Seeking advice on momentum

Hello friends,

I just launched a brand-spankin-new website. My plan is quite conventional:

1. Launch the site - done
2. Drive traffic - in process
3. Offer something of value for free - in process
4. build a list
5. start promoting related products
6. make more than $4000/month in a year
7. settle in Tokyo/Seoul

I'm done with step 1, and would really appreciate some advice on step 2. Since this is a totally new site I was wondering what the best way is to drive traffic to it? I need to get some momentum going.

Also, this is a one-page site that just talks about the free ebook I'm giving away, with very little content on the site itself. I wanted to know what kind of sites are more effective in compelling people to sign up. Is it a 1-page site with a free gift, or a more informative site with relevant content.

I guess what I'm asking is should I give more meat to the site by adding more pages or would that not be worth the time and effort? My main goal is to generate some momentum and ride on that until I get a decent enough number of sign ups.

Any advice from WF's seasoned veterans would be hugely appreciated. Thanks and I hope I'm asking the right questions.

It depends on your traffic sources. If you want organic traffic, go with minisite, or if you want paid traffic, go with salespage (this doesn't counts for AdWords).

You should set up an action plan to do everyday. Find some internet forums that are suited to the niche your site is in and post at least 10 times a day. Try to also start some interesting threads. Make sure your post are well thought out and not just "Great post!".

Then you can start finding some highly viewed blogs in your niche and leave 10 comments a day on different blogs with link leading back to your site. Again make sure your posts draw people in wanting to know more about you and your site.

I would also create a squidoo lens about your site and also post a few articles to sites like ezine with a link leading back to your site. Many people are convinced that article marketing is dead, but I think every little bit counts when your trying to build your success.

You can also use sites like PR.com to write a press release about the recent launch of your site. They can send this out to hundred of popular sites and can really amp up your traffic. Good luck and dont stop taking action! Your doing great.

What will your product price be listed at to make that $4k/year?

      He actually said:

"6. make more than $4000/month in a year"

Meaning that within the next 12 months, he wants to be making $4,000 per month.

        Thanks for your input guys.

Randall Magwood, good question. I've been looking at a few and I'd say something in the $30 to $40 range. And as JoeMack pointed out, that figure is per month.

Thank you chris1093 for the solid action plan. The hardest part will be finding forums that allow live links from the start. Most require 20 to 30 posts before allowing you to do that. I'm getting there...

Thank you Greg Wildermuth and TopKat22. You guys are awesome!
