Hi,

I wanted to let everybody know what I am doing with my site and check I am doing the correct thing, and are on the right track.

1. I have registered the site on google
2. I have register with lots of directory and tried to leave links behind (website url)
3. I been trying to set my key words correctly
4. I been examining with alexa the competition and trying to create links on as many websites that are listed as backlinks in alexa, so far I have evaluated top 20 results and tried to put post or my website address on as many sites as possible, some are directories or local pages of interest or photographic specific sites.
5. Setup a facebook page and tried to get my likes up
6. registered with google plus.
7. Setup a Blog on my site and tried to link it to a couple of the blogging sites
8. I also purchased the .co.uk ste and pointed that at the .biz site
So far I had zero backlinks showing in Alexa, I guess this is just a slow process only been doing it for two weeks.

I don't want to spend much on advertising if I can help it as funds are restricted.

can you let me know if I am on the right track or what else I need to do

Thanks for all your help and support - Andy

Seems like you're definitely on the right track so far. If you're attempting to do some organic ranking with SEO (opposed to paid advertising) I'd start focusing on building some more diverse links pointing to your site using your keywords.

Blog comments, article directories, Blog networks, forum posts and profiles, video sites....just make it look natural and consistent.

I second this, and add guest blog posts.

You haven't actually said that you created any content. All this offsite SEO is a waste of time if you don't create content, and good content at that. Watch your bounce rate to know whether your content is good enough.

        Hi creativesnaps,

With your kind of business, most potential online customers are going to come via a local search - something like "Wedding Photography, Swindon", for example.

You need to make sure that your keywords reflect that. And, if you haven't already done so, you should look at signing up with Google Places:

        https://accounts.google.com/ServiceL...Fservice%3Dlbc

I'd also be inclined to use the .co.uk URL rather than the .biz as it might give you a better showing in the UK results.

If you are going down the SEO route than these tools might help

    Xrumer
    Senuke

If you want another route than take a closer look at Alexa Smith with article syndication...

    Hi jamesrich1

I just looked at couple and can see most you have to pay for, what programs offer most effect or best value for money v results ?

I'm no seo guy but the experts refer to Senuke as the best. There is no such thing as free traffic. You pay through your time to manual power traffic or pay for software to help you gain rankings to get SEO power or pay for traffic through ppc or media buys.

Frank Donavon is exactly right. It is the first thing I do and will get you to the top of the searches within a few weeks (depending upon the competition). Another method would be to purchase a domain such as weddingphotographyswindown.co.uk. This will rank very quickly and for a reasonably low competition search should get you to the top of that particular search very quickly. Using these two methods should get you some good hits (as long as the traffic is there) within a month or so.

    Hi,

Thanks for all your comments, I never expected to get so many great ideas.

I have signed up to Google places and had my first phone call today off the back of it

If I take another domain ie "weddingphotographyswindown.co.uk" can i just point that to my site as redirection or do i need to build the content around this new site

What extra content should I create ?

Unfortunately a little bit of extra content I would say. Take a look at the artical below can explain it better than I ever could.

No you will not getting any penalty from Google for just pointing them to your domain.

Start refreshing your website by adding more content constantly to increase your reputation and getting more reward by Google.
