This niche has really evolved...

I must say, I was watching some upcoming movie trailers on youtube this morning and I have to admit, the "Fake Movie Trailers" niche has really gotten pretty sophisticated over the last 12 months.

I was clicking on and watching several that I didn't realize were fake until about a good 30 seconds into the trailer.

LOL!

But how can you monetize it? I'm not sure what you could sell in order to make money off of them. After all, there is no real movie to offer once people see it...

If you make good fake trailer and spread it and make it popular you can monetize it in many ways like youtube partnership,or affiliate marketing or selling ad space...

I know that you can get untargeted sakes from these things of course. I'm just thinking as far as targeted sales, what could you sell that directly relates to these things and I can't think of anything at all.

Get a real and ethical business model, stop thinking about doing things like this. Every time I see a fake trailer on YouTube, especially one that I very enthusiastically click on just to immediately find out it's some fake crap, I report it. I'm sure others do the same. I just wish YouTube would actually take care of this crap.

Be careful here. I'd never associate myself with (or with any marketer for that matter) that derives its profit/traffic primarily from deceiving people into something. It may seem like a good short term gain but will always negatively label you in certain circles and hurt your reputation in the long run. Being deceitful is never advantageous.

Now if you are talking about the funny/clever movie trailer spoofs which are clearly marked (like turning "The Shining" into a lighthearted romantic comedy) that's completely different. But the fake trailer promoting Avatar 2, Jurassic Park 5, etc. making people believe they are watching something different from what they actually are (aka FOOLING someone) I'd never partake in. Period.
