it is super important to get targeted traffic and not just any old traffic. (This also pre-supposes that you did appropriate and effective niche/keyword research so that you have a profitable niche and that it is a market that you can reach.)

It may take a bit of time for you to find out the exact combination of things for your niche to do so, but that time is well worth it.

I was thinking about that again this morning when I looked at a new niche I had gone into and had gotten some consistent traffic that converts to sign ups and then converts to email opens and finally converts to sales. After that, it is just a numbers game.

Now, I back track back to get how much I want to make in this particular niche and figure exactly how much traffic I will need assuming all the conversion percentages stay the same and voila, just do that much more of what I was already doing to increase the targeted traffic to get those results.

The thing is, if I didn't have targeted traffic, then I would have no way of knowing what was converting and if it would convert consistently and thus be able to scale it up like that to achieve the desired result.

  • I agree with the point that we will need to drive enough flow of traffic back to the website before we will be able to know the conversion of the landing page or the sales page. But I think it will be worth the investment of time and money to keep testing till we get the desired conversion.

    As once we got the desired conversion, we will just need to scale it up from there

    • Yes, Zack, that is exactly what I'm saying. Find out what is converting with some targeted traffic so that once you know, then you can scale it up.

      I think a lot of people just go after any old traffic and then if they happen to get sales, they have no idea from where and thus can't scale it up.
  • If you're not making money in IM, you either don't have enough traffic, or you don't have the right traffic.

    Targeted traffic is the key for sure. When you have people visiting your site that already want to buy what you are offering, the sales tend to take care of themselves.

    My favourite method is using Google Serps.

    • Due to the other methods above, I have pretty good search engine ranking (serp) too.

      But because of the fact that they can change anything, any time, I highly suggest that no one rely only on that.
