I don't use them myself but I asked a few fellow list builders that I know who use them and they said they are not having any issues.

I subscribed and wanted to use them too for my IM list, my current AR is way too expensive for what it delivers, but I didn't get any answer to my questions from there support or from Kellian (WF warrior member) here .. kind of gave me cold feet about moving my 100K+ list in there.. wich is a shame, their prices are really good and from what i've read their delivery rates doesn't seem terrible !

Imnica has a spam problem. Maybe if the contact information to report spam was on the website - then victims could submit complaints and the service could clean up its problems.

These are real issues that need to be addressed by Imnica Mail. I tried to use their service just recently for a new initiative and my own confirmation email never arrived. Surely filtered out on the spot by my host's spam blockers.

I do know that a lot of this can be resolved by Imnica mail being more proactive in dealing with its users and hosts. Hosts are like us here on the WF, when we hear of a problem we all guard against it. That is what is happening with Imnica Mail, they're getting a bad rep and the hosts are filtering them out.

There is some great feedback on this thread for any business to consider a goldmine and make corrections in order to safeguard an AR system that has great features, well run and at a reasonable price range. I think it behooves the administrators to make an all out effort to restore confidence on the part of all stakeholders.

I'll keep trying to use them in the future to see if the issues clear up - hopefully they will and I will finally be able to make use of the good platform that Imnica Mail is.

I think one of the best ways we can help Imnicamail get their act together is to report as many of the spammy mails as possible that you receive. I know the threshold for ditching spammers at imnicamail is pretty tolerant.

But if enough people bother to send more spam complaints it is quite possible that they will sort it out.

When I first posted in this thread about imnicamail I was contacted by the owner and he indicated that I should report the spam. The first email I reported he took action and cancelled the abusers account.

What surprised me is that he was known to them already as an abuser and had gotten the accounts of others banned by sharing his lists with them. What I didn't ask about but could not help thinking -- was that he knew the guy was trouble and had not banned him yet.

My suggestion is to raise the bar. Stick to your policies. It will cause you to have to dump people who are currently paying for the service and that will hurt a bit.

But if you don't take noticeable systematic action -- even if by gradients to reduce transitional pain -- then you'll never restore confidence.

The spammers that remain will continue to challenge your policies and invite their friends because you're too lax. You'll never clean things up sufficiently to thrive -- and therefore will fail to gain a strong reputation.

That is the problem with starting a very flexible and inexpensive service to gain market share is that you get a lot of abusers. If you don't clean them out you'll continue to have abusers as your main clientele.

Yes it is easy to sit here in my comfortable chair and dispense my advice -- but it does come from over 30 years in business for myself and from having made my share of hard decisions about who to retain as customers.

The one thing I come back to when I need a reminder is -- what kind of customers do I want referrals from?

      Yes, it can be.

Many Warriors who've tried this have ended up losing high proportions of their lists, in the process.

Aweber and GetResponse both have some sort of minimal-cost trial service available, $1 for the first month, or something. And then Aweber is $19 per month, I think GetResponse might be $15. It gives you a couple of months to make $20, anyway. And to be able to avoid the sometimes-disastrous "list-moving problem".

I would avoid free autoresponders at all cost.

Aweber, Getresponse and Icontact are affordable and top of the line
      autoresponders.

Again aviod free autoresponders at all cost.

    Hi,

I just registered with imnicamail few hours ago for trying out them with $1, and my login info was recieved in Spam folder in gmail. Tried to test it with few other gmail accounts, mail received straight in spam and after 6-8 minutes delay after signing up. Yet to do a test with yahoo.

Right now I am also testing out aweber $1 trial, email received within 30-40 seconds in inbox both in yahoo and gmail, also the follow up email (free gift) made it to the inbox instantly.

Aweber is costly, but the service is better, I still have to try icontact, constant contact etc.

Staying on the issue in hand: I think gmail hates imnicamail for some reason.
P.s. that is just my opinion, go ahead and test them out yourself.

With listwire can you seperate "buyers" from "freebie" seekers? Or do you send one e-mail to your whole list? I am thinking about using listwire the thing is if I switch to a paid service I don't want to lose subs having them opt in again..

You can have up to 12 different sub-lists in your account, and if you're using all 12, and need more... just get in touch...

As for the claim that it's harder to move to another provider if you're on a free service, that's not exactly true...

There's no difference in moving from a free provider to a paid one, than there is in moving from one paid service to another. It's the same process either way...

The big difference between moving from free to paid would be this...

If you "lose" subscribers in the move from one paid service, to another paid service, and you still want to contact all of your subscribers... you'd be paying 2 monthly fees to maintain 2 different autoresponder accounts.

