I've not tried it personally, I've had a few invites. But I don't think it's doing to well especially how things are with Google and Privacy, people may be seeing Google + as just another way for them to provide targetted ads due to personal information being shared.

Facebook is a site for (fake) friends while google+ is a site for real tech nerds. A lot of tech bloggers and entrepeneurs are using google+ ONLY and it is becomeing some kind of new linked.in.

I stick with path and google+ in my personal life, Facebook is just for traffic and prospects

        Google+ is a flop

AND, they still try to promote it in a very spammy way.

It is another Google social flop. No one need it and no one use it..

How come you are saying that no one need it? It may not be trending right now but it has users-> Google has new policy about trying to make all in one. Surely in time Google+ would be in high pitch.

Authorities are deeply concerned about Google's new privacy policy and the combination of personal data across all Google services.

The Center for Digital Democracy filed a complaint with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission last month:

"In particular, Google fails to inform its users that the new privacy regime is based on its own business imperatives: to address competition from Facebook' to grow its capacity to finely profile and target through audience buying; to collect, integrate, and utilize a user's information in order to expand its social media, social search, and mobile marketing activities ... and generally to expand its DoubleClick (advertising) operations"

It's far from dead, or a flop

If you are talking about the social network part of G+ then it is gaining ground. This is just one part of G+ remember. G+ includes social search, social doc sharing and all the other google tools.

G+ has more users than Facebook. The social bit of it is one element of googles plans for all it's tools to be '+'.

Most people are using G+ without even know it ie anyone with a google account. Plus, every new gmail sign up now automatically creates a + account.

You should check this out for a much better explanation than my waffle on google 2.0

One More Time, Google+ Isn't a Social Network

IMHO anyone not thinking about G+ in their marketing strategy is crazy. Just look at the massive changes to the SERPS.

For every thing, there will be an advantage & disadvantage .

There are many advantages of google plus

If you add the google plus button in your website, google will assume to crawl the pages to search engine

( by default) . And you can recommend to your friends . If more number of people recomend the page

using google plus , google pushes your page to the top ranking in search engine.

(And coming to the disadvantage is , it wont allow you to recomend your own button. )

This is the starting success of google plus.

It will become popular day by day.

When most of is dependent on Google, we can not just ignore this website. It may not be that popular but if you list your website in Google+, Google certainly sees that as a good ranking factor, which should not be ignored.

There's a search feature. You can simply search for keywords, and then filter for people and posts.

Apart from that, look at this:

There are a lot of bloggers that continue to say we will all need a Google + account in the future, that it will eventually take over. I have never used it, and don't really see a need at this point. Of course, if Facebook keeps making ridiculously stupid updates and aggravating people, Facebookers will need somewhere to go.

Ralf is exactly right. Google is everywhere and it won't be long before Google Plus hits "critical mass." Do we really want to wait until then to engage our readers? What an opportunity we're missing by failing to reach out to our readers now and to position ourselves as leaders to be watched, read, and followed.

Nay-sayers will point to all of the articles from reputable sources proclaiming that Google Plus is "dead, a ghost town" - but that is the easy story! It's what sells papers, but those stats that usership is low (3 minutes per month) is questionable because, as Paul Brown pointed out "every new gmail account automatically creates a Google Plus account"

And guess what? Some of those new gmail account holders are your readers, average users! If you're not on Google Plus and you're not encouraging your readers to be on Google Plus, you can bet that there are other IMers who are on Google Plus trying to reach your readers and your readers just might become more active on their g+ account and circle (follow) your competitor. Is that what you want? I don't.

I am actively building relationships on g+ and encouraging my readers to join and circle me there - and many have.

John Romaine and others who believe g+ does not provide a worthwhile experience I challenge you to circle me, tell me you were part of this thread and I will share my WF circle and a few other circles with you. Add those circles to your account and I think you will see a differnt side of g+.

The IM related conversations on G+ are fantastic with everyone from Google staffers to all the main SEO bloggers joining in.

I posted an IM related question on G+ and had over 300 replies. If I tried that on facebook all I'd get is all my friends and family saying 'wtf'

Not sure if this link will work but a good few people are keeping this google doc up to date with a list of people in all sorts of circles.

Even though their memberships are increasing, according to numerous reports, visitor engagement times are horrible.

I suspect, that quite a few internet marketers are simply joining for the SERPS element. It will only be a matter of time before we start seeing "CLICK HERE" profile photos.

Mostly only marketers use it for the simple reason that only IMers KNOW about it in the first place. It will never reach as high success as Google hopes, or at least not likely...

I think you shouldn't worry about it in the foreseeable future.

I'd totally disagree with this actually. We need more IM'ers to get into it IMHO. Loads of photographers, tech guys and business people, but would be cool if more WF type IM'ers got in amongst the conversations.

      Reality check:
      Britney Spears
      2,360,153 followers on g+

      Snoop Dogg
      2,094,642 followers on g+

      Hugh Jackman
      1,695,052 folloers on g+

      The Hunger Games
      764,636 followers on g+

I'd say, those are not under suspicion of being followed mostly by marketers.

I think it's possible. The important point, though, is that 'normal' people do use g+.

The circle sharing focuses on the early (geek) adopters most of the time. But unnoticed by many, there seem to be millions of average people using it. For example to do simple things like follow their favorite singer or movie star.

As I am more of a blogger I can tell you whats happening around me about Google+
            -

Most of the bloggers are using it because it is social measure Google using to push websites in search results in social circle.

But note that most of our audience does not know or use g+, I have not seen any significant results on my blog that gets over 3K visits per day.

but I would like to admit -
G+ shows up my posts higher for people who have me in circle.

It also let me see more better results, because I can see more posts of people I follow.

Other than that I could not find any point is using G+ yet!

