What is an acceptable EPC?

Everyone,

I'm curious as to your take on what an acceptable EPC # is for an offer you are thinking about promoting?

Where do you draw the line?

Thanks,

Dustin

What someone else's EPC does not translate to what your own is. If they are saying that they have a $3.00 epc it might translate to a $.50 cent epc for you or maybe higher than $3.00. The only way you will find out what your epc will be is to test and track. Keep tweaking until you get your conversion higher.

      Thanks James.

I understand what you're saying, but perhaps I should be more specific.

When you're looking at an affiliates offer list, it will show you EPC, and CR numbers etc. When you look at the AN's EPC #'s is there a threshold that you decide is too low to even warrant test campaigns?

      Thanks,

      Dustin

    Hey Dustin,

A lot of the time it will depend on the size of the list I'll be promoting. If it's a smaller list I'll look for a higher EPC, but in general anything over $1.00 is the minimum cut-off, especially if it's something laser-targeted to the list in question.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks Paul, that helps. I find that most AN's don't share the sample size with you - just EPC and CR #'s. So I tend to be skeptical when I see CR's like 20% and 15% even.

      Appreciate your take.

An acceptable one is higher than my cost per click (after allowing for time spent, opportunity-cost, and so on, if relevant). An unacceptable one is lower.

At about the level of my cost per click, or a fraction above it.

But I would never assume that someone else's EPC is going to be relevant to mine (any more than another affiliate's refund-rate for a ClickBank product, or an "average one for that product" is going to have anything to do with mine).