If you "lose" subscribers in the move from a free service, to a paid service, and you still want to contact all your subscribers... you'd only be paying ONE monthly fee, and could continue to mail to your entire list on the free provider, at no cost...

            Food for thought.

I'm still finding the same thing with Imnica Mail. When sending to Gmail, emails will go straight to spam until I've manually clicked the "not spam" button, sometimes 2 times!

My signup confirmation also went straight to spam, it wasn't a good first impression at all...

In my experience, i've got a few people sign up with Gmails and have successfully confirmed their email. I have put a note on my confirmation pending page telling people to check their spam folder, especially Gmail users.

I do however find that about 50% of my signups never confirmed their email address... I don't know if this is quite typical, what do users of Aweber and other AR's think?

I've been trying to get rid of imnicamail.com spam for the last 6 months without any success, and I'm not using gmail. Their unsubscribe never works and they do not answer emails sent to their "contact us" address. Most of the emails I get is porn related. I've now sent an email to the FTC to see if they'll do anything about it. So please do not use them as a service provider.

I suppose you get what you pay for. If you find a cheap service, more people will be using it to send out crappy poor quality emails. I'm with Imnica at the moment, and ALL of my test emails to gmail have ALWAYS gone into the spam folder. Now I understand that test emails are sent from a different server, but it doesn't inspire much confidence to be honest.

I currently don't make any money from email marketing (haven't promoted anything yet, just building a buyer's list), but when I do, I intend to transfer everything over to Aweber. Aweber is expensive as hell though, so make sure you're confident you'll be making money with it before you sign up. Sure, everyone will tell you it's just $19 per month, but wait till you start getting more members on your list, the costs just spiral up.

I came to this thread searching in Google with the words Imnica mail spam. Some people I am subscribed to are using this service and from my point of view that service is horrible. It has a link I can use to unsubscribe, but it never works, clicking it makes nothing happen, the e-mails just keep on coming. I have now make a trash folder and all e-mails that have the word Imnica on them will go directly to that folder and I just emply it. I would never buy something from someone who uses such a poor quality, unprofessional service.

I beg to differ. I have noticed such a consistent abuse from spammers using immnicamail that I now unsubscribe from ALL users of immnicamail for two reasons:

        1. I know that I did not opt in to most of the junk I get sent to me from immnicamail users. I know because one of the email addresses I've been getting the junk from never get's used for opt-in mail. The only way that the email address in question got onto anyones list was from a trusted source who let it out -- most likely someone harvested it due to a close friend posting all destination email addresses in the "to" field and my email address got harvested that way. Suddenly I was flooded with emails from various immnicamail clients who could only have gotten my email address by questionable means or from questionable suppliers of bulk email. I sent numerous complaints to abuse@imnicamail.com without success.

        2. Most removal requests did not happen. You can argue all you want that the remove feature works every time -- but I had the same kind of experience only 5 mins ago that the other poster did. Having just had it happen again (clicked unusubscribe and it just timed out) I did a search on "imnicamail popular with spammers" and noticed this thread on WF.

I've never had a single provider stand out so much in the spammer world as imnicamail. When I get unsolicited email from other providers such as aweber and I send messages to abuse@ -- it stops. When I get unsolicited email from imnicamail and attempt to unsubscribe the link times out and I don't get off the list. When I've sent messages to abuse@iminicamail I've seen no reduction in the amount of spam.

Once in a while I do get unsubscribed but that is the exception in my experience. Mostly I have grown to completely distrust any mail sent from imnicamail because of the substantial increase in spam I get when I try to unsubscribe from a list. Maybe it's coincidental but it's so frequent and so correlated to my attempts to unsubscribe that I gave up. I'm going to use the filter that someone else suggested and just divert everything to a folder that empties every day.

PS. There is a reason why imnicamail has so much trouble getting gmail to send their mail. It is not due to lack of complaints if you catch my drift.

    @ Richelo,

Does Imnica know what causes the gmail issue ? Is there any way to solve this problem ? Your customer base has grown immensely the last year... Aren't you affraid of losing customers ? Does Imnica Mail have enough employees or technical people to handle the issues and find a solution ? Why is it that other well known AR services are not having this deliverability problem with for example gmail ?

This is not a rant, but I'd imagine if you see your customer base grow rapidly like this, Imnica should dig in and make sure you keep your customers happy or they'll simply leave....as many have done already.

The spam emails from lists I've NEVER subscribed to is increasing it seems. In my opinion you can take much more control over what lists are imported in accounts and I'm quite sure you can see exactly what accounts are "spamming" like nuts and even see the content of the emails. I'd say research those accounts and ban them. If you see too many messages going out EVERY day from certain accounts...investigate.

