Camtasia users...I need some guidance

Hey everyone,

OK, I am running into a little problem with camtasia.

When ever I produce a video it takes for ever and I can n ot really use any other programs while it is doing it.

I have a pretty good computer too. 2mb ram intel core 2 duo

I am actually considering getting another computer so I can do other things while it works. Do you think getting a stronger computer will help?

Do screen flow users with mac have the same issues?

I could type while it works, but I do not type well. I use dragon natuarraly speaking and can not use it while the videos are being produced.

It is a waste of time because I probably type ten words a minute and lose what I am trying to say because I type too slow.

anyway, it has taken like ten minutes to type this. gotta go sit on my thumb and wait!

Ahhh. I have both programs and am very familiar with them. With Camtasia I used to use a computer with 2GB ram and I dont think I ran into too many problems. Your system just may need to be cleaned up, esp the system tray. With any video production software however, you are really pushing for crash problems multi-tasking.

I have added a new computer with 4gb RAM and can multi-task, but I still don't. if you are thinking of changing computers, I reccomend ADDING another and using 2. Keep one for your video production and do all your other stuff on the other computer. (Besides, you will feel really important with 2 computers on your desk!)

In regards to Dragon NS9, I use it quite a lot, but it completely takes over the command/keys aspect of your computer, so I use that by itself too.

Your computer specs sound fine for it. Did you try e-mailing Camtasia support about the issue?

What version of Camtasia are you running?

    I've have versions 5 & 6.

Camtasia claims that version 6 processes faster and that has been my experience as well. A 7 min. video takes about 5 min. to process.
