Best Way to Advertise a New Site?

What is the best way to get a new website off the ground? I would prefer to use free methods because I think they are actually more effective anyways. I have a Facebook and Twitter account to help advertise the website. What other ways help bring traffic? I've looked around at advertising services but they all seem like scams to me. These forum posting services don't really do much good. They give you a forum profile backlink that has no traffic. I don't mind doing the work and posting up links on other websites, but I want to make sure I'm doing the right kind of work. Any tips would be good.

Paid traffic methods bring fast traffic. PPC, solo ads, and banner ads are a few of the paid options. There is no such thing as free traffic... The so called free methods cost time. Your time is worth money, therefore any form of traffic generation cost money.

The thing is some people have a lot of free time and no money. So, I would call it free traffic.

My first method to promote a new site is usually launch several press-release at once.. 3 - 4 maybe..

If done right, you'll have quick exposure and quick high PR backlinks from authority sites.

Article and Video marketing are also something you should consider doing..

    Hope this help,
    Jeremiah

In my opinion; Free traffic is the greatest technique so leveraging the power of sites like youtube; hubpages; yoono... etc should be dynamic part of any strategy.

One of the quickest ways to get traffic is Video Marketing- You can also do a little bit of forum marketing, find relevant forums to your website's niche, make sure they allow you to place a link in your signature - then all you gotta do is interact with people in as many forums as you can. Doing this can bring you a lot of traffic really fast. check out big-boards.com for forums

    Hope this helps you!

Hello friend, there is no easy way. I'd say viral social media marketing is a big step to do, if you are at absolute square one you can even consider places like yahoo answers for direct targeted marketing.

Write some articles and create some videos that relate to the content of your site. Posting on this forum is also a good way to promote a new site, especially if it is about internet marketing.

    Hi Russflex

I think the best way for you to get off your site is to pick a strategy that fits your product and market.

Just relying on free methods are fine if you are bootstrapping it. However it is very draining on the owner and it can lead to one method of generating traffic over others. That is very dangerous if Google for instance decides to shake things up, like they have announced that they are planning on doing. (Expect a lot of sites being dumped on Flippa in the next few months due to Indian SEO companies doing blackhat SEO.)

I would suggest a mixed list of the following:

    1. Press-releases: They are not that important for traffic but important for increasing conversions once you get reputable logos and reviews posted on your site. That will increase the credibility of what you do.

    2. SEO. Your site should rank high for relevant keywords in the market that give you the highest conversion.

    3. PPC. ONLY if it is profitable in your niche and you can get a deal where you hold the PPC professional responsible for profit. With increaseing CPC many niches are simply not profitable anymore and PPC professionals prefer to be paid based on budgets. And generally they like clients who spend a lot.

    4. Social media. Personally I don't think it is that important since it is very hard to track conversions from.

    5. Affiliate marketing. Get an army of people selling your product/service. Ideally see if you are able to get some of the top 1,000 on the planet to focus on your product.

    6. JV's. Adswaps, cross promotions. Try to find companies that don't compete with you that you could sell through and that would like to sell through you.

    7. Associations. See if there is a trading organisation in your niche and offer to write free content for them. Usually they would be happy to get someone else to do the writing for them, and you get free promotion. This is particularly important if they send out written newsletters. They convert at times as much as 5 times more than e-mail newsletters.

    8. Offline marketing. See if you can print a T-Shirt with the logo of your company and go to trade-expos in your niche as a visitor. You will be amazed at how many free cross-promotional deals you would be able to get.

In the end I think your focus should be to develop marketing processes that you know work, turn them into a system, and then delegate it.

The challenge is, finding good people to do it. A way around that is finding great site you want to look like, check the traffic on compete, find who made the site through whois and contact the owner to get their contact information. Some site owners are protective of their teams however, so you might have to be patient.

Thanks Jimmy - I agree with those and learned a new one (or just remembered it - 'yahoo answers')

PPC can be very costly, but at least it allows you to really ramp (scale) things up quickly.

Oh yes - and at least some PPC spend allows you to test headlines and ad copy very cheaply compared to other methods.

      Good luck :-)

  • You could try article marketing and link building. But you may find that promotion does usually require some sort of investment money wise and time wise.

I think the free traffic redirected by the Market is more profitable and you can achieve this by the Article Syndication, You tube videos, Podcast, Archieved Newsletter, Blogs or social media as well !!

You can generate free traffic from a variety of sites if you
    have enough credits such as:

Free Twitter Followers, YouTube Views, Likes, Subscribers, Pinterest Followers, Vine Followers - YouLikeHits

Like4Like.org - Get 100% FREE Facebook Likes, Twitter and Instagram Followers, YouTube Subscribers and more.

    Free YouTube Subscribers

AddMeFast.com - Free Facebook Likes, Twitter Followers, YouTube Views, Likes, Subscribers, Pinterest Followers, Vine Followers

Make sure you have an email list (on autoresponder) so you can capture
    some of these visitors permanently.

When you publish fresh content, notifying your list members through
an autoresponder broadcast will bring TARGETED TRAFFIC (always
    a good thing).

By the way, sending commercial messages to your opt-in email
list members is the absolute best type of FREE ADVERTISING!

If you have a WordPress blog, you can use a free plugin called
    PopUpAlly to build your list.

Once your list gets to a certain size (say 500) you can do ad swaps
with other list owners, so growing your list to a substantial size is not
    that hard.

Try to publish a newsletter/ezine to your email list every two weeks.

You should broadcast commercial (affiliate) offers to your list no more
    than 40-50% of the time.

If you are sharing quality information in your blog posts, your
list members will share (like, retweet, etc.) your content to
    help it go viral.

Hope this insight is useful in explaining the value of targeted traffic.

Paid movement systems bring quick activity. PPC, solo advertisements, and flag promotions are a couple of the paid alternatives. There is no such thing as free movement... The alleged free routines expense time. Your time is worth cash, subsequently any type of activity era cost cash.
