Problems with Office 2007 Email--Any Help?

Good Valentine Day morning fellow Warriors! I've set up a few new websites and I need to set up my emails for each account. I've plugged everything into my Office Outlook 2007 email but every time I try to send an email from there it gets stuck in preparing to send/receive. I've googled this problem and really haven't found a solution.

Is there any other application that I can set up to run my website emails through? If so, can you point me to them? I hate to use my generic gmail and yahoo accounts to send out correspondence on my cutomized websites.

Any warrior guidance would be greatly appreciated. I have a lot of work to try to get done today and unfortunately this is holding me up

Well most times your outgoing smtp server is incorrect.
You can test that if you edit your pop account and click something like "test account settings". Please tell me if that's working or not.

Actually, when I do the test it gives me the following error:

"Send test email message: The operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server provider or Internet service provider (ISP)"

So.....now what do I do? Thanks Dennis!

    Try this:

Go to Tools--> Accounts--> select the email address and click 'properties'. Click on the 'servers' tab, and make sure "My server requires authentication" is checked. In the settings of that, select 'use same settings as my incoming mail server'.

Also, set the Incoming Mail and Outgoing mail to mail.yourdomainname.com and see if that works.

In some cases, when the email is being sent through your ISP instead of your hosting server, you need to change the port to 2525. Cox cable blocks port 25 here in Florida so that may also be the case with your ISP.

My ISP is Verizon. I'm running Vista and the program is Outlook 2007.

Surely it's just something that isn't toggled on or something. I'm about to pull my hair out !

Outlook may not be able to do this. Get a copy of Thunderbird (it's from Mozilla) and see if that works.

Try using port 26 for outgoing, and port 110 for incoming.

In this situation, you have two choices:

      1. Use the outgoing (SMTP) mail server of your ISP - the company that provides your Internet connection.

      2. Use the outgoing (SMTP) mail server that your host provides are part of your web hosting package.

When you've chosen which you wish to use, contact their support department and ask for the correct settings.

That gets you out of the guessing game.

      Cheers,

Ok guys. Thanks for all the suggestions. I took a few hours away from the computer to keep my sanity and I'll try all of these solutions, one at a time.

    Be back with an update.

    Thanks again for the suggestions!

    Gene

Tried that, it tells me that it can't connect to my outgoing mail server. I'm going to try Floyd's suggestion and download Thunderbird and see how that works.

You may want to start from scratch -- go into your cpanel where you created the email address, and use the option to install it in outlook automatically.
