Locking Domaine Name ?

In the management panel of one of my domaine name suppliers it says

LOCK
it as it says Locks the domaine and suggests that this prevents transfer of the domaine name BUT it also says that some admin functions are then not available.

Im not sure what the value of LOCK or not is so I would appreciate advice from the more knowledgable here

Locking a domain name is simply a safety measure to prevent someone from trying to steal your domain by attempting transferring it out. You should ALWAYS lock your domain names. Don't worry about "some admin functions are then not available". That just means that if there is an admin function that can't work while the domain is locked, you simply unlock the domain to use that function then lock it up again when you're done.

I lock all of my domains too. I have never needed to unlock a domain for any reason but transferring it to another person.

Better to be safe than sorry so lock them up.
