Do your parents say that you spend too much time on the computer?

Hello, great to be back after a forced vacation (ban). My parents tell me that I spend too much time on the computer. I tell them I am trying to make money online. It seems that being on the computer all day is not something my parents like apparently even if you are trying to make a living through the computer. Can anyone else relate?

The only way you probably can get affirmation from your parents is to prove it with your money showing up in your wallet. Once they see some money coming in, they may back up. When I was a kid, there was no internet and my parents were so school oriented that they did not want me working so I could focus on my studies. When I went to college, the only way I could make the money I wanted to was to move out. They thought I was crazy but sometimes that is the only way to get the freedom you want. Wait till your 18 and take charge of your life, but fair warning, when you are out on your own its not always what you want. The first thing I learned when I moved out is what utility bills are and for a lot of kids having bills comes in as a shock.

No, because I'm an adult living on my own. My parents have no idea what I'm doing!

Yes,they used to. I make more money online than they make with their jobs, so they don't say anything anymore. They even got me tested for drugs, and asked around because they thought i was selling A LOT of weed. Lol

They used to- 15 years ago.

Now that I've graduated with an engineering degree from one of the greatest schools in the U.S., I doubt looking back they think "man it's too bad he was always on the computer"

My parents are afraid to go on the internet for the most part - and have no idea how much time I spend on the computer. But if I were to woosh back in a time machine to the early 80's they would probably be concerned.

No he isn't lol, I started when I was 12 buying and reselling things and dropshipping while throwing up PPC ads, better to start young.

Also, yes my parents do say that I am spending too much time on the computer but they also respect my earnings and the fact that I play multiple sports at the ame time so as long as there is physical activity then it's fine.

Welcome back. You're situation is very common especially to people whose parents are not acquainted about the internet. In fact, this is the most common source of arguments. I suggest you to let your parents know of what exactly you are doing.

I am grown up and unfortunately my parents are long since dearly departed, so they don't know what I am doing.

It's tough to have relatives that don't understand or are flat out against it. My suggestion to you is to focus on learning and applying as much as you can and keep it under your hat. Then when you have the ball rolling, surprise them. Until then don't talk about it with them. In fact, don't talk to most people about it at all until your successful.

Nope, my dad passed away 4 years ago, and my mom is clueless about such things. And I've been on my own for lots of years now, so they haven't told me what to do since...hmm...I can't remember when!

How about adding to the question Wife, Husband or life partner

Yes my wife tells me every day... what do I do?

I give her all the CB checks to do with what she wants.... and I tell her she can design some minisites while I cook dinner.

Know when to shut it down also helps....

Of course they do. They tell so all the time, even after they've seen what I earn first hand. That's just how parents are I guess, always worrying about their children.

    No, but my kids do

The reason why they get grumpy is because I won't let them use my computer to go on Facebook because I am always busy

I can surely relate with you there. Parents still find hard to believe that one can actually make decent money online
