    Hi,

I do believe it is but its not very good because it has banners etc in the emails it sends for you..

If you are here for the long haul and want to be a success with a good sized list then you really should go for aweber..its $1 for the first month..

    Good luck!!

    I agree with bobby.

If you're serious about MMO/IM then you are starting a business and, like it or not, businesses have expenses and require a certain amount of investment.

I'd say start with listwire to get a feel of the whole autoresponder thing. It's free but the only downside is that they'll include a small ad in every email you send it.

However if you have the funds, it is always best to go with the paid autoresponders. They'll make you look like a professional and you'll look serious with your offers.

Just to clarify... this is the same type of ad included by iContact, InfusionSoft, and several other big players in the paid autoresponder space. It's not an ad for an outside product, it's a link back to the List Wire service.

most of them have a trial too. I like awerber myself they give 30 days for a buck listwire is cool because unlimited subscribers but literally if you are doing things right you're autorestponder should pay for itself all your tools should be paying for themselves

I'd just use a free one to 'test the waters' and get a feel for how they work.

Once you understand them, I'd move to a paid one ASAP. I like Aweber.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[5824659].message }}
    • Profile picture of the author jvjoe
Getresponse gives you 30 days to test the water then after that you pay $15 per month pending on the List size you want.

Aweber charger you $1 for the first month thereafter you pay $19 per month also pending on the size of list you want.

This are the two I know best.

If you really want to take your online biz serious, your best bet is go for a paid and trusted auto-responder rather than cheap or FREE ones that can you to loose lots of clients (subscibers) from unwanted banners that are annoying to them.

Apparently Alexa is now allowed to use lists of back-threads, but I'm not... this is looking about as fair and balanced as Fox News.

If you want some real information about List Wire, please see these posts... I think they'll give you an INFORMED decision, based on actual facts, rather than the ramblings of people who haven't even used the service...

The problem with listwire is that, it is difficult to maintain your contact list because of daily emails sent by the admin. People just don't want daily emails and I myself opted out after having half of my contact unsubscribed in a short period of time.

I hate receiving daily emails and I think this is also the reason why half of my contacts opted out....

Its sad to see my list going away without my doing...

      This makes no sense...

YOU got emails from us because YOU were an account holder. Your subscribers got ZERO emails from us...

I've said this before, and I'll say it again... we're in the email marketing business, and honestly, if you can't accept us sending you 2 emails a day in exchange for using our service, you're probably not cut out to be an email marketer.

It would literally take you all of 2 seconds or less to delete those emails if you didn't want them, or all of 1 minute of your time per month... and in exchange, you're saving $240 a year over the lowest level account at any of the decent paid autoresponders out there.

If 12 minutes of your time per year isn't worth $240 to you, you probably have enough to pay for an autoresponder... you're making $20 a minute at that point.

I just can't help but laugh about people who complain about getting advertisements from a free service... it's the basis of email marketing. You offer something of value for free (in this case, autoresponder service) in exchange for being able to make some offers to the subscriber ( in this case, our users ). It's email marketing 101...

Listwire is indeed free but there is a different type of 'cost' attached to it - the cost of losing subscribers which can be balanced out if you send exceptional content to them. Then there are daily emails that come from Listwire....

You really get what you pay for and like someone suggested above try it out and then move if needed. If you're happy with Listwire and it serves the purpose, stick with it :-).

      This is 100% untrue...

ListWire does not send ANY emails, of ANY kind, to ANY of your subscribers, for ANY reason, period...

We send emails to our own clients, but NEVER to anyone on your lists. This topic has been covered at length here on the forum many times over.

I can't put it more bluntly than, we DO NOT EVER SEND ANY EMAIL TO ANY OF YOUR SUBSCRIBERS EVER!!!!!!

      How was that?

This is not true at all...

Again, if anyone would bother reading, there are NO advertisements sent to your list... NONE!

There never were any sent to your list, there never will be any sent to your list, and there was never even a thought of sending any ads to your list.

