Hi Warriors,

I believe this has been mentioned before in few posts inside the threads but the information was all over the place, use this to protect your domains and business

How to Portect your self from getting your domain HIJACKED

1) Login to your panel ( godaddy/namecheap/register.com/etc) and make sure the domain is locked, please note that the domain can be unlocked in one click so this is not a hard thing to do if someone got access to your panel

2) Create a gmail account that u will use only for domains, u won't be using this email for any other stuff, any you will check this email every 2 days ( You need to check your email because when someone hijackers u r domain panel and they don't have access to the email, they will try to initiate a transfer, if you do not reject the transfer within 2 days or maybe less " depends on the registrar" then the domain will get transferred and ofcourse they can unlock the domain since they have access to your domain panel account

3) Setup the new gmail account to send you a message with a code to your cellphone each time you want to login, MAKE SURE YOU DON'T PUT REMEMBER THIS COMPUTER. basically each time you try to login to your gmail account, the system will send you a text message with a code that you should enter after entering the password, so if someone installed a keylogger on u r pc and try to login..they can't... even if they have full access to your computer..they still can't.. since the moment u logout the session is terminated and if u try to login again u need to get a new code in a text message to your cell

4) Put whois privacy on your domain, I know alot of Warriors say its a scam and its not worth it, but believe me.. how would they know the email associated with the account if there is whois privacy? they need to send a legit legal notice and try to fight the privacy company to get u r email which is alot of work... and even if they did then u have u r gmail protected with the code that I mentioned in point 3, if you have more than a domain on the same hosting account then the hijacker could lookup the domains and find the email, so what I do is I put privacy on all my domains, its expensive but in my opinion its worth it.

5)Make sure to use a good antivirus and a spyware protection, I cannot recommend any but I use free ones..

6) Create backups for your site and save them in 2 places, on your hard drive and on another external device.. if someone wants to destroy your business and they got access to your pc, they can easily delete the backups from your hard drive, but if u have it saved on an external one then you can get it back

7) This one is kind of hard to do..but if you have 2 computers, u can make one just for business, so basically u login from it to u r sites and email..NOTHING ELSE....

i would not use whois privacy but i recommend to use two different emails for your registrar accounts and your whois. if someone looks up your whois and sees your email that is not the same email to log into and transfer a domain from your registrar.

This is another option but think about it this way.. if they found your email they can try to hijack it too, but if there is noway to get u r email then they will stop the time they cannot find the email, I am not trying to say the privacy is the best but it does hide your email..for me its worth it but its also expensive..
