How do you guys find the best affiliate products to promote for yourself?

Say you already know what your blog's focus and niche is all about. You are ready to promote some products on your blog. However, you don't really have the time or money to test and review real products before you actually promote them.

What then would you guys do? Where do you find the best products then for yourself?

Think about what you just said... You want someone else to try a product your recommending but your not willing to try it yourself. Once you have the money buy the product to make sure its top quality. If its not refund it and keep searching until you find a product that blows you away. You will be able to truly stand behind that product and not be the guy blindly promoting potential crap.

True that. I was just asking in the context where you just want to test things out right away.

Ask for a review copy and explain that you will do some heavy promoting if the product is up to par. I could never recommend a product if I did not own a copy for myself. That is just me.

Yes, if you have bought the product, or review it that should be enough.

I also study the sales copy, if it is weak I move on. The sales copy is going to one of the major deciders for one of your list members or traffic to buy. If the sales copy stinks, or has an optin form do not use it in your promotions.

The best way to do this is to try if for yourself! That way, you won't be pointing fingers to anyone who said it works when it did not.

For most of my sites I choose products that I personally have bought, used, and fell in love with and for the others I've taken recommendations from friends of products that they can't live without.

Getting a review copy will help you a lot. Also if you have the money buy it and try it for yourself. But if you also believe the network you want to work with is trustworthy, then why not give it a shot without actually buying it.

For many reasons, the two biggest ones perhaps being ...

      (i) The trustworthiness of the "network" has very little (often nothing at all) to do with the quality of an individual product; and ...

(ii) By promoting a product to your subscribers/readers, you're attaching your own reputation and credibility to it, and that's the most valuable asset your business has (trust is slowly accumulated and swiftly destroyed: one bad recommendation and they won't trust you again, and much of the work you've done developing your business and building up your subscriber base will be wasted).
