As for your HTML issue...email is particularly tricky to compose using HTML, for a number of reasons. First of all, you should probably be using an email marketing service if you want to send HTML emails. They have templates and allow you to edit and customize the HTML in ways that are most likely to display correctly in each of the different email clients your list is going to be using to view your messages.

If you have little or no experience with coding HTML emails, I would highly recommend outsourcing that task. Coding HTML emails without losing a ton of the formatting between clients is a challenge for even an experienced designer/coder, so you can't realistically expect to pull it off yourself with no help...

I am certainly no expert on any of this, so if anyone disagrees or knows better than something I said, please feel free to correct me. This is only what I believe I have learned so far, but that doesn't mean it's all 100% accurate. Just trying to help, hope this gives you a little guidance.
