I want to offer the first affiliate product on my website.

It's still kind of young so not much visitors, and this is where an interview would be a good idea.

I just want to do a simple 5 questions, which I think are important. I'm thinking in the future when I e-mail my list, it's going to be better asking them to check out an interview, rather than a written review.

Just looking for some thoughts really, though I'll probably go with the interview unless someone says it's a terrible idea.

Don't wanna e-mail someone asking for their time if I won't use it.

Nah, just e-mail them 5 questions.

I'll then write a post, with my questions and their answers.

Have an introduction, and a call to action at the end with my affiliate link.

I like either or. The questions serve as a quick version interview. I would personally like a full interview if I was interested in your sub niche.

You can record a skype call for a little added value.

I'd definitely try to get a real interview - via Skype is a great idea.

You'd be surprised at how willing to do an interview even some of the bigger names may be, as long as you make the right approach.

I think the value that will come from the connection of a real interview will far outweigh the value of a written blog post.