I've been using Imnica as my AR for a while now and I'm 100% convinced I'm missing out on up to 50% opens on my broadcasts, as most people use gmail. The spammers sending out 10+ emails per day to their lists (which is the whole problem I think) have ruined it for the ethical marketers who are actually trying to build a relationship with their lists.

Solve the gmail issue and you'll likely be in the top 5 of AR services soon enough. I've seen many threads about Imnica and I never saw a clear answer on where they stand or how they're planning on solving the issues people are complaining about. Seeing that others have sent complaints to Imnica's abuse address and still nothing changes makes me worry and I'm seriously considering to move as well.

Just replying with "We're on it and we'll try to solve the problems asap" doesn't cut it. Although in my opinion your customer support is pretty good we never get a clear answer. What we as customers would like to hear is that you WILL solve the problem and you're 100% sure you CAN solve the problem with gmail and the spammers. If so, then please update with how it's progressing by starting a thread about it or continue in one of the many threads now active on the WF. You can regain the trust you've lost this way by keeping your customers involved and for example send out a message to your customers... I don't remember receiving any information or updates on the issues as a customer, which is wrong in my opinion. Might be that you've sent those messages, but ended up in spam.

    Again...this is no rant.
    Just give us some facts.

    Thanks.

    Andre

Maybe they've been keeping too many customers happy who are spammers.

I noticed an unusual increase in autoresponders sending me email without opting into any new lists. Surprise -- they all came from Imnicamail clients.

I also recommend checking their unsubscribe links. A common trick of spammers is to copy an unsubscribe link from someone else's legitimate opt-in sequence and paste it into their email to make it appear like it has a legit unsub link. Obviously it doesn't work and everyone who unsubs stays on the list.

This trick gives the spammer deniability. He/she can say it was a mistake. To prevent this you need a script that checks the unsub link of every email sent -- to make sure it is valid and to not let spammers send any email out that has a non-working unsub link. Also make it impossible for those sending emails with your service to NOT insert a working unsub link. Other providers create and manage the unsub link automatically and it cannot be over-ridden.

Solve the gmail issue and you'll likely be in the top 5 of AR services soon enough. I've seen many threads about Imnica and I never saw a clear answer on where they stand or how they're planning on solving the issues people are complaining about.
I watched a 20 million dollar investment go up in smoke by a guy who started an amazing online business but his communication was vague and he was much too tolerant of bad behavior by his members. He had too much faith in human nature to realize that not everyone will do the right thing "if only given the chance". It took him 9 years to lose it all but he lost every dime.

Just replying with "We're on it and we'll try to solve the problems asap" doesn't cut it. Although in my opinion your customer support is pretty good we never get a clear answer. Thanks.

I agree. Clear decisions, clear communication, and firm resolve to uphold the policies as stated, are the best ways to show people what you're all about. Richelo I think that either you've gotta be the bad guy to the spammers or you need to hire someone who'll do it for you if it's too hard for you to be firm with your policies.

Even outsource it if you have to. Maybe there are reputable outsourcers on the WF with sufficient experience in customer relations to find someone that will diplomatically but effectively clean things up for you but save you the grief of doing it yourself.

@econtinue -- One thing I find disturbing is that while you posted a well articulated and respectful challenge almost a month ago, plus you are a customer of imnicamail, and yet there is no response from the owner of imnicamail.

The above comment made by Andre states exactly what Imnica should do. I'll personally love to see you guys sort out this gmail and spam issue and finally get rewarded with more customer loyalty.

I have been using Imnica Mail for the past few months and I like it, especially after I figured out how to integrate the optin form code with different marketing tools. I don't have an issue with gmail going to spam folder but I can never seem to get any of the emails to go to Yahoo. I have a Rogers Yahoo email address for testing and not one of my emails has ever been delivered there.

Other than that I am very happy with Imnica Mail

I am also recently having issue with getting email from my AR series.
I did few tests and sometime the mail arrived after several hours.
For one of my clients ( who is trying out the FREE account) the test confirmation
email after opt-in never arrived in his comcast email, so he could not confirm
the double opt-in... Not a good experience as I suggested to try out Imnica mail!!

Does FREE account have a different delivery rate?

I've used ImnicaMail for over a year now, and I have continual problems with my emails going into SPAM. I have gone out of my way to learn about writing non-spam posts, and even keep everything text-only. I don't write about biz-ops, money, "FREE", or anything of the sort. Even so, when I sign up for my own stuff, my gmail account sends most of it to SPAM.

Actually, I had similar problems with AWeber, Get Response, IContact, and a group called GVO. Frankly, I'm not convinced that using anybody's service is worth my time or money. It is very frustrating spending mountains of time on this stuff when it simply doesn't get through.

I understand all of the benefits that are supposed to come with using these companies. I'm just not getting them.

