Go through the affiliate programs in affiliatescout.com. Loads of ideas there.

If you're using the ebay affiliate program then you can get ideas from hot trends or by doing an advanced search.

Also look at the sites for sale at places like Sitepoint, you can get ideas and even a mini business plan from some of the listings.

You don't really need to do anything original. Just do it better.

You can start an affiliate or mini site in any niche so long as you have a good marketing plan.

I browse transparent affiliate networks like clickbank and commission junction for high converting offers.

I look at keyword's, traffic estimates and build around markets that can support the site with good traffic. Traffic is key with anything online and finding great sounding niches will little to no keywords or traffic is a tough way to start a site.

Well, in my opinion the best thing to do is to browse the clickbank, com junction and other affiliate programs available. I guess that's the starting point for you to get an idea for your mini site.

If my brief explaination isn't clear enough, please do not hesitate to PM me. I'll be more than happy to share my knowledge and experiences. Good Luck.

I actually think of an idea for a product that I know people would want, and then let all the magic happen in Photoshop with all the designing stuff that goes on. Basically if I don't have a product I like, then I won't have any fun designing the mini-site or sales page or any website for that matter.

However, since I am a beginner Internet Marketer, I should do more research on product that I think people want. The above comments are a few great ways to get product ideas.

Then I'd need to find a high converting product on clickbank that I could create or make a cool affiliate page for it. Again all resolves around the design for me

For the past 4 weeks... the 5 mini sites that I did all came from my TweetStream on Twitter..

Every time I see a topic explode on trends.. I throw up a mini site and blog...

Working wonders, saves me looking anywhere else for ideas.... and I get to increase my income..

    Pre-Twitter, I would always start at Amazon.com

    Top 100 bestsellers, Non-Fiction

    Peace

      Hey Jay,

Great tips here. Can you expand on how you use your TweetStream to identify niche site opportunities?

      Let me know,

      Matt

I go for a walk out in the real world (ie not in my office!) and clear my head....then....

Amazon, Ebay, comm junction and Clickbank are old favourites that never really stop being useful for new ideas.

I am always amazed by how many offline ideas I get for my online business - ideas are literally everywhere - it makes going to the shopping mall so much more interesting (and profitable!)

Unless I have a specific item in mind that I would like to sell I normally go through my favorite affiliate networks products while doing basic keyword research at the same time to check competition.

Once I find something I think I can sell with little competition I do research on who else is selling it before making my final decision.

Another good place to find some ideas is through social networking.

Clickbank gravity scores, Google trends, amazon, ebay pulse, keyword research once Ive chosen a specific "niche" market etc. Google trends is only useful once you have your "keyword" then look at the history for the term and you'll get a broader sense of if people are consistently interested in such a market or product.