I do see a lot of internet marketers on there and have circles for non geeky/internet marketing related niches too. I get a lot of interaction on G+.

It would be nice, if we could use all the tools we have for FB, Twitter etc. for g+.

The reason it's not possible is that the Google Plus API is still in development.

Once the API is fully functional, other services will integrate g+. Hootsuite is already running a test with selected users, who can use Hootsuite with g+.

By the way: once that rolls out with the most popular services, g+ will get a huge boost. I'm not sure if that's good, because it will also be a huge boost in spam - but g+ will be big.

Does it brings more traffix to my money site anfd more sales without need to build a list?

How I tackle the people from my g+ page to my moeny site?

Or must I send these peoples first to an web2.0 site like blogger, squidoo and so on, and from then to my money site?

How I do this with g+?

I like Google+, I will say though, as a user, it's not always easy to share content. I notice that when I read blogs in my Google reader, there is a Google+ button there, but just surfing on the web, it's much easier to Facebook Like or Pintrest something.

I like the vibe there though, the layout is very clean, and there just doesn't seem to be all of the annoying stuff that's on Facebook. That is my impressions as a personal user . My next step is to start using it more actively for business, so will def. check out some of the resources mentioned in this thread.

I think Google + is a failure because it has already suffered many problems reagarding privacy. Google + is just another way to advertise our products so that we can gain from it.Google even advertises that face to face conversation is available in google + but most people use that capability in skype itself instead of going for a
    new software.

It ist enough to add groups (circles) who are interested in my niche and post them regulary little description about an new article I have wrote on my web2.0 site or on my g+ page like this:

Hi, here in this new article I show you a new seo method blablabla......with link:
Click here to read more (link to my google page) and then people come to my g+ page read it and read my g+ profile too, they find there a link to my money site???

    Mus I do this so?

Or must I disciuss with others- it is time-consuming I will do only marketing/promote my articles to get traffic to my product money site.

      Marco,

doing it that way will give you results, but small results. Yes, a few people will see your links, and a few will click through. But probably not enought to make it worth the effort.

Google plus users are quite protective of their streams. When they see you just posting links, many will mute your posts for good.

Several marketers are posting that way. Even well-known ones, internet marketing celebrities. And even with links to great content, not spam.

What I noticed, is that they get almost zero response to their posts. Because they are not interacting with people.

      One more thing:
Originally Posted by marco005 View Post

They won't see your posts at all. They start seeing your posts when THEY ADD YOU, not when you add them.

What does that mean for using g+?

It's not for posting promotional links in the first place.

If you really want to use it, use it to build your reputation and real followers.

Once you have that, people will be interested in what you have to say, they will follow your links, and share your posts.

To build a reputation you need to engage a lot. Engaging means

      - commenting on other people's posts to get their attention and getting into conversations.
      - Watching people who respond to you, and deepen the relationship with those.
      - Writing and sharing good content. Not by posting a link, but by writing a short post about it.

Building a noticed presence on g+ takes a lot of time every day. Depending on your business goals you might well get better results from the same time spent on other marketing activities. It's a perfectly fine decision not to engage on g+.

Some people, however, believe that g+ will become so much bigger than today, that it's worth the effort. And some just have fun being there.

    Hey,
G+ is not a social network, please confirm this to yourself, yes it is for sharing ideas and thoughts not a complete social network like Facebook and this has been confirmed by Google itself. Also, its not flop if you know how to use and utilize it, yours own lack of knowledge must not be a site's or apps problem. I am using it and it has also helped me in SERP ranking. There is no comparison between FB and G+ as the concept differs, however even FB needs Google's approval to appear in its SERP and traffic as Google is the search giant.

thanks for your'e detailed post, I think will not use g+, it's too time-consuming for me.
I will try zemanta and yousaytoo.

I will marketing/promote my articles to get traffic and make sales, not build followers , discuss with others and so on (ok, forum marketing yes, in 4-5 niche related forums to answer 2-3 questions in each forum 2 times a week) that is not so much time consuming for me.

I think a lot of people are underestimating the fact that this is Google.

to be really honest, i think they're going to throw so much money and development into G+ over the coming years, that it wont be long before everyone's on the G+ Bandwagon.

I don't think Google+ quite took off like they envisioned HOWEVER if you run a business then it is worth making Google+ a part of that business even if you just look at the number of Google+ results that are getting indexed.

However it is nowhere near the size of Facebook it is still very new.

I think the main thing keeping it alive is the fact that it shows a preferential ranking in the search engines. Every time someone has a G plus page, it shows up on page one just because of how biased Google is.

Otherwise I don't know or care how it works.

I find the privacy settings to be better and easier to manage than on other sites.

Regarding the name, that issue should have been solved by now. They had some controversial name policies when they started, but -as far as I remember the discussion - solved that.

Still, to this day, I don't have a clue what Google+ is about, why I should use it (for pleasure or business) and what they do better than Facebook?

    What's the point?

I just found info that Google plus is getting wide support by developers.

Support from developers is a major factor for a platform to succeed and grow.

    A plus for Google+
Google also can take consolation in good news for its social-networking effort Google+ from the survey. Though it trails Facebook in users and usage, it's got high developer interest, King said.
    ...
Asked to whether Facebook's social graph or "the network effect of Google's assets" would play a bigger role in a company's social strategy, 61 percent said Facebook and 39 percent said Google, King said.

That's impressive for Google, he added. "Given Facebook's massive advantage in terms of users and the power of the site, you'd expect it to be like ten to one," King said.

The Google services are broader than just the service for posting and commenting at Google+; Google is integrating that into other online properties, and the survey deliberately focused on the broader effort.

"I think it's a misstep by Facebook," King said. Google's advantage came from "the education and engagement Google has done with those developers."