YOUR list is just that... YOUR list.

We send a daily email, or two, to our members only. That's it.

If receiving an ad, via email, is going to offend you... you probably aren't going to make a good email marketer.

Imagine that. I'm giving away something for free, and advertising to the emails I collect in the process. That's email marketing 101 folks...

And if I do say so myself, I think List Wire is the best damn freebie ever offered.

If saving $240 a year, at minimum, isn't worth getting an email or two a day from us... you're more than welcome to pay for autoresponder service elsewhere.

When I was first getting started I tried a few ones.

Listwire was the first one I actually signed upto, but at this point I was just creating content so I wasn't getting subscribers I just wanted to familiarise myself with the Autoresponder and get everything ready to go for when I finished my content .. they closed my account after a while .. this is the problem with completely free services .. you're not entitled to the service because you're not paying for it I guess.

I then tried MailChimp and Madmimi .. MailChimp had a higher number of subscribers allowed on the free account but it limited the emails you could send per month .. Madmimi has amazing support and great pricing.

I wanted something that had more options and was just easier to set up so I tried the Aweber $1 trial and never looked back ... if you're new to setting up autoresponders you'll prefer it since you have a setup wizard which is really easy to follow.

Because of inactivity... if you get no subscribers, no clicks, no logins, and no activity of any kind for 90 days, we close the account after first sending 3 warning emails.

We do this so that people don't sign up using a decent username, and just sit on it forever. It's free forever, and won't be closed as long as SOMETHING at all happened in the past 90 days. Just one login, one subscriber, one email being sent, one link click, one of anything...

If you haven't had at least ONE action, of any kind, including even a login to your own account in over 3 months... we have to assume you've abandoned the service.

As explained in the other reply... if you get no activity to your account for 90 days, meaning not ONE single action of any kind. No clicks, no emails sent, no logins, no subscribers, no forms being shown, and none of about 20 other activities... we have to assume that after 3 months of inactivity, you've abandoned the account.

And we send three warning emails before doing so...

Listwire doesn't send ads to your subscribers! And the good thing about it, the emails actually arrive on inbox.

The only cons about Listwire is the visually ugly optin form (sorry, Gary! ) But what the heck, people are willing to give me their name and email address through that. So it doesn't matter.

If Listwire ever sends email ads, it's to the Listwire users/accounts owner, not subscribers. Consider this how Listwire makes money so it can be free forever

I like listwire as a free alternative to aweber and getresponse etc...it works just as well apart from the following negatives:

    1. after a prospect fills in form they then go to a list wire page asking to be included in their mailing list. The prospect clicks yes or no then goes to your thank you page

    2. once your prospect receives email they will click to confirm as will aweber, however they will be taken to an affiliate offer first and then will have to click no to the offer to be referred to your confirmation page.

    3. you get a crazy amount of spam from the guy who owns listwite...i mean like 5-10 emails a day

i like it and have used it myself in the past but have now decided not to use it simply because of all the extra clicking and spam offers your prospect has to endure before they even confirm themselves as your prospect. In my experience you may lose potential prospects because they will be scared off.

    I hope this helps.

lets not forget that Gary floods your inbox with make money offers...list wire is basically a catalyst for "selling the dream". the type of people that use list wire are usually newbies (more vulnerable to biz op marketing) and list wire operational costs are justified by this marketing thats why its free...

I only recently started using Listwire so I do not have too much to say about their long term use. But I must say that I do like the simplicity of the way you go about setting up your email respond campaign. It was very nice to start using! Eariler this year I cancelled an autoresponder that was costing me just under $20 per month. I found using it to be much more confusing than Listwire. I do not expect that having them send me emails to be a big problem. I know how to delete an email! ...... and heck, maybe something Gary sends me will end up being helpful for my business!!!

I personally used listwire in the very start. I just wanted to check out my email campaign/open-rates etc. before paying to Aweber.

and if you ask me, I made $124 too with listwire.