I'm likely over-reacting. But I'm wondering if there is any better solution? I once used Mailloop--and controlled my own mailings. (Problems there, too, of course.) Would a consulting firm be better? I'm really tired of all of this. It's like digging a hole and all of the dirt keeps falling back in.

Whatever you choose it looks to me like imincamail is still struggling with the tension between strict policies and keeping revenue. Greed is a powerful incentive for providers to be tolerant of bad practices.

Here is my latest FUBAR with iminciamail: I sent an abuse report because I've received a phishing or malware attack telling me that my wordpress installation had failed and that I needed to install a patch. First the only people who know about my wordpress installations are my hosting provider and the email was not from them.

It was from imnicamail so I sent an abuse@ letter with full headers and advised them of the attack and asked them to get rid of the abuser to help clean up their image.

Instead I got a support ticket that said "we've removed you from all imnicamail lists and offered to make it impossible for anyone to send mail from imnicamail.

So instead of punishing the dirtbag marketer they punish me by getting me off all their lists without me asking for them to do so. No doubt I've bought a product or two from people on imnicamail. But I don't keep track of what autoresponders are being used by the people I purchase from so now to find out whether or not I've been removed from lists that are valuable to me I've been globally delisted without having made any such request.

The first time I contacted Richelo (at his request) was after my first post in this thread. He followed up nicely and got rid of the spammer like I mentioned in a previous post. However the couple times after when I emailed abuse@ I also copied him like he asked but got no response from anyone. My guess is that Richelo will take action when people are publicly vocal about the service but as soon as they resort to following the normal service channels they are ignored.

My best advice is this: Becuase Imnicamail is a haven for spammers and the problem does not appear to have been corrected nor does it seem to be top priority for this company.

IMO their practices allow spammers to do plenty of damage before they'll take action. For example in my recent complaint the spammer sending bogus code for people to install in their wordpress account remains a client of theirs and I have, without having requested it, been delisted from all imnicamail lists both good and bad when my complaint was about only one account.

I would not use them and I'd avoid any providers that use them. Problem is you can't always tell if a squeeze page is using imnicamail or not just by looking at the page. Maybe I'll have to resort to investigating the code of every squeeze page I encounter to determine if it's them or not. Then I'll have to email the product owner and advise them that I want their product but will not allow my email address to be on imnicamail.

Perhaps another way is check all optin forms whether they are using imnicamail and then have a throw away email address for every imnicamail optin I fill out.

Regardless I'm pissed about this service being popular because it's cheap -- yet it's costing me, who is not a customer of theirs, more money do deal with than it's costing the spambags to be a member of imnicamail. Damn

          Hey Again George,

If you copied me on this last abuse report, I did not see it, and would most certainly gotten rid of the spammer.

PM or email me the headers, and will take care of it.

As for the actual response you got ... Wil most certainly need to do some more training with our compliance team. Compliance people are not just lying around as it's a VERY niche job market, and we end up training our people from scratch on what to look for.

Even with all the training in the world, making a decision on spam or not, is still down to the human, who can, and does make mistakes.

Phising crap like you mention will NOT be tolerated!

I will add one more thing here ... Our policies are somewhat more lenient than other providers. This is by design.

There IS a place in the market for somewhat more lenient policies.

Again, that being said, blatant spamming, and phising will not be tolerated!

I consistently see spam messages coming from imnica by blatent spammers. I have one now telling me my credit card charge was reversed and wanting me to click on their link. Wonder where that leads to? Oh, and I have gotten 3 more just like it recently.

Also, when i have unsubscribed through an imnica link every time it seems to hang like I'm supposed to feel like the window froze and just close it before the unsubscribe happens. I don't even unsubscribe now. I set up a rule for all imnica mail to go to the spam folder and I delete them later after I push the spam fighter button to add it to their database.

I also have noticed that almost every time I buy a wso I get a new wave of spam from imnica users. I've seen it many times, which caused me to set up the rule in the first place.

That quote above "There IS a place in the market for somewhat more lenient policies " seems to make it pretty clear there is a place for spammers to call home.

What a shame. No wonder internet marketing has such a bad reputation.

fdth, first, awesome name. Too shy to post under a real name? I just love how these forums are so anonymous, and people come in here and just post whatever they want, being too much of a coward to use their real names.

Anyway, I am sure in real life, you are a reporter for a tabloid, because only tabloid reporters can take a comment SO out of context, and leave out the rest of the important conversation.

Let me just state this AGAIN: Again, that being said, blatant spamming, and phising will not be tolerated!

We have deleted 100's of spammer accounts, and continue to do so on a regular basis. MANY Warriors have had their accounts deleted for violating our TOS.
