Amazon Kindle Publishers Comments Requested

Hi All,

I have been running free promotions on Amazon Kindle and I am noticing these "free sales" seem to drive down my monthly sales.

I make more money when I don't offer the book free during the month.

I anticipated the opposite as I expected the free offer would drive the book's ranking higher.

Here is my question:
Are you analyzing your stats? Do you noticed the "free kdp promotion" sales are driving your monthly sales for the book up or down?

Thank-you for your comments.

Usually a free offer does drive the ranking and therefore paid sales up.

But it depends on how many copies get downloaded during the free period. If its under 1000 then it doesn't seem to have much effect on rankings or paid sales.

I never noticed mine having an adverse effect on my sales. It either helps them or just keeps them the same.

That's my experience, too. But then if someone's making more sales by not doing the free promos, I'd stop doing them.

I never did use the free promotion option on Kindle. It sucks that you cant get the customer name of the people who buy your books, but it is what it is. But you should consider sticking with offering your book at a good price.