If you want to try/check email marketing then you can use listwire. But, if you are serious about building a true business then you should go with paid autoresponder.

The thing which I loved the most about listwire is, my every email landed in the inbox. So, I personally feel, if the autoresponder is free, and if emails are landing in inbox too, then it's a very great thing.

But again, for building a true business, go with paid autoresponder.

      Very little...

We're a free service, and we can't afford to staff a support center.

That said, there are many clients who have created user guides, tutorial videos, and who constantly man the support forums and reply to your individual questions...

We offer the service, and it works as advertised. If there's a problem, 99.99% of the time it's a user not reading the instructions, or installing something wrong. The simple fact is, most problems are what those in the tech world term an ID. 10t.

That means, in a nicer way of saying it... user error.

In the .01% of the time that there's an actual problem, we're notified via text message via our automated systems and get things back in working order as fast as humanly possible.

On that... we've actually had less system downtime than the 3 most recommended services on the forum over the past few years. No service is perfect, downtime happens, but we're on par with any paid service on the market...

      -Gary Ambrose

P.S. We're currently serving well over 100,000 autoresponders, with millions of emails going out daily. We're not new, and I've been on this forum longer than 99.9% of the members here... I'm not new either.

The service works, it's everything I promised from day one... and it's going to stay that way.

Currently using listwire and admit that most of us at a certain point would want to figure out or experience something for free... so far, so good. (Although I agree on the opt in comment a little) So I guess we should give the man a break. If you want to use it, thank the man behind it. If not, then you have the freedom of choice.

Unfortunately not. Because you won't be able to import your list that way, without a re-confirmation, and can easily lose most of them in the process. This is one of the many reasons for not starting with a free autoresponder.

These threads may help you, Neralu: at the moment, you're re-circulating some very bad advice indeed, which commonly causes people big problems ...

You can only mail to new subscribers through listwire. Will not let you upload you list to them and mail.

Listwire is totall free, and they allows you to have unlimited subscribers as well. This is absolutely perfect for people who are getting started with list building and with no budget.

Free autoresponder? Maybe if you are short on budget but you better off using something like get respone or aweber.

      Exactly...

This is for the BILLIONS of people on the planet who can't afford to spend anything right now... but who still want to better their lives.

I'm not going to post the stories again, but I'll just say this...

We've had people from several 3rd world countries make more in a week using our service than they had previously been making in a year...

That wouldn't have been possible because they either didn't have a credit card, or couldn't afford the system otherwise.

For literally BILLIONS of people, $20 a month is more than they spend on food to feed their families.

For tens of millions in the U.S. alone, $20 a month is the difference between their kids eating breakfast before school in the morning, or going hungry...

And for the average person, it takes at least 6 months or more to see a profit in IM. That's at least $120 down the drain that many can't afford... and even more, for millions of people, that $20 saved allows them to setup a campaign they otherwise never would have been able to create.

How long did it take you to earn a profit? how many stories do we see on this forum about people struggling for years without ever earning a cent? That $20 a month for 3 or 4 years can add up to $1,000 down the drain!

Is it for everyone? Hell no...

That's not who it's designed for.

This is for people starting out, on a budget, who want a service that offers more than enough to turn a real profit before making the decision whether or not they want to move on to something more advanced...

Poor Gary - having to come back a year and a half later to re-iterate your answers...

    To sum it up folks:

    1.) ListWire is free
    2.) ListWire allows unlimited subscribers
3.) ListWire DOES NOT send email to your subscribers
4.) ListWire will send you an email each day (businesses have to make money)
5.) ListWire allows you to export subscribers
6.) ListWire is double opt-in only (last I checked - I didn't see this mentioned above)

Folks - read the thread and stop making Gary answer the same questions over and over and over...

Even though I don't use ListWire I want to thank Gary for creating a service like this. I have had students use it with moderate success.

    Cheers,
    Coby
